For Nokia, this can only be bad. It means Windows Phone isn't selling enough. For poor people in the 3rd world, it's good.

Academic discussions. Does it surf the web? Can I use Facebook/Twitter on it? can I use mail? Does it have apps? If the answer is yes on 3 of 4, then it is a "smartphone" in peoples eyes.

WP is steadily increasing it's user base: Doubled in Europe during the last 6 months.

SGS3s are given away at the moment. The winner is Apple (not a good thing, not even understandable, but a fact, people are purchasing iPhone 4S like never before). The market is over saturated (and the iPhone 5 is "overengineered" sort of), still WP is blooming, even before WP8 has entered.

Whatever happened yesterday seems to have finished by the time Helsinki opened again. You can see the jump here:

Today has started flat:

Spikes like that without a reason can cause a lot of suspicion. Could this be farthole and his cronies going on a spending spree again an attempt to attract interest?

Don't read too much into the spike. The NOK spike was caused by our old friends the options traders, who by the end of trading had opened 9,293 puts along with only 1,621 calls. The most popular option was for the October $2.50 put that expires at the end of this week (ie. after the earnings call on the 18th). Of 18000 contracts changing hands yesterday, over 10000 were for the $2.50 put. They need the price to drop below $2.39 to break even, which is a fall of over 11% of the current price. So that should tell you where the market thinks the Nokia share price is heading over the coming week.

But Nokia didn't post any warnings. Thus their earnings will be as or better than expected..
