LOL! You do realise that Samsung will NOT drop WP if MicroNokia success in China?

Simply because Samsung is biggest copycats.

So will nokia stock keep going? When will apple and Nokia's stock value be exactly at the same level. A year from now?

Yeah, Samsung is still doing it--but there's been strong rumors that if this doesn't go well, they're likely to drop Windows Phone in 2013. I forgot about Huwawei--good catch. It will all come down to how relevant Windows Phone makes itself, as to whether these two will probably continue to develop Windows Phone at all... so far, it doesn't look positive, despite Specc's assertions about Europe and its relevance.

You DO realize (correct spelling) it hasn't been a success so far, right? We'll see how it unfolds in the coming months, but if past trend is any indicator (and based on what Samsung's own people have said), dropping support for the Windows Phone market from Samsung would only effect a tiny sliver of customers. Trends show that they have sold more with Bada than Windows Phone--and that hasn't sold particularly well in the overall market either. Once again, we'll see.

They sold more Bada, their own OS, and dropped it. But then, that's after they set up Tizen to be the successor.

Microsoft won't drop Windows RT no matter how bad Windows phones sell, so there's some predictability advantages over Tizen, that will eventually be dropped: it has Intel backing.

There is no way Apple can possibly drop down to Nokias level in any less than 5 years.

The great thing with tech and stocks is that the impossible is possible and that is how u inovate for real :D

Think the unthinkable to do the unthinkable.

Lets say samsung don't want to deliver to apple anymore. Then apple have som serious issues to solve.

It's been Post-Steve Apple for more than a year now... practically continuing with the past momentum. I would not count on it to continue for long.

In all modesty. IMO he wasn't picking on anyone (for a change ;) ), merely pointing out that his spelling was correct.

Oh my $DIETY, I laughed outloud and HARD! Thanks for that. :)

well, almost every single WP phone in Europe is Nokia. That is the main difference between Europe and NA. Smartphones are becoming just as everyday as dumbohones were 10 years ago. When that happens to it's full extent, two things will happen. 1 design, brand and build quality becomes important, OS and specs becomes irrelevant. on the other end of the scale is price, huawei and ZTE will eat big chunks of Samsung.

The others (Samsung in particular) ending their WP production, has more to do with timing. Right now only Nokia gets the attention, there is no space left for others. Not only because Nokia has the best phones, but also because of the Nokia drama that is going on.

Are we really going to have that discussion here? Both spellings of the word are correct in their respective dialects.

then it appears that they merged the new one (one post?) with the old thereby reopening the old one. Why close the old one to begin with then?

They were not merged. Becouse the moderatores thought they could solve some sort of issues by closing the thread. But thread was never the problem, It was the content :D So they started started the same discussion again :) Simply to little talk related to stocks and more I-know-better-than-you stuff and now we are at the same point where the other thread were closed.

Now, How to solve this issue?

uTMY 2012-12-10 11:31

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock. Really.

If there's a need then since it is in off topic posts, just let it continue.

Mostly the posts are about factors that could affect stock price and the future of Nokia.

Its not wildly diverging from that goal.

Where there are tangents it returns fairly quickly.

Another apocalyptic article blaming Elop for NOKIA troubles. Just pure rubbish. That tells me how myopic is the guy who wrote it.

If there was a biased viewpoint on the world, and anti- Balmer and Elop hate, that is the link to read.

Every linear article is just that, linear to the point of when it was written. The linear future he expounds is unlikely to happen, just like NOKIA and WP controlled things few years back and it slipped. There is too much freedom of movement and competition for it to happen.

Tomi is a non-factor. He can be angry in his little corner as much as he seemingly likes to be stuck in the past talking about what could have been.

What I'm talking to you about, very clearly I might add, is that the present and future of WP is rather slow to build. 300% growth in sales, yet they're still a minor bit player in most markets. WP just isn't selling like... well, a lot of other devices out there.

No. They will not sell well. They've had 7.0, 7.5 and now 8.0 to get people onboard.

It just ain't happening. Ecosystem can't pull it out no matter how many times Elop or you say it.

Ask Elop if he is confident in the next few quarters for Lumia series to sell as much as what Symbian was selling one/two quarters before he killed it and even he would not be able to guarantee it... Symbian at peak was selling >25million devices per quarter; for Elop even 10 million would be a cause to party his a*s off ...

Oh and before you give me the stupid taliban line remember to check the profit margin of Lumia series and Symbian phones... No prizes for guessing Symbian was giving >15% margin while Lumia is struggling to give 1/3 of that...

Funny thing is, Tomi is very often right with his predictions - he also backs up what he says with empirical evidence . Now, let's look at your predictions Lumiaman

first you went from saying WP7.5 will be a success
then you said it will take WP8 for the strategy to be a success
and now you're saying that it may or may not work

NICE WORK!!!! A++
