Version 1.3 has now been released, this version makes it possible to click hyperlinks within books (e.g. in the table of contents) and makes it easier to clear the dictionary pop-up after highlighting a word (and makes it harder to accidentally highlight a word).

I'm still working on it, I believe I've fixed the main problem that was standing in the way of a Symbian version. There's just a number of smaller issues that still need to be fixed now.

The timeouts problem I mentioned earlier in this thread with the Symbian version doesn't appear to be as fixed as I'd thought (although it is lessened to some extent), I'm now working on a different approach to fix it. I have fixed most of the other smaller issues now though, so as soon as I have a more comprehensive fix for the timeouts issue it should be ready to go.

While a donation would certainly be appreciated I'm afraid it's unlikely to have much effect on the speed in which things get finished. I'm having to fit in work on this around various other commitments, so I can't really dedicate any more time to it than I'm already doing.

While it's still not perfect, I don't think there's much more I can practically do to make it work better, so I'm going to try and release the Symbian version within the next couple of weeks (assuming Nokia's QA team doesn't have any problems with it).

Great app. I know your time is short, but is there a possibility for Erudite to support landscape orientation? Just curious whether it can be done technically, and if it can, whether you might have time to make it happen?

Unfortunately the Symbian app's submission for QA got delayed a bit longer as I had to wait for Nokia to assign me some app IDs for their free signing process, but that's all handled now and its just waiting for QA.

A landscape mode should be possible, it's just a matter of me finding time to come up with a set of adaptations so everything fits on the screen in a usable way.

Hello,
I installed it just when you released it.

Its a great adiction to the symbian world. For me, a needed feature.

I found a little bug and some things I would like to be updated:
The bug:

Im using a nokia 808.
When you enter in Erudite app, and open a book, if you press the library button, the screen goes downside, loosing space in the top of the screen and hiding the buttons used to go up and down in the library.
I uploaded a screenshot.

Things to upgrade:

The text size is too small, specially small in some books.
The bigger text size is too small also. the smallest one is unreadable. It would be perfect to enlarge two steps the font size for all font sizes.

The margins are too big. A big part of the screen is ocuppied by the margins. If you choose the smallest margin there is also too much margin left. I suggest to make the margins two steps smallers with each margin setup.

There is no full screen mode: there is space missing by the upper and footer bars.

There is no lanscape mode. Please if possible implement it because the phone screen is too small to read in portrait mode.

The buttons are a little small, but nothing not usable...

Please, tell me if is it possible to ressolve the but and/or update the aplication.

I've requested that Nokia temporarily remove Erudite from the Ovi Store for now as some recent changes in the cloud reader service prevent it from working correctly. I'll try and get things working again and then republish it, however if you've already bought a copy and would like a refund just get in touch with Nokia Care (I don't have any direct control over refunds unfortunately).

It locks up when trying to do an initial download from the cloud reader. So if you're already logged in it'll continue to work correctly, it's only a problem for new users or users who have logged out (and so cleared the app cache).

After rebooting the phone today I was asked to log in again. It still worked. But maybe it did not clear the cache as it picked up where I left before.

Yeah, Amazon require you to re-authenticate every 14 days, that shouldn't clear the cache, it's only if you explicitly select "Sign out" from the options menu that the HTML5 app cache will be cleared.

The MeeGo version should now be back in the store, the Symbian version still needs some work before it can be republished.

I purchased Erudite last week...it worked for a couple days, but now when it goes to the book I want, there is just a busy icon swirling constantly...please advise? Thanks, great app other than this issue.

Sorry to hear you're having problems, I haven't been able to reproduce the issue on my end, does it happen with all books or just one in particular?

Also can you double check that your internet connection is working correctly? After the latest update on Amazon's end the book downloading functionality hasn't been working correctly in Erudite, so books can't be read offline at the moment.

For me Erudite works online but I have now problems getting my books downloaded and stored offline.
First I couldn't download and "pin" new books for offline reading.
I removed some existing ones to free some web storage space. (Btw, is the limit still 50 MB?) but this didn't help.
So I signed out from the cloud reader in order to clear the offline cache, logged on again and tried to open the books again to trigger the download. Now I have no books available offline.
Unfortunately the downloads get stuck before the end, e.g. at 96% or earlier and then won't appear on the "Downloaded" tab.
Manually selecting books to download and pin them also doesn't work.
Any idea what the problem could be?

So that is the issue I think...the book was downloaded unbeknownst to me...when I cloud read, it is fine...is there a way to get the book off the downloaded list, so I can cloud read it again?

If you sign out by clicking the little cog icon on the library page and then select "Sign Out" from the drop down menu it should remove all downloaded books and cached application data.

I just bought Erudite. Nice reader.

The problem is it does not download & pin the books. It just let you read on the cloud.

I have also found issues with font sizes. Apparently, the reader does not respect the size you set in the configuration menu. It is always smaller than the selected size.

Unfortunately the last update from Amazon broke this functionality in Erudite and I haven't yet been able to figure out what's wrong.
