The Jolla phone, what are you hoping for?

I don't think anything would kill me more than if they fumbled the hardware.

Personally, if they just carbon-copied the N950 I think they'd have asolid base, better processor, hdmi-out, hdscreen, and micro-sd, then I don't think anyone here could possibly say no.

Deal-breakers:
Pentile display.
ANYTHING proprietary (charger, memory, etc.)

What are your dealmakers, and what're your deal-breakers?

We sure do want to be able to remove the battery, I remember with my old symbian phone when they crash removing the battery always fixed the issue :D But I can't recall a single time where my N9 would become unresponsive so far is has never crashed/frozen *Touch wood*

Are you sure not a single time? I'm sure it must have seemed unresponsive when running nitdroid :p

Man, this kind of view scares me. :) Jolla is an entirely new start-up company, composed mainly of software engineers, and entirely dependent on external third-parties to produce their hardware. I would expect their very first device to be conservative in terms of hardware; what they need to do first is to prove that their software product is excellent.

If they can get past that hurdle, they'll be more able to produce a wider variety of hardware devices. I'll be looking more towards their second or third generation of devices for them to get more agressive on the hardware specs.

I voter for physically larger - and - smaller. CPU power over battery and battery over CPU power. What am I :D

Oh yeah xD but it's never been as bad as with 5530 when the whole phone would just be stuck on home screen not responding to any kind of input.

Re: The Jolla phone, what are you hoping for?

I think it needs a decent "mind":
-At least 1GB RAM
-At least 1.5GHz
-Preferably dual core
-Preferably A15 but new A9 acceptable
-At least 16GB NAND (fit all them distros)

It needs a decent "body":
-At least 32GB microSD expand
-At least Wifi-Mirroring but microHDMI welcome
-At least Wifi bgn (dual channel preferred)
-At least BT 3, 2MP ffc, 6gyro, agps (glonass preferred)
-Notification light
-Mic and dual loudspeaker on front
-Bezeless design, thin and light

One / Two hardware styles
Firstly a 5.1in slab with kickstand (9mm)
Secondly a 4.5in tilt (13mm)

And lastly it needs a pure "soul":
Operating System based on MeeGo 1.3, fully pure and open, no surprises
