Linux on a usb stick. Seriously. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble. Just like you'd save a lot of trouble using windows for your Lumia Proto. It's not a matter of preference, but a matter of compatibility.

Most Linux phones require drivers to work under windows, which come either from the device's mass storage, a cd, or windows update. As this thing is unreleased you may not be able to find drivers that work for it. Maybe the N9 drivers will work but maybe not, and I wouldn't risk it. You can try installing Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver for it.

When I have installed Flasher application for windows XP, Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver is installed in at the end of setup.

But not work !!! :(

you no need to install it. you can boot it from CD-ROM or use virtual machine on winXP. live boot is recommended better I think.

I download UNetbootin for Windows.

I have installed Ubuntu Live 12.04.1 on 8GB USB key.

I have boot with my USB key but nothing... I already choose this key to boot at first place/position.

What can I do now?

does your PC support booting from USB? must be st in BIOS. anyway, why don't you burn a CD image to CD and boot live image without installation from CD?

now? you seen my guide how to mount disks to PC and do a backup of that via DD.

anyway, I am afraid you can somehow damage that old SW in it. better to let it do someone more advanced. I am sure there are many advanced and honest people you can send the device, they would extract whole OS, deleted the code and returned the device.

Yes you need to send it someone on pm. Someone who is trusted and who is knowledgeable about this process (like it seems it is Rusnak-COBRA).
You don't need to be to much worry about trusting someone, because you'll see everything on your monitor what is done.

Anyone want to connect to my PC?

About the protoB3:

when i received the package the device can't pass the nokia logo with key and sometime reboot when i connect the charger.
I don't know why..

http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/24027520130131002.jpg

there are 3 black holes on the screen like damaged ! but the ex-owner said me it's a software problem.
How can I do to have/access the lock password screen?

Re: Nokia N9-00 Prototype Build B3 (RM-680 codename "Dali")

that is not SW problem at all. many N950 protos and "finals" have faulty LCDs since they were made, noone took care. it was intentionally left made as cheap as possible.

wook :D I knew it!

n950, you say it can't get past the NOKIA logo (NOLO)?

That pretty much means it's bricked. Oh well, try to load the Rescue Initrd to check if the files are still on the rootfs.

with power supply connected:
switch on the phone block on NOLO.
switch off auto.
and after,
the phone reboot 2 times. The next time the phone block on the nokia logo just before lock code.
I need to remove the battery to switch off the device.
I will try tomorrow for sure with ubuntu.
If it's bricked what is the solution?
why the phone can be bricked?

Hurrian 2013-02-01 00:54

Re: Nokia N9-00 Prototype Build B3 (RM-680 codename "Dali")

If it's bricked, en the only solution is to fix the running system. We'll need more information like serial logs to debug it.

You could try flashing it with modern Harmattan and dispose of the current system, or try to debug the crashes and keep whatever SW it had on it.

wook_sf 2013-02-01 03:17

Re: Nokia N9-00 Prototype Build B3 (RM-680 codename "Dali")

i wasn't able to downgrade after harmattan :S that's really bad

Rusnak-COBRA 2013-02-01 04:27

Re: Nokia N9-00 Prototype Build B3 (RM-680 codename "Dali")

there should be no problem to backup whole system via DD in whatever status.
i am also afraid that downgrade would not be available.

I have dd the complete image in only one part.
sudo dd if=/dev/sdd of=/home/ubuntu/Downloads/sdd.img

size= 57.9 GB

Now the device is flashed with PR1.3.

http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/46994020130213001.jpg

There are two big blacks holes on the screen since I had received it.
How to change the LCD with theses blacks protections?

How to restore the single backup file on the protoB3?

I don't know.
