sdict Wikipedia
I installed sdict viewer on my N800 with the idea of using off-line Wikipedia. However, the three files on the sdict.com site seem to be busted. Does anyone know of another mirror that may contain these files?

I was able to successfully download & install the Spanish Wikipedia file from sdict.com. [So far I have only tested the Wikipedia file with the Windows client as I need to buy a higher capacity SD card to run it on my n800 - other downloads such as language dictionaries and the Merriam-Webster work fine on my n800: very speedy, I am impressed] Quote:

I will let you know if I have any success. |

Re: sdict Wikipedia
I managed to get two of the three files, namely enwiki2-2007-01-05.dct (546MB) and enwiki3-2007-01-05.dct. (569MB) I wasn't able to get the first one yet. I'd be happy to upload them, and the first if I get it, to someone to host, but I can't host a bittorrent myself, and don't have bandwidth to just add them to my website.

Re: sdict Wikipedia
I have managed to download the Dutch version (260mb) via konqueror. The 1gb enwiki1 failed twice though, each time after 150mb. I will share it on GiFT and edonkey.

Re: sdict Wikipedia
I can't download these either.
The best I have is an old (2005) English Wikipedia file half way down here http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...id=51673#files It will help to keep us going until these SDict links get fixed |
Re: sdict Wikipedia
I've tried three more times, from both sdict.com and sdict.ru, both have the same transfer speeds (around 40-70kBps), and seem to time out between 100 and 300MB. I've tried it from home and work (University, so a nice fat pipe!), and it doesn't make any difference. Still can't get #1. If anyone wants #2 or #3, and has a way I can upload it, I'd be happy to do so, but I can't host a torrent.

1. Compress both files into a 7zip, rar or tar archive with 7zip h**p://www.7-zip.org/download.html 2. Make the archive split into 400mb files so you end up with 3 compressed files. 3. Goto megaupload.com and upload all the compressed files there. (even though its says max of 500mb per file always do a little less like 400mb.) Hope this works for you. |
Re: sdict Wikipedia
Will do - I forgot about those services. Will post after it's done.

Re: sdict Wikipedia
OK, here's volume 2, in 2 parts (400MB & ~100M). They're posted on megaupload.com. I'm currently uploading volume 3, will post links soon. Still can't get volume 1.
These are in 7-zip format. Volume 2, part 1 of 2 Volume 2 part 2 of 2 And here's volume 3 Volume 3, part 1 of 2 Volume 3, part 2 of 2 And thanks to Rebski sending me a DVD containing vol 1: Volume 1, part 1 Volume 1, part 2 Volume 1, part 3 OK, I'm adding the files, one at a time, to other hosting sites. These are the exact same files as hosted at megaupload.com, just spreading them around to avoid download size restrictions. This should mean you can grab one part from each hosting service, and re-combine them with 7-Zip. I'm verifying as I have time. OK, all the files below were downloaded from megauploads and tested - if there are errors, try your download again. Edit: 2-19-08. Looks like they're gone from fileshost. Not enough downloads to keep them alive, I suspect. |
