i need some help
 

so i have been pretty patient now :p
replied to a few threads, posted one and i still didn't get any help.

I wonder now if there is somebody out there who is willing to help me through private messages.

Note: i'm a beginner when it comes to N900, i just bought mine a month ago :)

well :p

I can't download any programs, i keep getting the message "failed to download <app>, try again?"

and when i try to download an app with the Ovi store it says "Can't download <app>, applicationpackage (i think :p) not found"

and in fMMS i get the error "broken pipe"

that's about it :p

1. Are you 100% sure that you are connected to the internet?

3. If you still can't install, post your HAM log (in Hildon Application manager, click on menu, click on log - and please clear it before trying to install something, or your old logs will be visible).

I added the other repos

Hello,

Also for your fmms problem, you should call your provider support and ask for setting, i had to do so with mine.

Another thing you can try is to lower the image size, i also had to lower to medium size, this may cause your issue.

For your software install issue, it looks a lot like repository issues, you should have a look around and gather information on how and which to use. Or maybe yes, connectivity issue as suggested above.

Ok, so your Extras-devel repository doesn't work.

you did not disable your previous repositories (check the first post of the above thread), since the n900 is trying to get the program from http://repository...

it should be (again, above link):

Components: free non-free

And one more thing, be careful with extras-devel (as in development), there are programs there that can cause a lot of trouble if you are a newbie.

I'm no expert (and haven't used fMMS in ages), but maybe receiving and sending mms can depend on different settings (like incoming and outgoing mail settings).

The previous poster gave you the correct advice. Open up settings in fMMS (so you can immediately fill them in), and call your provider to ask for the settings data.

and in my defence, the guide says to disable the repositories with a red sign :p i thought the "original" repositories were fixed (there was no red signs) so therefore i did not disable them.

i already called them and got the right settings, the only thing i didn't fill in are IP, primary DNS and secundairy DNS. Is this necessary?
