Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

The port itself is almost ready but it is unfortunately not yet possible to upload it to the store (Harbour) because:
- the necessary libraries are not enabled yet (Jolla is waiting until the API is stable enough)
- paid apps are not yet possible

It will be hopefully change soon!

I hope we will be able to import our previous training from n9 version to sailfish version.
Anyway, that's already a good news to know that your app will be on my jolla. It's the last missing thing that keep me using my N9 instead of my jolla, with a good native GPS guiding software.

Great work, and it will be a pleasure for me to buy it on Jolla!

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

Seems to be problems with the last update at openrepos. The downloaded package is corrupt.

minimos 2014-01-01 09:01

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

Definitely either the package is corrupted or two versions have been updated with the same label 1.4.2.

If you download the .deb from openrepos and check its md5, you get:
Code:

$ md5sum meerun_1.4.2_armel.deb
6a6eb4aed65590c9110a1f529faf2df4  meerun_1.4.2_armel.deb

but if you see the MD5 written in dists/personal/main/binary-armel/Packages, it says:

Code:

Package: meerun
Priority: optional
Section: user/other
Installed-Size: 6352
Maintainer: MeeRunner <info@meerun.com>
Architecture: armel
Version: 1.4.2
Depends:  (...long list of dependencies snipped...)
Filename: pool/main/m/meerun/meerun_1.4.2_armel.deb
Size: 4466136
MD5sum: 31999ee552c62e639b4b55c52ae90293
SHA1: 9500f7e92f12140c41325135e438b3773534cfec
SHA256: 1ed1293e86b4ccd682f15cc3e7e39938284df50851916801bb40f4ec386fb855
SHA512: 9f86346c2613dfacdf51e8afd1b9833ac529b172b3dfc22d2ce5895be0a47eb917438e935e2fad1a79065a11b0973ec4b63f530c90dd76ac197e422858365e96

The two md5 don't match and so the package manager refuses to install.

The .deb manually unpacks ok, so probably it is not corrupted.
I think either the Packages indexes for the repo should be refreshed/regenerated or v1.4.2 should be re-published as v1.4.3.

I uninstalled Meerun, downloaded it from Openrepos and installed it manually. It worked ok, so I think the problem is somewhere in Openrepos and its automatic update process.

Mmmh. Checksums are in place for a compelling reason. Ignoring them is a really bad idea.

Nothing against Meerun or Openrepos or whatever. But....

Bwalter,

The option to export/delete trainings in the Summary screen is missing in version 1.4.2. When you press and hold on a training the menu does not show.

bwalter 2014-01-10 11:30

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

Yes, it will be fixed soon in 1.4.3! Had to hurry up to upload the release before the deadline, that's too bad that Nokia forbids any additional updates in the app store...

i'd imagine the paid apps support to give the jolla-sailores quite a headache - something like that really needs quite some preperations to work well and it's nothing you'd like to deliver in beta (since it's about peoples money, you know)... so just in case - can you think of any useful alternative compensation, once the API's are being made available?

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

If I remember correctly, OpenRepos were supposed to gain paid apps support sometimes around the end of 2013/beginning of 2014.

That would solve it, but it might hurt Jolla before they manage to get paid apps in Harbour.

that would be nice... it could actually take some pressure of the folks at jolla while supporting the app-ecosystem... atm i feel both are coexisting quite well...

Any chance the version with export-feature fixed will be available on Symbian anytime soon? I'm really missing the export-ablility to Sports Tracker, but I'd hate to revert to using the ST-app in the meantime as I've gotten used to the awesomeness that is MeeRun...

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

Very accurate also compared to a cycle computer. Did a 40,8km bikeride today and meerun showed 40,9km. Sports-tracker would probably have showed 43,7km or something.

Hi,
I just purchaced symbian version of the sw. Unfortunately my Polar HRM doesn't seem to work with the sw. The HRM belt works ok with sport tracker on symbian or android... is there anything I can do to fix this?.

You probably can't do anything. On my Nokia 808 PureView the MeeRun app is working nicely but it's not working with the old Sports Tracker's HRM. Sports Tracker and the HRM belt is working together on the Symbian platform.

Perhaps the development process is now concentrated on the Jolla platform? Furthermore, Nokia has closed the Ovi store for new updates. If the sw will ever be updated it will not appear in the Nokia Ovi store, however.

MeeRun is a brilliant piece of sw, I think. Hopefully it will be available on the Jolla platform with a working HRM!

Hi,

I'm happy with MeeRun on N9, works fine with my Polar Wearlink+ Bluetooth heart rate belt. I got it for free from openrepos, so where can i donate to author?

As for feature requests my favorite ones are:
  • more info on lock screen: heart rate (current/avg/max, lap avg/max), distance (from start, lap), avg speed (from start, lap). Better yet, integrate with standard lock screen (and/or scriptable info on Billboard) - if thats ever possible and feasible.
  • Pebble smart watch support, so that i can see time, distance, speed, HR on watch and start/pause/resume/lap/stop workout using watch buttons -- if that's possible.

Best thing to do is vote here: https://together.jolla.com/question/...-applications/ so that the Jolla folks get paid application suppor to the store ASAP.
You can't expect the author to give you an rpm in exchange of a (promise of a) donation.

Thank you for the info. I just received a new Polar Wearlink+ Bluetooth heart rate belt and made the very first test ride. MeeRun on N9 works very well with the new HRM belt.

The old Sports Tracker's HRM belt does not work properly on MeeRun version 1.4.2 and N9. HRM seems to be active and working but MeeRun will crash later on.

MeeRun is a very well designed sports tracking app. I like it very much. MeeRun has not a web site of it's own but you can import the GPX file of the workout into the website of Sports Tracker or Endomondo, for example. The HRM data will be included.

The replay option of MeeRun is well done and you perhaps don't need an external web site as often as it is needed by using the Sports Tracker application?

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

I would still like to upload my workouts from MeeRun to a website to analyse them, share them with friends, etc. As a temporary workaround I wrote a shell script on my Linux PC that checks for new training (.mrgpx) files, converts them to gpx and uploads them to Garmin Connect using GcpUploader. I set up a cron job to do everything automatically. There are several services to sync Garmin Connect workouts to other sites (like Runkeeper, MapMyFitness, Fitbit, etc.), so they are also sent there automatically.
But still that would be really nice if the MeeRun app supported a sort of uploading feature natively.

Do you mean that this script can upload a training file to for example the Sportstracker website automatically and that this could be possible to do from MeeRun itself if implemented somehow? If possible it would be awesome! It's a little painful to transfer my gpx-file from my phone to my computer and then import it to sportstracker from there.

cuh7b5 2014-04-10 13:06

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

Actually this is more complex: I have a backup script running on my PC which downloads files from my N9 to my PC including my meerun workouts. Another script, also running on my PC converts and uploads these workouts to Garmin Connect website.

So these scripts run on my PC, not on my phone. With some modifications and installing some extra SW this might be possible though to run such a script on the N9. You need python 2.x, GcpUploader (python script and its dependencies), cron, optionnaly gpsbabel (if you want to use tcx files, too) for N9. I am not sure this would be an easy run...

As for the Sportstracker website, this is not feasible at the moment brecause AFAIK they don't have an API. Syncing with Garmin works fine though on my PC.

juiceme 2014-04-10 17:45

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

I have similar setup, except it includes scripts in 3 different places;
  • 1.) a cloudsync.sh script runs on my N9, and when a track result is completed, it is uploaded to my private cloud (at my home computer)
  • 2.) a script runnning on my cloud server at home sees the upload, and it prepares the data to a simpler format and uploads it to my web server running on a hosting site.
  • 3.) a php/javascript script on my webserver displays the results as a map plot on my excercise page

I use MeeTrainer instead of MeeRun (mostly because I am a lazy bastard and never bothered to switch when started using one tracker) but I'd say the same system would be usable on MeeRun also.

At last, this great app for the Jolla!

Some minor tweaks would be welcome (draging map mainly).

Meerun is impressive, the accuracy of the recorded track (length, etc) is the best seen so far:)

Ozymandias 2014-05-19 07:47

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

I second the Jolla problem with deleted tracks re-appearing.

Also, because I'm new to sports trackers, is any random HRM with bluetooth fine or do they have to have anything important? I've read some reviews of HRMs on Amazon that said they don't appear in the BT list but the apps can connect them, will these work with MeeRun?
Thanks!

Thanks for making this available for free in OpenRepos!

Is there any way to migrate the data from Harmattan to Sailfish? I want to avoid export/import to be honest, as tar/untar is easier, provided that the data format is the same.

EDIT: tar/untar of ~/.MeeRun seems to do the trick :-)

ggabriel 2014-05-25 18:30

Re: [Announce] MeeRun - Sport Tracking application for Nokia N9, Symbian and BB10

Right, gave it a quick try today and it seems to work well, albeit a few differences with the Harmattan version.

One thing I noticed is this: use meerun in a training session, stop it, leave it open, go to the browser or open an email which needs the browser's parser and the Jolla will hang/reboot.

I checked the log and it says that the reason for the reboot is unknown.

It happened twice and the third time I used it, I made sure I closed meerun before using the browser. This time it didn't reboot/hang.

I'm on version 1.7.0, maybe someone else can try to see if it's reproducible?
