That IMHO looks more of a TODO sort of a thing - they are still deciding how to expose the 9+ running apps (a shelf, folder, more desktops, just show them, etc.).
Even if they really implement it like this, it would still be better than on BB10, where opening the 9th application automatically kills the first one.

How the other half is connected to the main phone ? Flash needs power, so power connector is needed. Data can be transferred wirelessly (keyboard, better speakers..?) but it needs more power ? Physical connectors are difficult to use and probably they will be broken sometimes..

The only thing the other half may be used for is NFC related stuff IF the mainbody has NFC chip in reader mode. That way they could communicate SMALL amount of data between the halfes.

What I think is that they have a usb like pins ready so power and control external components. Something like usb-otg but not with the usual usb-plug.. more like jolla's own version of the plug. So this allow for about 100mA to power what ever the other half has, no need to reinvent the wheel.

pure speculation though
