Indeed, that post is also not very interesting.
Music players and music management software is going to be available in great numbers and as someone still using and loving the Radio TX feature of the N808 when using random rental cars I am looking at a compromise less music functionality / flexibility regardless of how nice the standard music software is.

In trade I want to see secure XMPP integrated + videocall.
SIP.
After all this is a telephone, a communication centered device that is supposed to go beyond 2009 / functionality of the N900.
It is made by brains from the Nokia team that has proven to understand what makes and excellent Mobile implementation of the Linux OS with all the basic features integrated.

And it is supposed to run on steroids (faster Chinese hardware).

Tell me something about security options , that this device will not send all my contacts to a shady server before I can even discover the basic functionality of applications rights management is lacking.

Show some web browser that allows me to access desktop sites w/o adds and scripts that eat my battery.

So far we see only basics. Rows of icons with a working touch screen.
Time to upgrade that image a little bit, Jolla.

Let some professional user make a cool video for once.

Show some multitasking / copy pasting from websites to email to chat, videoconferencing including file transfers in high stress environment.
Something people would want to learn if only the device would offer the possibility and it's creators wouldn't be too shy to tell the world about it.

I think it was rather the CPU than the RAM which was holding the N9 back to be faster.

And apparently you omitted my full post, which indicates were fundamentally in agreement...

I want to start to see a full narrative soon though, getting tired of the quilt-work, the dramatic affect they seem to think it has longer-term just isn't there.

"Thanks everyone for all the love shown. I said it is going to be legendary but I didn't necessarily mean for everyone :) #Jolla"

P.S. "Home of my personal thoughts, not the ones of my company" !!

I did say that last week and also pointed that out to the jollausers site but still people wait...

Yeah, they've been a tiny bit more specific in some recent interviews, saying "before xmas", who knows if that's accurate though.

Yep, sadly it was always going to be well into 2014 before those outside Finland & northern/central EU can get their hands on one, I'll have several new devices before then.

Well, I remember people getting to Europe with low cost airlines to get early Windows Mobile devices that were not yet available overseas for some reason. :)

I was using Palm T back then and wondered: "They are really going so far by plane to get THAT?" :)

Indeed, I'm not that fanatical though, simply not worth it for me, even the cheapest airfares from Oz cost quite a lot!

well, why not combine it with some some other cool stuff like a vacation . What can you do in ginland more than getting a jolla.

Good point, maybe I'll do just that, then again, I have lots of financial burdens in my life right now, so I don't foresee next yr being feasible.

I wish, when I was really young I tried to pick-it-up but I quickly lost patience/interest, nowadays I'm barely fit enough to get past the breakers!

Well, since we are OT, if you are going to go on holidays to get a Jolla, make sure you get the Jolla in the last day to avoid staying in the hotel playing with the phone all the time.

Cant be correct. IT doesn't fit my countdown.plus why not release a week earlier so people can give it a way for Christmas. I think it will be earlier.

Lurking Stskeeps as a sign of the release?-) It's probably a sign of Jolla's interest to launch some community site. I hope.

Don't you think trolls will follow?-) Unless there will be stricter moderation, then someone will complain too. But new site will for sure be a fresh start, and hopefully technically focused like meego.com was while it was alive.

meego.com was good, but at the same time it was very limited. We had very few discussion there and most threads have just a few pages. I don't think jolla going for Max 100 users, They want real people, users from every part of the world, hopefuly users, devs from all existing OS You understand that that won't end well when pople trying to know best ;). That means you can expect every kind of user, unless jolla fails big time, which we don't hope. Meego.com also had a brand new device to discuss, we don't yet.

But I think one great way could be to have a tech section for all areas. and one where you can talk. OS vs OS vs Phones Vs companies, release dates delays reason , you got it.

Another cool thing would be if only users who has a jolla phone can register for the forum :D

The single most important thing is how the culture is handle by the forum. The informal leaders are important and the way poeple speaking to eachother.

Also, If you cant have the discussion here, your can't have it on the other side of the fence...

anyone remembers Orangebox?

...

That could exclude developers who don't own a device, and they Jolla hardly want to do do that.

Also don't forget many potential users would be excluded from purchasing due to geographical and financial constraints, would you really want to restrict them from joining?

Finally this would hardly be in the "open" spirit.

I'm willing to pay $75 for a Sailfish image that I can simply download and install onto my HTC One. Make a license deal with CyanogenMod or something. CM maintains a lot of support for various phones already.

If they don't do that it's going to get hacked onto so many Android phones anyways and CyanogenMod will get pressured more and more by the public to put Sailfish features on their ROM.

So CM buys license for compatibility layer and license for Sailfish OS and CM gets downloads profit.

Something "roughly" like that may be 1 feasible tack (in a multi-pronged strategy), why not think about it more carefully, re-word it, & then put it directly to them.

No. I get a 'HTTP 502 Bad Gateway' error. And their email gateway bounces emails to the site administrator because it cannot relay the email ...

This may not be showing Jolla in the best light ...
