Let's speculate a bit more about the big bezels and the overall large size of the device: What if it is intended to be larger than normal phones? I'm thinking about the modularity of the phone and the possible HWKB. Maybe they want the keyboard to be larger and in that way more user friendly (~E90 likish) with more area for the keyboard and larger buttons. Just thinking.. :)

E: maybe the real reason for the bezel in bottom of the screen is that it is for the android applications (menu, back button) but they are hidden in the UI

makes me think that it will be designed primarily for the needs of network operators.

So the screen resolution is not yet set nor is the dual core processor.

So I assume there be a lot of changes as form the video you saw how much the OS changed!

OK. Video was playing in the thumbnail, so having Xterm thumbail updating while minimized should be possible (there was some speculation that apps that run in the background are not allowed to update thumbnails IIRC). YAY for minipreviews ala maemo!!!

I'd at least assume that SailfishOS is likely to be (ultimately) as customizable as Maemo. At least, that'd be the hope.

With that in mind... if and/or when they reveal for certain that there will be an external keyboard accessory - and one that DOESN'T require its own charging setup like pretty much every iPhone keyboard I've looked at - I'll likely pick one up as a replacement for my n900. But not one femtosecond earlier.

Absolutely ugly, it's like a brick from the past..... no!, it's like two attached bricks!!

Can't be compared at all with the N9's beautiful design. Unfortunately, I guess that the OS won't ever be fully functional in the N9 (as it always happens when porting OSes across mobile devices).

I concur, not that nice, but the device is half prize of the n9 wich I think is a nice move.

Bezels are great. :p They allow you hold the phone comfortably, instead of having to cradle it like fvcking baby (a problem exacerbated by a having a crapacitive screen).

Agree with Marxian. Its insane to give Jolla money, when the device may not be available 7 months from now and dont even know the specs, nor functionality of this OS. N9 had the worst email client, have they improved it? The text input was the worst when compared to iOS and WP. Despite the design, N9 was ridden with bugs and hardware flaws. Will this improve? Marc Dillon is saying: trust us, and give us your money. I am saying, given your track record with N9, I will not trust till I see the device and read level headed reviews. Until then..........hope Jolla learned from N9 fiasco. It will be interesting to see how much money they raise on this pre-order strategy to fund their salaries and production.....

To compare it with the N9 is unfair (design perfection in a touch device if you ask me). However, I think it's much prettier than a Galaxy 4, a HTC One and the iPhone 5. It's not as nice as a Lumia 920 or a Sony Xperia Z however.

I think they've taken it from the join.jolla.com:

I think this is just referring to the display, not the phone name (didn't find anything about estrade display in google, so not sure)

Funny, estrade/estrada means that in most european languages. Strange that in finnish too. Most common european words are totally weird in finnish (and hungarian) usually

So, no info on the type of CPU/GPU so far. At least the CPU is dual core. No info on networks as well (4G is a confusing enough name). No info on whether Sailfish will be open sourced eventually. So we'll have to wait for more details. I'm not going to make a preodrer until at least network compatibility details will surface up.

4G was confirmed by Engadget as LTE (though which version and which countries supported will be announced later)

I don't get the voucher thing for pre-orders. Does that 100 e / 40 e mean, that you pay the given amount now, and rest when the phone comes out? So it's kind of partial payment with some added goodies.

Or, does it mean that you can get the phone pre-ordered with price 299 e price + all the added stuff? That sounds too cheap, so I guess the option #1 is the right one.

I don't see why people are complaining about the size. I measured the dimensions in the press release photos and it seems like it will be approximately 63x125.2mm, which is smaller then e.g. this other 4.5" smartphone: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gala...i8730-5271.php

I'll pass. Sadly, because i'm waiting for this device to be a real sucessor for us, all N9 fans, but, again, it's not interesting at all to me. It looks ugly, fat, big bezels, strange design, and customizable cases is NOT a crucial feature for NONE of us, don't care how much they advertise it. Again, it's not a device for me, which makes me sad, because i wanted it was :(

PD: But all still can change if they reveal a keyboard phone. A N950 for the masses, Hell! I want a N950 with updated internals!
