Mark Dilllon should be CEO again. I mean, he is by far the most recognizable (important in the real world) and seems more energetic. I don't think most of my friends who are interested in Jolla even know they changed to Tomi...

Well, I ordered in the first hour and I didn't get an invitation to buy :(

Agree. Who is Tomi ;)

That's the type of thing that makes the release clouded.

Ive tweeted at them. Is it the 100 euro pre orders that are getting shipped on the 27th or does it include the 40euro and the 0euro even

ggabriel 2013-11-15 13:51

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

I remember both 100€ and 40€ preorders included the "1st in the queue" feature - one possibility is that Jolla has a sequence, they won't tell you which number you are in that sequence, and they will be offering those 450 precious devices to the first 450 individuals who preordered the options that had the "1st in the queue" feature.

Now, read between the lines: this doesn't necessarily mean that if you preordered in the first day (or hour!) [and your address is in one of the "supported" countries], you will get the device. If more than 450 preorders from supported countries have been made in the same day (or hour!), then there is a chance that you won't get it, even if preordered in the same day (or hour!).

Another possibility is that this is all BS and Jolla is just doing whatever. We won't know this, as we didn't get the sequence numbers in advance. Even if they gave them away now, there will still be the possibility that they were tampered with.

Sadly, there is no strong evidence of anything, except that there are a few folks who got the email, and probably others who don't read/post in TMO. At the end of the day, 450 is a very low number if they are certain they'll sell in the 100s of 1000s.

Am not fussed about the 450 devices tbh, just if 0 euro pre orders get shipped as a pre order

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

A lot of talk about ordering in the first hour. I got the invitation from dna and if I remember correctly I ordered quite a few hours after the site went up (still first day).
It's a pity I have obligatory studying during the release :(

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

So it means they will start doing on-line shipping right away as well?

Quote:

When and where will Jolla launch first?

The launch party is on 27 November at Narinkka Square in Helsinki, Finland, where DNA will setup a pop-up store and deliver the world’s first pre-ordered Jolla. At the event a total of 450 Jollas will be sold to customers who have pre-ordered their phones in the first pre-booking campaign. At the same time, we will start mail deliveries in the order of pre-bookings.

450 is not a low number at all, if they all have to be crammed into the DNA store in Helsinki at the same time. :)

They've given no information about the 0€ preorder. If you read the tweets/FAQ, they always say "those who preordered first" - I'm 99% certain that that's not the 0€ one.

It would be quite nice if Jolla could clarify this, but I bet that if they say "this launch doesn't include the 0€ preorders", we'll start getting super anxious about the date for those preorders, which they may not have.

So, I'm taking the patience pill, as the other option is freezing myself and ask somebody to defrost me when the device is out ;-)

From that perspective, maybe, but I was talking about the grand scheme of things.

Even 0 Euro option was preorder. It was no different information about the option. 100 40 and 0 should be tähandled the same way.

No, there was a clear differentiation: first 2 were "1st" and the 0€ was "2nd". I have no idea what the second campaign promised in terms of queue priority.

Yeah - mine was a 0€ pre-order - I ordered from outside the EU.

But I tweeted Jolla, asking if I could change my shipping address to an EU address, so that I can receive the Jolla phone for Christmas. They didn't say that there was anything wrong with that - just that I should mail care at jolla.com.

Now my Shipping Address is an EU one. :-)

This is the DNA Store nearest to the location of the event on 27th:

Sadly, I can't find the page where the 3 options are available - when those were there, I remember seeing some priority to the 100 and 40 orders over the 0 orders.

Of course, you may not trust my memory (and you would be wise not to). Evidence rules.

Now, we can compare notes if you like - if you have a 100 or 40 preorder, have you got a sequence number? I've got a 0 order which doesn't.

The above makes sense as this: http://web.archive.org/web/201306091...ders/new?order[bundle_id]=2 said that you got a "Limited ed. Jolla preorder number" (whatever that means) and this: http://web.archive.org/web/201307071...ders/new?order[bundle_id]=4 doesn't include any preorder number or anything.

Dave999 2013-11-15 15:00

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

There were no clear indication at the options or mail received telling users that 0 option was excluding from release date. 100 gave a TShirt+special other side. . 40 was removed(sold out LoL) and replaced with 100 and 0. 40 didn't make sense.

Just an order ID. It contains letters and numbers.

I don't like unfair. Let's hope I don't need to start "we are jolla, we are un... fair" campaign. No reason yet.

I can ignore the fact of these 500 become most or all are first day preorder. But after that. Order...

Absolutely not....
They always said* that those who pre-ordered with $ wouldn't be prioritised over those who didn't, it would be on a 1st come 1st serve basis.
All the $100 option did was entitle you to the: "limited edition" Other Half, T-shirt, & a down-payment towards final payment, the $40 (which was eventually dropped) just got you a shirt IIRC.
If they're changing it now I'd be rather annoyed, had they articulated this from the outset I would've dropped some $...

*Well, they may not have been saying it "lately"

Thank you - this is exactly what I remember and it used to be very clear in their website. It also makes sense that if you put cash you get priority over whoever didn't.

EDIT: thanks, Thoke, that was exactly what I was looking for. It isn't spelled out, but it is clear that the 0€ option does _not_ give you priority at all. You just join the movement and are notified etc etc.

EDIT2: clearly I misread you. Paying customers were always going to get a phone first, the rest were going to get updated with a dummy order or whatever. Happy to be convinced otherwise if Jolla clarifies or somebody has a tweet from JollaHQ.

You will be among the first...

0 option.

jalyst 2013-11-15 15:42

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

No, I remember it being asked multiple times & them confirming that there'd be no priority for those who laid down $, all such pre-orders were buying, is more-or-less what I outlined above.

IMNSHO: "You will be among the first" != "Preorder Jolla"

This is a semantic trick: you are always among the first so long as somebody bought after you...

It may also be that ltd. ed. Jollas are being produced first and due to that shipped first.

No matter who said this or not - it has to be nonsense, and if you'd think about it for just a moment you'd agree.

The €0-option was to "sign up, create an account, show your interest,..." - in short, give them your contact details.

They pointed everyone from outside the EU (+Norway/Switzerland) to the €0-option, knowing they might never ship to this one particular country the person came from.

On the other hand, they have pre-orders (already payed for) from markets they know they'll serve.

What do you expect? That they stick to a first come, first serve principle and let thousands of payed pre-orders collect dust only because "order" #4 was a €0-registration from the Republic of Nauru?

No. Just something called "Order number". The receipt contains the sentence:

Quote:

We will notify you of your actual priority number at the end of the pre-order period.
That never happened.

Look at the image posted before. No distinction was made. It was a preorder as well as the 100 Euro.

But let's ask jolla before we go berserk!

Too bad I can't find the very first preorder pictures anywhe, those with small pictures of the phone, T-shirt & priority status. At least that's what I remember.

You don't like reason, I know.

So in your world, a person signing up (without paying) from, say, Canada should get the phone before a EU-resident who payed for it. Even though they stated Canada is not on their list yet. Well. Interesting.

Agree with benny... if you didn't pay, your best bet is to go to Helsinki or just wait. If you are a non-EU (excl Switzerland), YMMV as import laws apply.
