So, the "exclusive" Poppy Red other half won't be available to purchase for those outside the pre-order bunch? Woohoo, truly exceptional.

Well it seems they have seriouly f**ked up the queue order then if you already got the shop invite. I ordered on the first day (20.5.) and even was in the first round of invites to the launch party but didn't get the shop invite email yet...

I ordered 23.5 and got the email that allowed me to pay the phone around 12pm, about five hours later I got an email that told me I would get the email that allows me to pay the phone soon :)

But I paid with PayPal and didn't receive any confirmation email from Jolla (as promised, I did get one from PayPal confirming my payment)

Anyone else experienced the same/anyone received the confirmation&tracking email from jolla after payment?

I placed my order on the first day about 1-2 hours after launch from what I recall... the only email I've received is the one that says I'll receive ANOTHER email soon :P

One tiny update in jolla.com, it says in the Operating System tab that "Frequent system updates are provided over-the-air. Usage of WLAN is recommended."

Also, there's return policy in the support section of jolla.com now.

Quite many people have reported that PayPal paying hasn't worked. Finish banking payments seem to have worked fine, at least mine did.

The only thing we know about the exclusive TOH is the colour, it still might or might not contain something extra in sw or hw. I wouldn´t judge it before we see the whole package on 27th.

A bit off topic and FWIW, mine came secured - most email I receive is secure (NB: port 25 can and cannot be secure). Any version of sendmail in the last few years on any relatively decent OS distribution comes configured to fail if a secured communication cannot be achieved.

If you provide an email address hosted in the US (or anywhere that you don't own for that matter) to Jolla, then it's your responsibility.

It is a shame that organisations more powerful than the individual don't provide with an alternative to webmail (e.g., why can't you have your own domain name and transfer that among ISP's like you do with phone numbers? building email and other services on top of that with current hardware is almost trivial).

Anyway, I digress, I don't think that Jolla is by any means using an unsecure communication policy by sending you a password on an email - banks send you PIN's on normal post, which is as insecure. I'd be happy receiving a password on an email that is transmitted using TLS/SSL, then I'd change the password as soon as I get the email. Eve won't have time to decrypt that message. Considering what that password gives you access to (i.e., buying a phone, not even your credit card details), then one could assume that the secuirty utilised is actually overkill for the potential hacker's gain.

You only lost it because you know it's the weekend and that there is absolutely no chance that you'll hear anything from Jolla for the next under-48 hours. Have some rest, go for a run/walk/whatever. Drink some beer (responsibly) and you'll see your excitement back on Monday.

Gordon "Dave999" Ramsey. I'm only watching NFL once a year at super Bowl. And that "beer". It shouldn't be allowed to be called beer. It only happens in America.

That alone is something to be excited about. Some of the pre-oroderers like me outside EU have to keep on waiting. I have never been feeling so tired of "Stay tuned!"

biatch0 2013-11-23 17:13

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

You could always just order it and have it delivered to a friend/family in the EU and then have them courier it to you. That's what I'm doing. Sure, it'll cost a bit more... but you'll not have to worry so much about "staying tuned".

Just to be clear, I'd much rather they (Jolla) just charged me an extra EURxxx to deliver internationally instead of having me jump through hoops.

I'm sure they would be happy to just charge a few extra euros for shipping.

Instead of having to deal with mobile device regulations and regulatory approvals for device sales, warranties, localisations, network partners, logistics, marketing, legal representation, customer support, etc and so forth.

I think I wrote this before when this came up, but I'm happy that Jolla is doing it the way they are doing. There are plenty of 'hobby' Linux/OS-phone projects. And do not get me wrong. I'm not against those and many of them are great projects. We just don't any more of those. There are plenty enough of those great projetcs. Its just that we deserve to have Jolla as well and their way of trying to do it like a serious business enterprise that does things like a business, instead of a Stallmanian idealogical project (<-- not that there's anything wrong with that).

well. the question is how bad you want it. I could set up shop and buy them and send to you. it would be even faster if someone in finland could help out with this.

you send me money and i send you the phone. i wont charge anything extra for TMO members..
shipping cost
extra shipping box
phone.

you have to take all the risk with no payback if something happen with device during shippmen or if it dissapears.

If you prefer diaspora over facebook and got the new mail from Jolla there were some links to some social media sites where Jolla is active. One of them was diaspora so don't forget to click http://jolla.us7.list-manage.com/tra...8&e=488c94427c so they know people in EU is using diaspora the open social media...

Also they'r on: identi.ca

I understand these are all issues... the thing is that people who are willing to order to an EU address, pay for courier back to their own country, etc. most likely understand all of those things, and are willing to take the risk of possibly not receiving the device (or having to pay tax/duty/excise/whatever). All that being said, I'd still rather give the EURxxx on top of the device price to Jolla rather than Fedex or DHL (or insert your preferred courier company here). The risk is the same regardless of which company I pay the courier fees to.

To be clear, I wouldn't yell at the Jolla folks and start karate chopping tables in a rage... it would just be very much appreciated by the (slightly insane) fans around the world who want the device but are stuck in limbo until their country is confirmed (or confirmed NOT) to get Jolla support.

I have to fly Helsinki between christmas and new year and Where is the best/biggest/most central DNA shop?. I expect to get My jolla before that but you never know With jolla. They changer their minds to often. Any others stores selling jolla?

kinggo 2013-11-24 10:20

Re: #JollaLoveDay - 20th May - device announcement

It just doesn't work that way. Sure, there are many pople willing to risk with it but Jolla can't sell you a device and then wash their hands. Let's put aside operators, localization and al that but they still would have to provide you with some warranty. I belive that there's no country that allows someone to sell something without some kind of protection for the consumer.
