[Announce] Nine2D - Dropbox sharing plugin replacement for MeeGo / Harmattan
 

As you probably already know Dropbox changed their API recently and integrated Dropbox sharing stopped working. Since Nokia decided not to fix the issue I've made Nine2D in order to replace it.

Installation package is available on OpenRepos.net: http://openrepos.net/content/nine2d

After installation go to Accounts application, click on "Add account" and in the list of account types select Nine2D (after first installation red box is displayed instead of icon - restart is required in order for icon to display correctly). In subsequent window tap on "Authorize application". Web browser is then displayed and there enter email and password (if asked) to connect to to your Dropbox account. Press "Allow" in order to give Nine2D right to access your Dropbox account. When done return to account creation window (web browser can be safely closed) and tap on "Complete authorizing". If everything goes well application closes and you can see new Nine2D account in Accounts application.

To test upload functionality go to Gallery and select a picture, tap on it and then tap on sharing icon - from list select the Nine2D account and then press on "Share" button. You can monitor progress of upload in the Transfers screen. Finally check whether the picture uploaded correctly in your Dropbox account.

When I share a picture and I will change to a different folder(default is root), it doesn't work.
When I press the update, only circle rolling around the topbar, nothing else. ???
But sharing to the root-folder and folder creating works great.

Can you PM me your e-mail - I'll send you the debug build with some instructions so we can investigate. I had those reports but I wasn't able to reproduce it myself and for others it started to work by itself after few attempts.

I hate those kinds of bugs - same phone, same app, same dropbox account and same folder structure - and it sometimes works and sometime it doesn't :confused:

In my case, upload fails just when it is about to finish. It does not matter to which folder I try to upload the picture.

When I choose the photo to upload, The NineDbox no update my files and folders and the upload no work.. Whats happen with NineDbox?

Hi Filip,
The last update I got by email was 0.0.5 and it works fine, what improvements does versión 0.0.9 include? If it is just bugs fixing. I guess I'll keep the last one I have installed.

Probably you have some folder name with "unicode" chars in it's name - please upgrade to 0.0.10 and see if it works now.

Nice, didn't know you were this soon to release.
Since I was in on this a bit early, do I need to uninstall then reinstall? I didn't see an update prompt, nor did I get one when manually looking for updates.

Seeing this integrated into other file managers just makes too much sense. Nice leverage of the collaborative aspects of this platform.

You can just install over existing version - for automatic updates package should be in some of the repositories (maybe some day)

No 'Drop' in name and no 'box'?
Icon at early versions yes, now it doesn't.

BTW did you use PUT or POST for upload?

NineDbox - there is 'box' - but I wasn't under impression that could be the problem (for example Dropian) as they say "sounds like" so it's a hit and miss.
Before 0.0.6 i just used icon from original dropbox plugin - I changed to new icon in order to avoid problems - they sad nothing about icon so I'm good...

Hi, I have following problem with the application. After phase 1 I receive sms from dropbox with security code. After this application came back to login screen without phase 3 or asking for security code from sms. Sometimes the alert appears "Input name allow acces, not found".

I think you have set your dropbox account to use "two-step verification" that is not supported - if you still wish to use the app please try disabling two-step verification

Without this community this phone would have sunk into obscurity already. This community does more for this phone and platform than Nokia has for the past year other than some obscure "cell provider" fix. What does Nokia have to show for its "overhaul" and jumping off the "burning platform"? 5% market share and a lame OS that few want when a few years ago they had 40%. I can only imagine what could have been had they stayed with, supported 100% and pushed this OS worldwide.

A huge thanks to filip for making available again a plugin/feature that shipped with the phone that blockhead Nokia refused to fix.
