Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)
Not yet but I have ordered and paid for one already.
However, my point was that Jolla still has many bugs to work on and improvements to make: stability, browser, wifi hotspot, MMS, etc, etc. And someone has to get this improved Sailfish later work on N9 hardware. Rest assured, that this is not an easy task if you want it to function 100% like Meego is right now. I am not saying that it is impossible, I am just stating that it will take a lot of time. Just look at the Nitroid project - it is still not functional and most likely never will be. |
Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)
Ofc you can't expect that Jolla will be bugless in their start, just look how big is jolla and how big was NOKIA when they were developing meego... Jolla needs some time, so if you are a programmer then you should buy jolla, otherwise I suggest to wait... Anyway this is my opionion
http://www.talouselama.fi/nakoisleht...evice/a2218386 Read this, Sailfish on other andorid devices? why not on N9 then? :O |
Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)
I suggest the first post should be updated with the current status and installation instructions, it's quite hard to find things in this thread.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)
The SBJ is actually an Android device with hybris on top :p
More Jollas with Sailfish on top could be brought up really easily! Oh yeah, btw, thanks sailors! Code:
# zypper in -t pattern jolla-configuration-n9Code:
# zypper in -t pattern jolla-configuration-n900I'll leave it to you guys how to get to those configs! You're treading on ice wrt legal implications. (warning: EULA) |

Jolla & closely related entities can't be expected to support 3rd-party devices so that they're completely bug-free, reliable, & performant. That's only what you can expect when you buy a Sailfish one, or if you buy a Sailfish license, but I don't see them doing that for end-users. It might be feasible for some Android devices, but it gets much trickier for the N9/950... |

He's going to share his findings in more detail later, he's taking the kids ice-skating now ;)
I'd wager it's still quite heavily broken... |
