Did you manage to get the N9/N950 specific binary blobs working, or did you have to trow them at the proverbial water bird, i.e. chuck them out. (finnsih proverb “heitä sillä vesilintua”).

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Whenever I'm connected to the Internet with 3G, I get the following error when I run ssu as ‘devel-su’ (even with ‘ssu --help’):

Code:

bash-3.2# ssu ur
[D] NetworkService::setPath::447 - void NetworkService::setPath(const QString&) "Method "GetProperties" with signature "" on interface "net.connman.Service" doesn't exist
"

Internet is working fine (e.g. brower works, zypper in works, etc...). Doesn't happen when I'm connected with WLAN.

Slightly off topic -
But is there a list of things that work and things that dont yet?

There is a GitHub issue tracker for it. Also Sailfish wiki-article lists a couple of known issues.

Has anyone been able to get smtp with STARTTLS working with the email application? It's the only way to get email sending working with my university email account. Well, the other way would be to get MS Exchange ActiveSync to work.

great OS so far....running well accept for some hickup and battery not charging....love the UI!

at first I use the image from Max83.....it doesn't turn out good in term of stability....but after changing to vgrade R3 yeah....it's all good!

I found out later that Max83 image has been remove from mediafire....

I'n running 1.0.1.10 now via vgrade R3 image....but I've received system update to 1.0.0.5

it seems like a downgrade to me....or should I just proceed to upgrade the system?

Thanks for that. It might be a while before I switch to sailfish at this rate.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

You need to put in the new ssu.ini on the R3 image to fix the 'upgrade to 1.0.0.5' problem, and also get store working.

Never mind, I found the answer in this thread:

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Hi,
Need a bit of help. I can't connect through SSH to my N9 when Sailfish runs. It is connected with an USB cable. I did setup a password in the settings Developer Mode GUI.

I've tried ssh nemo@192.168.2.15 and ssh root@192.168.2.15, this runs for a long time (let's say 1 mn) and "Connection refused".

Any idea? Thanks.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

setup static ip for pc 192.168.2.14 and 255.255.255.0 netmask

btw, does 192.168.2.15 pings?

romu 2013-12-18 08:49

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Thanks Coderus, no I can't ping 192.168.2.15.

romu 2013-12-18 08:56

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Stupid question, but how can I set a static IP address? The /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts folder is empty.

When you connect the device with USB in developer mode, do you get the USB0 device in ifconfig?

romu 2013-12-18 11:10

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

yes, it appeared and was able to install fileman from the device. But no SSH.

I've reflashed with the new itviewer image...and some obvious progresses, great!

I couldn't connect through SSH using USB either, so I tried using WLAN and that worked. The IP-address will be different though, depending on your AP/router.

are there any other changes, you've noticed?

The most important change I've noticed is the keyboard feedback is much better. And it seems there is some text correction.

It asks to upgrade to Sailfish 1.0.0.5 :D

Still no Google calendar sync :( Thath's one of the most important missing feature to me.

But even with this image, no way to connect through SSH/USB: "Connection refused".

EDIT: ssh works through wifi, better than nothing.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

If we can really have 3.4 kernel on N9, we should be able to use the binary mysatroker kernel module... or not?

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

I'm trying to install the new statefs from @coderus, I run:
Quote:

pkcon install-local statefs-provider-bme-1.0.0-3.armv7hl.rpm
And I get:
Quote:

Fatal error: statefs-provider-bme-1.0.0-3.armv7hl conflicts with statefs-provider-upower provided by statefs-provider-upower-0.2.48-1.7.3.armv7hl
So I tried:
Quote:

pkcon remove statefs-provider-upower
And I get:
Quote:

Fatal error: Specified path '/var/tmp/TmpDir.JSxAxV' is not a directory: dir:///var/tmp/TmpDir.JSxAxV
If I tried to install the new statefs package again, it still fails on conflict.

Any help ? Thanks.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

try with zypper or rpm

romu 2013-12-18 13:17

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Thanks. Seems to work with zypper but needs a reboot of the phone.

bme service fails to start at phone boot. Must be started manually.

Out of topic question but bmestat says: "battery condition: POOR", what does it mean exactly?

With zypper it says :
Quote:

Problem: statefs-provider-bme-1.0.0-3.armv7hl conflicts with statefs-provider-upower, given by statefs-provider-upower-0.2.48-1.7.3.armv7hl
Solution 1: uninstallation of statefs-provider-upower-0.2.48-1.7.3.armv7hl
Solution 2: not install statefs-provider-bme-1.0.0-3.armv7hl

Choose one of the options above by number or cancel [1/2/c] (c):
So we should choose 1 to uninstall statefs-provider-upower ?

romu 2013-12-18 13:22

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Yes, that's what I did and it worked. But phone has to be restarted and the bme service doesn't start at boot, at least for me. Must be run manually.

Yeah, thanks, I confirmed 1st option in :
# zypper in statefs-provider-bme-1.0.0-3.armv7hl.rpm
to install new statefs bme provider from coderus.

After boot both bmestat and GUI battery indicator were working, showing the correct battery level, but the charger cable was connected during boot. As soon as I disconnnected the charger cable, bmestat stopped, so I have to start it (being root) with "systemctl start bme-rm-680-bin.service". After that it don't stop anymore.

So, thanks d0m1n1k and coderus for posts #898 and #900.

Now we have battery indicator (GUI and CLI with bmestat command) working on Nokia N9/N950 running Sailfish. But we have to start the service after each reboot manually, see #898.

No.

(1) A Jolla employee in this forum mentioned that it's a hardware dependency. The N9 hardware is not capable of running it.

(2) You haven't payed Myriad for a license to use it. So it would be piracy.

  • Close the Store app first.
  • Replace your /etc/ssu/ssu.ini as attached in http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=772
  • Remove your existing Jolla account.
  • Create your Jolla account again.
  • Try add the following section in your /etc/ssu/ssu.ini:
    Code:

    [credentials-store]
    username={your jolla username}

  • Run this:
    Code:

    ssu ur
  • Launch the Store again. Try to install apps like Maps, screenshot etc., it will take awhile to load but it should work. ;)

Hope this works.

type as a root user
ifconfig usb0 192.168.2.14 up
then do this
ping 192.168.2.15
if pings you are ready to go for SSH
otherwise check ur phone developer mode enabled again

alternative way that gives u windows like view
is to use nautilus in linux
simple
just click computer icon in your linux desktop
then the nautilus window opens
click files in the nautilus menu
then click connect to server
then enter these respectively
chose SSH
IP: 192.168.2.15
user: root
password: nemo

now you have folder view of ur sailfishOS

goodluck

No need. The Store will generate a hashed password for you, based on your recreated Jolla account password.

You can check if it exists after running the store. :P
