Well, it seems that images by Souren Araya has the predictive input, so I want to say thanks for it.

Just got into r5.1.

maybe it's because the xt9 package contains proprietary stuffs from Nuance, and hence vgrade is not politically viable to redistribute them? :P

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

I successfuly installed Sailfish to my N9.
My question is: can I install somehow .rpm files when the device is booted to Sailfish? If yes, how? I sent a .rpm file from my Nokia 808 to the N9, but if I click on the received file, the install doesnt start...

From the terminal, change in to the directory where you've downloaded the rpm, e,g,:

Code:

cd ~/Downloads
Then use pkcon to install the package:

Code:

pkcon install-local ./downloaded-package.rpm

Pirating commercial software from a Jolla device is not the way to go.

Some are working on an AlienDalvik port. I think it's a bigger deal than a usable keyboard.

Source? And porting a VM is the "easy" part, there's more needed than just that.

Alien Dalvik on N9?
http://s.pikabu.ru/images/big_size_c...8696793081.jpg
unless you have source code.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Perhaps he meant Dalvik, there's the IcedTea/IcedRobot projects, but they stalled ages ago IIRC.
Last I checked not much was happening, & there was still "MUCH" to be done...

The image I have did not come with it, but I was able to do
Code:

zypper in jolla-xt9 jolla-xt9-cp
just fine, and now I have text prediction on my N9!

Add to the file ssu.ini

myadaptation0=https://store-repository.jolla.com/releases/1.0.2.5/jolla-hw/adaptation-android-common/armv7hl/
myadaptation1=https://store-repository.jolla.com/releases/1.0.2.5/jolla-hw/adaptation-qualcomm-sbj/armv7hl/

and install aliendalvik, kmod-mysatroker-sbj
from terminal "zypper in aliendalvik" :)

next step is
how compile mysatroker.ko in kernel

insmod: ERROR: could not load module /lib/modules/2.6.32.20130129.1-n950/kernel/mysatroker.ko: No such file or directory

but

mysatroker.ko: from 3.4.0.20131212.3 has Invalid module format
Module mysatroker not loaded. Check and install kmod-mysatroker !!!!

It won't work, believe me, you just cannot use random modules off a different kernel even if you turned off the modversions checking.
It is futile, it just will not work.

Yeah, the dalvik only portable if the whole kernel ported.
BTW, we have the runtime, am I right?

What about the apkd-install terminal command?
It can install apk from root: apkd-install app_name.apk

Anybody tried it?

You should better focus on supporting/porting http://thp.io/2012/apkenv/ than pirating Jolla's implementation.

apkenv only support some app, If it can support Instagram, viber, cloud apps than I don't want to change os or phone. But for now it's not supported.

hi all

how do i reset my n9 , after installation of sailfish, hold only meego?

coderus 2013-12-29 08:42

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

@sudista you can reflash with reseting partition layout (you will lose everything)
Code:

flasher -F main_firmware_file.bin -F emmc_firmware_file.bin --erase-user-data=secure --no-preserve -f -R
or you can load to moslo again, telnet to it and use partition script
Code:

/usr/bin/autopartition.sh delete
it will delete extra partition contents and restore your partitions layout to default. then just reflash kernel to original or any openmode one.

+1 !
Like jailbreak on iOS and port not open soruce rom in android(like HTC sense) ,etc, etc.
If Myriad sell AD separately I'll buy it!
But they don't so we must port it, or just the runtime, to make a usable SO.

Ethically you are wrong here. It is the right of Myriad Corporation to create something and not to sell it to you. Just live with that.
If you pirate their software you are committing a felony.

You have the right to create your own implementation, of course, or port anything that is Free Software, within the limits of the license of the said software.

People should stop wasting their time in porting the crapy Android things and focus more in creating and promoting Qt5 native apps.
If you want to run android Apps, go buy an android phone!

Even in official Jolla phones the performance of Android apps is only tolerable.

I noticed that when the phone is on the table to scroll complicated. When the phone is in my hand to scroll easier. Tested on "Store".

Sorry my bad English.

People and jolla should focus in porting sailfish to Android devices. Just think how fast sailfish can spread if it's done right.

s/Android/Nokia/

You'll get proper hardware that way... no Android device is a proper phone as yet.

EDIT: s/Windows/Nokia/ ;-)

There is no such "Android devices" there are only more powerful devices that happen to running Android OS. They could be running Tizen, Mer, or what ever can be compiled to run on the hardware.

The SO that runs on it does not entirely define them.

This is becoming more and more common as devices are becoming commodities. A prove of this trend is the N9!
