I am sorry I dont understand, "phone does not fail in the installation developer mode", can you explain this do you mean that it does fail developer mode install?
If so, have you tried reflashing it?

You need to first reset the root password. The procedure is given here, http://wiki.maemo.org/Sailfish#Enable_Root_Access

Just a quick tip when working in the CLI.
Make use of the TAB key when entering paths like this. It will autocomplete the input for you.

For example write:
mount /d and press [TAB]
it will give you something like: mount /dev/

Continue with:
mount /dev/mm and press [TAB]
will give you something like: mount /dev/mmcblk0 (not the full path as there is more than one possible alternative).

Fill in the rest.
mount /dev/mmcblk0p4 /sailfish and press [ENTER]

//j

@Sunnyteki you wrote right command in forum, but seems you wrote wrong in terminal. or you have no /dev/mmcblk0p4 partition. check [ls /dev/mmcblk*]

Code:

now you need an app that shows the time when lpm is on, and set the screen to keep alive when locked, and disable lpm when double-tapped :P

I hope someone will switch to basic hardware compatibility. Seriously, if you want Android apps on the N9(50), we've already got Nitdroid.

Have you flashed moslo and let it repartition the handset?
Also, make sure you are root

It's M M C B L K 0 P 4, all lower case,no spaces, if that is the problem.

If you're doing this from within Harmattan:

Code:

devel-su
apt-get install nano

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Yesterday I completed my install. As a "proof of concept" installing Sailfish to N9 is good entertainment. However, in its current state Harmattan is still way more usable on N9 hardware. Sailfish lacks native apps, swipe gestures are not correct on N9, screen looks bad, scroll is not smooth, accelometer not working + all the usal Sailfish "current issues".

Therefore, when someone installs Sailfish on N9 then this person could have wrong impression that Sailfish is very bad. But it is not so bad at all on Jolla hardware even in its current Beta status (+ you will have Android apps).

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Hi

First of all, thanks for your efforts in this community :-)

I've installed Sailfish OS on my n9 following the wiki instructions multiple times, but I always get stuck in a loop. After it boots up on my n9, I select language twice, get Please Wait, then get back to the welcome screen where I have to select language again.

Some more info that might help:
n9 16GB with 059H2C5 freshly flashed
ubiboot for sailfish
vgrade-sailfish_r5.1

Has anyone seen this issue before? Thanks for your help!

coderus 2014-01-04 16:32

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

@ZLooM it should be copied from your file
@maxaz911 /etc/ssu/ssu.ini. save your credentials, paste my data and replace your credentials back.
@clown9 you need to tap button in header "Select language" :D

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

@coderus touche, I should have given a bit more information :-)

Here's what I'm currently experiencing:
1- boot, select sailfish icon (ubiboot customized for sailfish)
2- I get the welcome screen in many languages after a few seconds
3- I select language the first time
4- I click through the 2nd screen
5- I select/confirm language the 2nd time
6- I get Please Wait
7- I get the welcome screen again (same as #1)
