Yes, of course, but then I suggest you delete your Harmattan for good if you want to do that :)

See, the reason for having multiple partititons is that different OS'es like to live on their own partitions. Basically Harmattan would also only need one (the root partition) but the home directory is on it's own partition to make it simpler to flash the OS without deleting user data, like in OTA update.

The reason MyDocs is on a separate partition is a bit different, that is done so you can export it to external computers as mass memory. That is also the reason it is formatted by default in such an arcane and braindead FS like FAT :(

How come nitdroid can rest on the /home partition?

Is the lack of video playback an issue with graphics or with video codecs?

Nitdroid is not a seaprate OS, really. It is a chroot environment running on a modified Harmattan environment.

Besides, Android is a bit different case than other Linux distributions. Altough it is running a Linux kernel the userland is set up in a very different fashion from your standard unix based OS'es.

@taixzo video. you can recompile gstreamer yourself and use it inside callery components.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

So is Sailfish stable enough to use as a daily device? I have three main concerns:
1. Battery life - Is it optimized enough to survive a full day with moderate usage? Nitdroid drains the battery, but MeeGo never dies in one day

2. Is the audio quality good for calling? I use the microphone for calling just as much as I use sms, so I need it.

3. Is the headphone jack working correctly? Does sound route and work? Music player functionality? (I know how to add shortcut to the harmattan music folder, just want to know if it reads all files (flac, mp3, etc))

Also:

What version do I use? Do I use the 1.0.3.7 provided on the second link on the first page? or do I use 1.0.2.5 for right now? If I use 1.0.3.7 do I need the updated kernel, or is that only for 1.0.3.8?

Also,
Forgive the bombardment of questions :P I'm not the greatest at following a thread (especially one that's nearly 175 pages)

Well at least sound for calling is better than Nitdroid!:D:p
But serious look here #1326 ff. and #1366 too: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...71#post1405271
And then you got the answer at #1707 don't you?: "We still need the camera to be fixed, as well as GPS and some bugs with the sound."
About version to use see #1692 ff. and use 1.02.5 right now!

NO.

Lot of remaining bugs, the graphics chip is buggy and this won't be fixed (closed source). No camera, no GPS.

Outdated Sailfish base because of the linux kernel, so more and more unworking apps with time.

And, in my opinion, Harmattan is way better than Sailfish right now, especially because Harmattan is closely integrated with the hardware (notifications for example).

Well what importance does the graphics chip carry? What apps does it break at the moment? Video playback does not work I know, but what else?

Seems I get some time over now because I lost my job... The company I worked for got bankruptcy :/ Always very hard for small companys to be alive damn. Especially when customers don't pay in time... Anyway I plan to be more active in FOSS since that is companys I prefer work for. So time be more active when I have not much todo atm.
[/Offtopic]

Anyway... to the topic: BeagleBoard black runs similar CPU/GPU as N9. I may have asked this before and don't remember if I got answered or forgot..

Anyone knows if the is any kickstart file avaible for BBB? as a start...

I lost my N9 now, so only I have is unused BBB and a 7" touchscreen. would be nice try setup sailfish on it But first of get wayland up..

First, sorry for you losing the job.

Then back on-topic, working on BBB is probably 'bleeding-edge' ;) so I'd suggest to go to #nemomobile IRC channel and ask the experts.
Yes, nemo != n9 but at least it will give you some point where to start.

How is progress on the new kernel for the 1.0.3.8 release of SFOS? (And no, I don't mean to press you. I'm sure the community would also like to know where this stands.)

Is there anyone who has an N9 as a secondary device? Mine is my primary so I can't put any experimental kernels or anything of the sort on it. Are others willing to do it with their N9s?

Maybe all you'd need to do is incorporate the parts that you patched into pandora? If it's a few bugfixes, from what I understand, pandora is essentially open-mode for lipstick? So theoretically it could be possible. I believe Coderus made the patch (if it was someone else, tell me and i'll give credit), so ask him in a PM or through this topic if he knows if it's possible

Well the version hasn't been updated since 1.0.2.5, which released about that time. The one issue that has been fixed is the framebuffer issue, where the rotation didn't work correctly.

Yes, I guess because people who tried Sailfish on their N9 removed it. It did it. Not really usable on a daily basis, and things will get worse with time if the new kernel is not available to follow Sailfis updates.

It's all about the new kernel now.

after left off N9 for few months, today turn it on it still shine like a star. Compare to android, meego OS still the best of the best. The only problem is the apps support. Or else N9 meego should took over the world.

I've been using Sailfish on my N9 as my primary OS for the last 3 months. Yes, there are still some usability issues; but it seemed that the developers on this thread were working on those, and I've been eagerly awaiting the update that fixes them! Please don't say this is dead, I can't use the Jolla phone because I'm in the US.

Why do you want to remove the message?

It has been put there on purpose, and sometime later when the OS is more stable it will be removed.

Clearly it was put there for a reason - if you want to change the message or remove it, you're going to have to find it :)

It also hinges on the kernel, the newer SFOS versions have updated systemd which requires newer kernel or it won't boot. There's work going on to make a kernel adaptation for 3.5.3 but it is progressing slowly, mainly because people have not got much time to work on it...
I should check some boot problems with serial console but I have mislaid my serial dongle and I'd need to build a new one, when I have time.

I download a kernel from here http://civilnet.cn/n9/
I think it should be official kernel for N9. And, i tried to recompiled it to see whether it can working on my N9. But, I didn't found any configuration related with N9 when I use "make menuconfig" command. I checked the kernel file, found the file "N9\FileSystem\kernel_2.6.32-20115101+0m7.tar\kernel-2.6.32\arch\arm\mach-omap2\board-rm696-peripherals.c" should be modified for N9. But I didn't find any .config file for this Kernel.

Re: Porting Sailfish to N9 (or other)

Why do you want to compile this kernel? Its outdated. the latest kernel for the N9 is 2.6.32.61. You can get it here:http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=86543
