modRana

Sygic was a non-free application that lost support a few years ago.

You have to download the them in the applications settings.
Also it uses MoNav routing daemon to do offline routing.

Re: map software

thank you so much for the info but what i really mean by offline maping is the ability to download a country map from just one single file + i have looked in the .Imap directory and i was suprised to see that it does actually download images and i m pretty shure tha'ts a bad idea to download data cause we will get run out of space in just a few

Thank

I asked for this but currently it only supports downloading tiles around a location. Still works ok and the tiles can be stored in sqlite to reduce space.

so in other word it's hopeless so without internet conexion you just have to ask people

Re: map software

i think navit could be the one

Re: map software

No it not "hopeless"!
You have to download maps or tiles with any solution so it makes no difference. First download the tiles at home for a selected area once then you can use everything offline in that area.

but it's so limited it's not like the navit where you can download a map for a entire country

Re: map software

You can't (currently) download a country but you can batch-download a specific area. ModRana can do it on its own but it is generally better to use third-party solutions for that since in the former case the CPU usage gets quite high for some reason and the device can get a) unresponsive to the point it appears locked up and fool the user to rebooting it; and b) hot.
