Re: For Sale Nokia N950

I was just wondering. While it is debatable which is the greatest designed phone ever created (combining form and function, my vote would be on the n900) but, as fas as aesthetics goes, I've never seen a more beautiful phone than the N950. Do folks feel this way here. And who sculpted this design anyways. Is this designer famous (at least in phone design circles). This person should be given some kind of award for designing the N950! I hope he/she has the opportunity to design a follow up!

I second that! It's still the most beautiful device I have ever owned.

Never had it but why Nokia will reenter in the market, why not release the Lauta. Its finished in design and OS (Meego) i think. They have only to produce. Maybe make fusion with sailfish OS :D
I know. its only a dream

You should also already know that business plan of the Nokia mobile device-division is not, and has not been in the past decade or so, to make good business decisions :p

How could you tell it is a Pre-Beta if it is of black color, not silver?

Please post the number written on small "S4.0 HW1124 XXXX" sticker under the battery, or make a photo of it:

The software with which I got the phone is Pre-Beta 1 (V 1.2011.15-7_PR_RM680 Nxx). I haven't reflashed it.
I have never taken it apart. I don't have any Torx 4 screwdriver here to open it and check the sticker. If I manage to find one, I'll let you know.

Do you mean the IMEI?

Well any numbers can be relevant for future's archaeologists

Re: For Sale Nokia N950

I do not recommend sharing your IMEI as Nokia will reveal who you are and theoretically may sue you for selling the prototype.
You should better share the photo of sticker under the battery with last number blurred or censored (see my example above) - that will make it harder to uncover your identity.

I don't get why anybody would request a person to publicly display their serial numbers and whatnot publicly and you've not done the same yourself for the most part.

If you're genuinely curious, purchase it. Then you'd know.

I think its because he wants to report its sale to Nokia so they can recall it!

Yeah. It just stinks to me alongside that constant, unwanted "only for devs" rhetoric.

Well, I was just kidding. I think that anyone that buys one will likely be a dev or someone that is a collector and will take good care of it. I do cringe when I read about someone having to replace the screen because they dropped it. This device should be treated like a priceless relic of halcyon days. Of what things could have been...

Yes yes but there is nothing to do with being a dev. We all treat it like a relic but not all of us being a dev. Especially Harmattan has been discontinued for such a long time.

Is there actually any point in getting/keeping an N950 for development?
This is a serious question.

I wasn't going to post the IMEI publicly (and I'm not the original owner anyway).

I think only if it's your hobby. But then you might as well just use an N9 for development.
One of the reasons why I wanted to get an N950 is personal interest, but I never found enough time to really get into development for this platform (the other reason is that it's a relic, as others mentioned above).

Btw. 2 days left from my N950 auction, so if anyone is interested, please bid here:

Re: For Sale Nokia N950

Last year I lost one more auction on n950, was playing with something about ~$400 and the competitor won with something about ~$410 lol (so this time I put €1000 to be sure, but still lost :D).
Guess what happened to that device? After a month it appeared on ebay again with the price about $1500 and shipping from India :D

So I hope the current competitor bought the phone to use it or at least to store it as a relic, not for stupid reselling.

Found a strange seller on ebay:

The funny thing is it comes with warranty :D

First time I ever heard any "warranty" for N950... How can it be managed?:D

I am also surprised by an amount of available devices.
A little bit less about the price...

Description of item makes interesting reading "Listing photo is for displaying purposes only and does not represent the actual item you will receive and it may vary. Contact us if you have any questions about the condition of the item listed. Customer can choose from available colours Prior to the payment (must email us first to see if we have the required colour otherwise a random one will be sent). May have marks. May be international version (You may need to reinstall OS to your region). Charger and battery may be removed by post/custom and may not be included at the time of arrival"

Assume random one will be black :D

Think that I will also pass on 300GBP plus import duty used N9 64GB from same seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nokia-N9-6...AAAOSwEOxXQZmj

Only a month ago, they had it at 1500AUD (891GBP).
I got a message from them saying 8GB (as standard for model) & the best price they could do was 50AUD off (bank deposit), because it was a collectors phone.
How did they get their hands on 20 of them?

They are selling loads of Nokia models at crazy prices.
