When it goes to "screen off mode" it's exactly as responsive as ever, case in point:

I just pinged the device which is on a table in the next room, screen off and no charger connected. It has been laying there for a half a day, untouched.

It mostly hits on uid changes (ssh session is kept alive, but 'sudo powertop', 'pkcon install xxx' and similar will appear to hang, sometimes randomly will stop during ./configure or make), starting new connection for me results in 'unreachable/no route to host' whether from n900 or from laptop if there was no connection kept alive (double tap and next attempt works most of the time)

Hi guys, I searched the forum but couldn't find anything so here we go:

If I play a video from gallery app and then minimize the app by swiping from right edge, the video stops playing. Shouldn't it keep playing in the home view?? I mean this is one of the trademark features of Sailfish OS right? Luckily, I tried playing a youtube video in the browser and it kept playing when minimized, so multitasking is not broken altogether :)
But what about gallery app? I have already reset the device to factory settings once and it didn't help.

Have I misunderstood anything?

Hello

Just couple of annoyances that has occurred to me so far. Would like to hear if others have had same kind of experiences. I have had the phone since the launch day

1. The phone doesn't instantly act on double tap when locked. Is sluggish for a second when opening from black screen. Noticeable for example after long standby times. Noticed at least wout.martens posting something similar. http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=236

2. Some android apps have problems connecting when connection changing from wlan to GSM of vice versa. Especially often happens with finnish banking application PiVo. Any users of that here? Curious thing about this is, that on the same time as PiVo says there is no connection, Firefox is working normally.

3. a) The phone application has some bug/clitches. Sometimes old unanswered call keep coming up on notifications again when an new unanswered call happens. One has to actually click the unanswered call to stop this from happening.
b) This might be a feature also. After you end a call, no matter how long screen shut delay you have set, the screen goes off in couple of seconds after ending the call. Also think that the screen of delay has problems in other situations as well, but haven't yet payed enough attention to elaborate more.
c) My phone application has had something fun happen already twice. Only solution I have found has so far been to restart the phone. Closing down the phone app by swiping does not help. What happens is the following: The application shows the normal cover in the launcher, but once the application is opened, nothing is showing, you can, however use the active cover to select the keypad, and that works, although no numbers that you select are shown. But they are selected as you can still make the call. See pictures.

4. I think it is really annoying that with facebook integration you can't have choice where you could sync/share your photos, calendar and instant messaging without bringing all you facebook friends as contacts to the phone. N9 had the choice of only bringing those people that were already in you contacts. I know this is not a bug, but at least it is a glitch :p

5. Even when showing full strenght on WLAN connection, the phone might lose the connection anytime and keep changing between WLAN and GSM data.

6. Sometimes the browser decides not to open links anymore. Has to close the tab to get them working again. But then again, the browser is halfway finished anyways...

7. When using bluetooth headphones or car system, there is no option to direct the voice back to the phones earpiece. Only options are the bluetooth device and speaker.

Any similar experiences with others?

The ambiance of the white other half fails to install. It fails with "Problem with store, This Other Half is not working" every time I connect it, even on a fresh install. I don't care about the white ambiance so much, but the consequence is I cannot switch any ambiances from the home screen/lock screen. Swipe to the right/left does nothing.

I thought I did, but I never confirmed it by swiping to the right after marking as favorite. :rolleyes:

Thank you, now at least the ambiance switcher is working. I can live without the white ambiance, but I'm still curious what is the problem.

So I solved my Amazon store being stuck with the help of an Android file manager (I haven't yet enabled developer mode), but it seems the problem can be reproduced: Every time I install something from Amazon store and the apk gets saved in the cache folder, the store gets stuck with no way back except to uninstall, delete the file from the cache and re-install. Any permanent solutions?

Email -- when new mail arrive and I select message from notifications view message will open but not load, page will be empty. I have to slide back to inbox where message has read status and select it again.

Also, a lot of inline images (smileys, signatures etc.) wont load at all; same messages are OK on N9.

Terminal: I typed as standard user nemo "reboot". It says "you have to be root", but the phone reboots. I did not expect that after this conversation.

Today the camera stopped working and could not be started by icon. After doing a

The amazon-store stopped working, as i tried to install two apps at the same time. I could resolve this by deinstalling the last android-app. The amazon store works, when only one app is installed at a time and the store is closed after the popup appears that the app is installed. Otherwise the last app has to be deinstalled in order to fix the store.

My amazon store always gets stuck after installing one app. After deleting the cached version of that app in android file manager it works again.

I am starting the amazon-app store from a launcher (nova launcher) and after installing an app, i close the store by swiping down after the popup appears. When i am restarting the launcher and then the store, everything is working again.

Has anyone tried USB OTG?
I had no luck with that.
It seems that there are HID, usbserial and other USB device drivers built in and USB OTG is enabled in the kernel... but there are no ID pin intterupts from PMIC and therefore USB does not switch to the host mode. :(

I noticed the SD support/handling is less then perfect. Jolla won't do anything when SD card is inserted. Also mounting must be done manually. Is this normal (are other users having the same experience)?

This is not a showstopper, but an inconvenience for sure, but I also noticed the Media Player is not picking up media.

What I did:
mounted sd card manually to

/run/user/100000/media/sdcard

There is a Music directory on the sdcard containig, well... music.

I symlinked /home/nemo/Music to /run/user/100000/media/sdcard/Music

The media player still says I have no media...

I have 64 Gb sdcard (FAT) which Jolla mounted automatically and I made a soft symlink from sdcard to /home/nemo/Music. Media player finds music files with no problems. Did you make the symlink in correct order... ln -s /run/user/100000/media/sdcard/folderwhereyourmusicis /home/nemo/Music/whatevernameyouwanttogive

My 16GB card is formatted to btrfs, upon inserting there's no notification. fdisk shows the new device, but that's all. I have to mount manually.

The symlink is correct as far as I can tell

Maybe I should try with FAT32, but that would be a letdown. Also, is there any way to mount the phone's mmc over USB as mass storage device? My linux PC doesn't even notice the phone was plugged in.

I never did that symlink, but the music from my SD card is available in the media player. It's a normal 16 GB FAT 32 SD card.

Tried formatting the card to FAT32 and all worked flawlessly. And with a patch from
https://github.com/misja/sd-utils/bl...ts/mount-sd.sh
it also works for other formats, like ext4. In the end I might as well go with FAT32, because ext4 sdcard would be owned by user nemo with UID/GID 100000 and not surprisingly there's no such user on my linux machine. so in practice it's just another inconvenience (even though I know there's bound to be a sophisticated and elegant solution to this, sometimes a path of least resistance is the one to take).

Bug/glitch: in any text editing program or field, when you select a piece of text by long pressing it, and then deleting it by pressing the delete key... copies the just deleted text in the clipboard, overwriting the previously copied text in the clipboard. This makes it impossible to quickly delete a string of text without it messing up the clipboard :( Experienced this in the webbrowser trying copy a short string from the address field and then selecting the whole address to clean it and to insert my previously copied string of text. But it's just not limited in there, this bug appears in every native text editing field.

Suggestion: make it so that the copying of text only happens when the to-be-copied text is selected and the text from the left side of the clipboard icon (which shows the selected text) or the clipboard icon itself is pressed.

Yes I still have this problem, even after the latest update. Isn't there like a "white ambience" package we can just install and get this over with? :)
I did various "pkcon search name" queries but couldn't find anything!

The first page doesn't seem to be up-to-date, so my problem may already be reported.

The bug is: there is no way to scroll the page if you have more than 9 calendars under the manage calendars section in the default calendar app.

Application: Calendar.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Calendar app and go to "Manage calendars".
2. Have more than 9 calendars there (Mine are synced with Google).
3. Try to scroll the page.

Expected: The page to scroll down to show the rest of the calendars.

Actual outcome: There is no way to scroll the page.

Here it stopped too, I noticed this evening. I'm running stock kernel, stock android support (no google services installed). IIRC it was mentioned before that Android was muted somehow, but I don't know how to unmute it. "there's an app for that" for sure, but which one?

the dalvik stuff seems to have it's own audio mixing environment. Someone mentioned before to install some android mixing app to control the volume settings. If some android app mutes the volume you need to unmute this mixer unless another app unmutes...

Same here, and I'm also having dropouts when connecting to USB-IP...
Current 'workaround' for me is to disable wlan security and use mac filtering for my access point. (using a TL-WR1043ND with DD-WRT).
I also noticed less dropouts when having my Jolla right next to my router.... :confused:

Is there any way to increase the max volume in ringtones, system, apps etc? Now the volume is very low even in the highest level. Also the ringtone is almost impossible to hear when the phone is in the pocket.
Any help, please?

Seems like we have to wait fingers crossed whether the bug will be fixed soon or not.

Is anyone else getting duplicate contacts? Mine just seem to multiply by the day. I keep deleting them but after few days I have 2 3 even 4 of the same contact.

Anyone been bugged by the contacts integration to the android apps? I know focus is of course to get apps like Viber as native apps. But as of now we have got whatsapp at least :).

When running viber in the sandbox the account connection is not working and viber does not find any of my contacts.

Anyone else having an increased battery drain after using the wifi hotspot?

Steps to reproduce:
1) mobile data ON and wifi OFF (battery drain <= 1% per hour)
2) enable wifi, enable hotspot (connman wifi)
3) disable hotspot, disable wifi
4) observe increased battery drain (around 6% per hour)
