So it seems that Jolla has outsourced at least the international packing and shipping to DHL. And that is why the FedEx logs show the origin of the shipments being Vantaa. There is large DHL warehouse at Vantaa next to Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport. I have fetched some of my DHL Express packages directly from there.

Edit: And because part of the work have been outsourced they cannot publicly humiliate their partner(s). That is why Jolla doesn't give out more information about the problems.

Yes, I think we understand our disagreement - you set your limit there, I would think they would be wise being more open and more upfront about the order process in this early adopter scenario. I don't think they would really risk anything by giving us order updates on how things are broadly speaking progressing. Again, they are a small startup, it might even benefit them greatly to do so.

Bad press depends on how one defines the word. They have received actual bad press in Finland about the delays and silence (at least one major print media has written about it), but mostly I referred to online/blogosphere reaction. As I said, I'm not trying to make this sound bigger than it is - this is not the defining thing for Jolla's future, but in the context of a Jolla order tracking thread, I find this quite topical and a good suggestion to Jolla on how to improve community relations. I think it would be easy for them to improve those relations.

If I'd called you childish for demanding more information from Jolla, then you could have the ad hominem...
You shouldn't give in so easily :)

It is of course a good question, is it wise to explicitly refer to fallacies when responding to them - or is that just too inflammatory. It could be unwise. Sometimes it just gets tiresome to explain the mistake in the message, mentioning a fallacy is shorthand. I for one am not doing to sound somehow important.

Case in point: The most common type of Internet coversation fallacy is probably the strawman argument - in the case of your original message I responded to, I believe you presented a far more unrealistic picture of what people here are expecting of Jolla (and then responded to that false image), than they/we actually are expecting of them, thus making their/our argument sound quite a bit more unreasonable than it in reality was. The Apple sarcasm wasn't really my main issue with it, it was a side-track. I didn't explicitly refer to the fallacy by name, but it is why I responded to it.

There is a risk because they have outsourced part of the work. They cannot publicly humiliate their partner(s).

I doubt anyone has asked them to publicly humiliate their partners. I for one haven't.

There is a broad range of options between saying nothing in particular (as they do now) or telling everything.

For example, what risk would there be in expressing the percentage of shipments on Twitter?

Monday: 55% of all pre-orders are now out!
Tuesday: Hit 70% today, making up for lost time! Yay!
Wednesday: 90%, the homerun is opening!
Thursday: All Jolla pre-orders have been mailed! Happy Holidays to all the sailors!

Jolla, feel free to use this idea if you wish.

Really? I've already read about the delivery problems in the media (English & German)... If you need sources I can look through my RSS feeds - but I'm sure you can find them. The main media (non-tech ones) won't make a headline out of those delivery issues because they generally don't care (yet) about Jolla at all. Often they actually don't care about any device except those lame Apple and Droid ones.

In my opinion a media article about the delivery issues with background infos by Jolla (whatever the problems are, limitations of start-up company etc...) sound much better than just "bad delivery by Jolla".

But to come back on my earlier post - I'm not complaining about the delivery but I agree with users here that Jolla has to work on their communication in the near future and that we have to forgive what's happening now.

Nope. I'm presuming it's from Jolla as I've not got anything else coming from FedEx. Jolla store still says picking.

You do realize that TMO is an open community forum where people are expressing their opinions not a moderated philosophical debate where once you don't have your own arguments you try to punch through the arguments of your opposition, right? What's next, picking out syntactic and grammatical errors in every post that doesn't share your opinion?

Nobody here is trying to belittle your opinions, stop treating people as your opposition an chill the ef out.

Obviously. I was and am just taking part.

I repeat my suggestion for Jolla, in case the point gets lost in the bickering and misrepresentations:

For example, what risk would there be in expressing the percentage of shipments on Twitter?

Tuesday: Hit 70% today, making up for lost time! Yay!

Reportedly it has arrived by Fedex - Brussels Belgium - no tracking number received by email prior to delivery - current status Jolla shop "in picking" -order# between 700 and 800
Buyers' remorse level pre-test at 85% ;)

EDIT: Oh yes, BTW as far as I am concerned Jolla has kept their promise: by a large margin.
Jingle Stress, Jingle Streeess, Jolla sailing all the way :p

I don't have any hope to get mine before x-mas, £0 option, still paid status in webshop. And if it has been shipped at all, the Norwegian customs is the slowest working People i know of. So they won't release the package before january anyway.

Re: Jolla tracking numbers

Probably already said, but good news from the spreadsheet is that several Jollas have been delivered today with status still on "In picking" and no email/tracking number sent.

Many of the "In picking" orders may actually be ouf for delivery right now, which may explain why the statuses did not change since Wednesday: they were just not updated, nonetheless Jolla and FedEx did progress on the shipments since then.

Hope mine was out for delivery too today, unfortunately I did not request delivery at work, so I'll miss it anyway. :(

[Edit] Yes, already reported.

TL; DR
Good news.

My details are on the google doc, it's 200000679, the order _id on the url is 2233.

Is wout.martens the highest number (#985) to get theirs? This represents a jump of ~ 200 devices/day from the first day's shipping, although the numbers of Finnish orders may not be uniformly spread through the priority list.

Yes, it seems In Picking can be construed as the good news. It seems to always come before actual shipping. Those still stuck at Paid are not yet being processed, probably.

If FedEx clears it for you, you should get it faster than a regular mail package. Courier companies usually have a "fast track" with the customs.

Well, you may of course have different experience with FedEx in Norway, so I'm just guessing based on Finland.

Just FYI:
Order number 200001299 to Lisbon, Portugal still in picking in jolla shop. But I went to fedex website, search by order number, just put mine and has already started the shipment from Vantaa on saturday, Is expected to arrive tomorrow. So for those with order in picking, you can try to search with your order number in fedex search, mine worked and I've got a tracking number now (and emails updates from fedex activated).

Thanks epmt. Actually mine was already "In picking" since Dec. 12 (one day after the first big wave on "In picking" updates). From the delivered "In picking" I see from the spreadsheet, I have really high hopes to find a FedEx notification in my mailbox tonight. If I don't, then I may die of sadness, in terrible pain.

Mine just arrived at my office (with the company name but not my name!), #803, UK (spreadsheet updated)
Still "in picking" though.
I'm midway through the setup wizard - it's a really slick out-of-box experience so far!
Also the "poppy red" OH is mega-bright - I like it!

What the hell... How did you track on FedEx with order number? Mine returns nothing.

If FedEx tracking tool can indeed be used with Jolla order number, then that's the most useful information in a while in this thread.
