Courier companies usually allow tracking by order reference in addition to the tracking number - thus a order number or similar can often work. It may require using some alternate tracking page or option.

Think of it: Jolla might have mentioned that to us on Twitter? No? ;)

entering my order # on fedex.com also shows nothing... I already had my hopes up ;)

maybe someone who just got the phone could look his shipment up via this method to confirm it for us?

Yay! That works. And, as anticipated slightly earlier, it turns out that they attempted delivery this morning when of course no-one was home, and took it away again.

So, good, positive news that it is in country, but still a bit annoyed about the way this has been handled.

I also get nothing with my order number as tracking # for fedex tracking

EDIT:
Oh wait, You have to search be reference number on the fedex site
So it seems mine is on the delivery truck :) :)

Chose track by reference, select you country and enter jolla order number
Mine returned the package

Thank you for the tip. Very useful for foreign orders to now know for sure In Picking is the tip to go looking at FedEx reference search.

Unfortunately for us Finns they use Itella/Posti, not FedEx, I believe.

I just checked with two order numbers on the fedex site and names and from-to locations match. They are delivered or on the delivery van.

Another thing, on the box, and on the sticker with the imei # on the phone it says 'mfg date: 12,2013'. Pretty quick turnaround considering it also says 'Made in China'

Such details may be asking too much of them. I'm sure it has been chaotic for them.

I think a broader communications improvement/added openness would have helped just as well and been more realistic. For example, tipping the order reference by Jolla on Twitter, updating rough order processing progress on Twitter etc.

I surely can forgive them for missing a tracking number email. I just wish they had been more active in other communication ways. I am sorry they have not.

Now, onto waiting for the rest of the people still in Paid!

Yes, but like cybette said, they are prioritizing to get the devices out over updating statuses.

Personally I'd rather HAVE the phone before Christmas rather than KNOWING it will/not be here before Christmas.

In reality, Jolla could have done both in broad terms. Broader status updates wouldn't have taken them any time from actual shipping.

According to reference number, my Jolla was picked on Friday 13th and departed France 1.5 days ago. Called FedEx here and they told me that the package hasn't yet arrived, because the import was cancelled. Does someone know what exactly this cancelled status means?

A few people have had erraneous "order cancelled" messages that sorted themselves out in time. I don't recall anyone having "import cancelled"? Anyway, it is possible it will sort itself out automatically.

I recommend reading back a few pages, there was talk of these cancellations then.

Import cancelled was a loose translation by me as I assume the issue is the same as the rest of the cancelled packages. The girl on the phone literally said "отказан внос", which may be better translated as "import denied". However she also said that the package will still arrive, only later.

Like I said in that post, most "bad press" has been forum/blogosphere opinion, not necessarily print media. I think there may have been other print stories too, but I don't recall where.

I think overall the biggest issue with Jolla has been failure to communicate. People are very understanding and forgiving of issues when you are open with them, but Jolla wasn't. This happened already before the DNA sales started, when everything was left very vague (I guess to keep their options open) and then they kept this up far too long for their own good in my opinion.

Opening up earlier with upbeat (no need to pull anyone under the keel), but timely, actually informative progress reports would have been a wise thing to do in my opinion.

That's fedex fo you. Or DP. Or just about any courier, it has happened to me a lots of times, they come on knocking to your door and if you happen to be out thy just leave... sometimes even without leaving a note!

Oh, I know how it works. Very familiar with DHL and FedEx deliveries. My point is that if I'd known the item was actually going to be delivered (i.e. being emailed a tracking number or at least being given the info that I could track by my Jolla order number) I would have made sure someone was at home to receive it.

The FedEx customer service rep I contacted to arrange redelivery tomorrow managed to give the impression that it was somehow my fault that I hadn't been at home to take delivery ...

I don't really know but it might be wrongly marked indication that for example customs vetoed the package for inspection.

I was going to spend the day working from home (had I received a tracking number) but given the advice in this thread, I just tried tracking on FedEx by reference and guess what :D

I'm waiting since May for 2 Jolla so...2 weeks more or 1 month more, doesn't matter.

My order number is 29XX and no info received.

I thought Finns were faster :D

According to FedEx tracking my Jolla has arrived @ 11:06 at home in Germany :)

Order number: #200000720

Edit: Order status in Jolla shop changed from 'In picking' to 'Shipped'. Did not receive a tracking ID.
