One thing that doesn't work with notifications
When you comment something and : Someone likes your comment Someone else comments after you In these 2 cases we don't receive any notifications from friends Thanks :) |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
After some work done I'm pleased to release Friends 0.7.0, aka Friends 1.0 beta. It fixes the biggest bug you were all complaining about: browsing in comments.
There are also some other small bugs. Please try it again. Some bugs might not be fixed yet, please try again. 0.7.0 will be released on OBS and openrepos quite soon. You can use warehouse to download it, or directly download it from my OBS repo :) |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Thanks for the update,
but there's one issue All the comments is from 529 months before.. |

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Hey, a bug that caught my eye, if a friend has changed profile pic, it's seen the right way on profile, but not on news feed on posts etc.
When I compare the news feeds with andro fb and this, Friends shows less updates from contacts, what could be causing this? Also, could some kind of a indicator be implemented when scrolling down and app fetches more news? I am pretty sure this will not be liked, haha, but could there a chance to use a bg-pic instead of the natural theme bg? and last but not least, personally, the notifications to the system event feed would be most significant feature, is this on sight? Thank you for great the app!! |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Hi,
good work! Concerning my profile picture on the V0.7.0, I agree with the previous post, my profile picture is still the previous one, it is not updated according to the web version. Concerning the notifications, how are they refreshed? Is the refresh in pulley menu of the Home page for the whole app? Maybe the refresh function could be in the pulley menu of the main page. Any possibility to indicate after "Notification" the new ones for example: (4) Thanks again for the good work! |

First thanks for this great app.
I think I found small bug about dates on comments. For some reason Friends will show for recent posts that those have been made loooong time ago. On example picture comment where 15 minutes old, but Friends will show 520 months ago :-) |

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Hi guys, I'm a bit busy with my studies and all so I didn't fixed many bugs. I might do a release quite soon. Stay tuned.

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Time for a 1.0.0. I'm tired of having to bug hunt a lot of stuff that are being actually FB related, and not being able to work about new features.
Please continue reporting bugs. Right now, I'm going to maintain both a development version and a release version. Development version will bring (I hope) tons of new features, so update if you want and test the bleedy edge version :) 1.0.0 release fixes some bugs here and there and will be available everywhere. |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
One problem I'm having is that on some profiles its not showing anything, for example I go to my GF's profile, it sais "No posts" (or whatever that is in english), also when I go to her Pictures or Albums, it sais "no pictures" and "no albums", Didn't read all the posts so I don't know if that is known issue or not. Other than that, works great so far :)

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Hi, You have created a really great app, notifications not working and the feed is not the same as in the web or official facebook. Posted pictures are also rather small and one has to click on them and view in a separate view. I am also using another android client fastbook and doesnt seem to have problems with notifications, newsfeed or picture size. Facebook official app and fastbook app dont appear in the apps tab. They do however appear in security->Where You're Logged In as mobile browser android on android 4. Could it be that there is a different API for browsers? And if there is is it possible for you to use it so as to overcome these rights/permission issues?

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Is it possible to uninstall the integration? I am afraid it might have rendered my Messages app unusable.
Uninstalling via Warehouse complains that it tries to remove system files. Here is the error message: Code:
Fatal error: Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: rm: cannot remove `/usr/lib/qt5/qml/Sailfish/Contacts/ContactCard.qml': No such file or directoryOk, I fixed my problems by reinstalling sailfish-components-contacts-qt5, but you should really be more careful with the preun.sh script... It first deletes a system file and then tries to restore it. In case the second step fails, you end up with broken system. |

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
Hi
I am following your application for some time now. THX a lot for your initiative. I also had it on the n9. There is one strange thing that might have been a subject here either: Some of my facebook friends are not listed in the friends app, neither on Sailfish nor on Meego. Out of 92 friends I am missing 3 of them. Unfortunately one of them is very important, making the friends app unusable for me right now. Would you have an idea, why this problem can arise? Is it a 'settings problem' on their side? (Well I cannot ask them to change their settings, I guess) THX in advance |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
@minimec I already had some contact with a Jolla Sailor and we discussed about the integrated facebook sync in SailfishOS - which is also missing some of mine friends and this COULD be of some privacy setting though I am not sure if this also affects friends (app). :)

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
@willi6868
Indeed these friends are also missing in the Sailfish contacts app (well one of them). I did not realize that until now, as I just copied over all contacts from my N9, the time I got my Jolla phone. @junnuvi Could you be more specific on that? You removed an already synced user and disabled your facebook account in the Sailfish settings and reanabled sync? I don't really understand that. |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish

1. Remove non working user from contacts. 2. Disable FB sync from phone settings 3. Enable FB sync 4. Open contacts and FB shoud re-create contact which have been removed on step 1. Ofcourse you need to manually add information which is not available on FB profile like phone number etc. 5. Try to look integrated FB profile, should work now. |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
@Sfiet_Konstantin
Ok.. When we get landscape? Is that hard to enable? Now, as we know, many features working on landscape mode, so this is very relevant. I know your fingers is on fire now, but have to say this even so :) :D http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xvPqUCi3pI...s320/@whip.gif |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
@ junnuvi
THX. Your solution is not working here, at least for my three missing friends. @ Sfiet_Konstantin On the other hand, I (probably) know the reason now, why they are not indexed. All three of them have disabled 'public access' of their Facebook Homepage. Looks like that makes the difference. Now I do know their Facebook ID. Would there be a possibility to add them manually with that ID? Are the contacts stored in '.local/share/harbour-friends/Friends/.QtWebKit/https_m.facebook.com_0.localstorage' and is there a way to edit that file/database manually? THX in advance |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
I just realised "pages" view doesnt have a search function, rendering it basically useless :o
also a small note: the notifications word in "menu" is a bit below bottom of the screen, making an awkwardly small scroll required. maybe lower font size just a bit to have all showing without scroll? |

----------------------------------- BTW: release 1.0.3. As you can guess, it's a minor release, with some bugfixes, and small features: you can post in pages / groups ! There is also a translation refresh, don't forget to translate Friends if you want it in your language. |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
I'm merging my work on Friends integration in this thread. Read the first post for more info :)

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
About notifications... How about adding icon to firstpage header which will be highlighted if there new notifications and also number of unread notification next to icon? This way you could maybe remove notifications from "menu"
|
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
1.0.3 approved in store. I think that it will be the last version before 1.1 series.
In 1.1 series, I will rework a bit the cover, and try to get some integration done. Stay tuned. |
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
How can I search for other Facebook users, that are not in my Friends-list?
|
Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish
"Load more comments" is working very slowly or not at all & it loads one comment at a time, even if there are dozens or hundreds left. Known issue?
