same issue.

I like the new login formular much better, I hope jolla does a similar thing.

I installed the new version after deleting .config/harbour-friends folder, news feed works :) The news items are just not clickable.

hi nieldk,

I experienced the same problem like you. Delete the config file didn't solved my problem. In my case ist was a wrong user ID in the config. Checked my ID on facebook copied it in the config and it worked. How to determine the right ID? Check the jolla post for getting facebook working with xmpp.

ahoi

Thanks for the tip. I tried this too, and now the Store version is working again. Everything except notifications works as it used to.

All I had to do, was to install the OBS-version of Friends, log in, uninstall it (leaving the config file untouched) and install Friends from Store.

next version updated to 1.50.2. Mosty gui work, but you have now much nicer posts. Next step is to implement video and events preview.

Update to latest 1.50.2

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish

When I start habour-friends and login with my FB credentials the program tells me "Something really bad happend. Please get in touch with the developer."

This is the error message (2x) from the command line:
Quote:

[D] expression for onErrorMessageChanged:53 -
==== Error ====
Cannot find userId object
==============
And yes, I also removed .config/harbour-friends/ and reinstalled the 1.50.2 update from the repository.

Is there anything missing?

I got someone else reporting the same issue to me. I will push an update with a lot of debug logs. Please send the logs to me afterwards.

one or two pages earlier i described the following scenario:

Installed new friends version and setup the account. After I was getting the same error message like you. The problem is that in the config file is a wrong user id. Don't know how that came in. Please follow this advice to get you're correct facebook id:

http://reviewjolla.blogspot.de/2015/...t-instant.html

If you determined the id edit the config file and replace the string id with the id from you're facebook page. All should went fine. Maybe a reboot is needed.

Yes, it works with the real FB id. Where does the wrong id come from?

Thanks a lot,
M.

This is generated in facebook, nothing to do with friends app. It is used to log Friends in a normal way: username/password. However I got that error ...

yes. If you have activated tfa on facebook I assume that it would be needed in the app also. Or you have the possibility to create an api secret. I think the only way atm. is to disable tfa, login in friends and enable it afterwards.

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish

Hey man, great work on this app!
I removed the config file and updated to 1.50.3. Now I was able to log in and everything looks like it's working great!
Sorry if this was asked before, but are there any plans to integrate FB notifications in the app? Also would it be possible to open the FB notifications from Jolla itself in the app?

Either way, keep up the good work!

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish

hi, great work! Friends is just as the native and official FB app should be on Sailfish, period.
I tried all versions, and for my daily use would be perfect, except at the moment notifications not working, showing limited news in the home and not permitting to open some links or photos.
I know those are known issues, so I always update to new versions and follow progress with joy!
A the moment, the only thing I can't figure out is why I can't install friends-integration-0.3.0: when I try to install .rpm, it always says "installation failed" and an icon appears in drawer, with the installation going on and stuck if I don't reboot the phone...
I'm on 1.1.7.24 Björnträsket, I tried with all versions, 1.0.3, 1.0.4, 1.0.50.x and it never worked, am I doing it wrong?

Maybe its an issue if you set an custom profile name on facebook?

My debug log:

config file as removed before start.

Hello,
What is your Facebook configuration. Do you use any two-factor authentification ? Any security features ?

Is there any chance for update?
I'm new JPhone user now and little disappointed about lack of full integrated FB feeds and RSS with events screen like MeeGo. Jolla should develop this or open for community!

https://youtube.com/watch?feature=yo...&v=S_ubaNocnlg

What is this? Why it worked 2 years ago?

That was the super awesome events view. It was killed by Facebook API changes. I was lucky enough to have a taste of it, but now it is gone. Hopefully not forever.

I also dislike the new Events View feed integration. You can no longer no longer see full Tweets without opening the browser (here's a workaround I found) nor retweet, favourite, or update your own status (=tweet). The same goes for the Facebook integration, which I disabled since I get the notifications via email to my dummy mail account.

I don't have app to edit this file, any recomendation?

It is terrible, but poor port 10.0.25 for N9 had better FB integration than official 2.0.10 now...

Enable developer mode + set password at Settings and type this into the Terminal:
Code:

devel-su
Now, type in the password you set. Then, type
Code:

pkcon install nano
This will install nano command line text editor. The next step is to type
Code:

nano /usr/share/lipstick/eventfeed/TwitterFeedItem.qml
Which will open the file. Now, use the arrow keys to find a code block which begins like this:
Code:

LinkedText {
    width:parent.width
    maximumLineCount: 4
    elide: Text.ElideRight

See that 4? Add some zeroes after it to make all the lines visible.
Then press ctrl followed by x. Press Y (may differ between languages) to save the changes and then press enter a couple of times. Then reboot your phone and enjoy long tweets.

Jarvis 2016-01-10 14:18

Re: [WIP] Friends, a Facebook client, now for Sailfish

Thanks, I remember nano, used this on N900 or N9 to edit some files.

What with XMPP integration? I thought that this is standart for mobile linux platforms.

It exists, doesn't it? Look at Settings -> Accounts
However, Facebook no longer supports XMPP:

Update: This workaround is not working any more since December 2015. Facebook doesn't accept XMPP login any more.
