However, I still don't know how to change audio streams. It's a disaster, since most videos I download have at least 2 audio streams, and the preffered-for-me English comes second.

Did you try to create the ~/.mplayer/config file with content:

alang="en"

Code:

if (you.care.about.normal.usage.pattern)
  print 'oh oh oh :(:(:('
else
  print 'no, just every device has this!'

Erm, yes. It is preinstalled (if you mean the application).
Or yes, you need OVI/Nokia Suite (latest version is okay) to download the maps to your device (if you mean the map data).
In latter case just search the forum and there is lot of info.

--edit
I really do not know how M$ will handle such map data download requests ...

Another (stupid) question - can I install Nokia's OVI maps on the device somehow?

It is already installed (unless you've done something really stupid, that is). It's the green icon that looks like a compass and has "Maps" written under it :)

Oh, you mean the maps themselves? I have not yet found any other way than through PC Suite. The Maps application downloads maps around your current location but as far as I know, PC Suite is the only way to batch download whole countries.

Make sure you start the Maps application first. AND you need to be online when you do. It will take some time to set up, download whatever it does (current satellite positions? index files? report your location to Nokia Microsoft? who knows?). Once set up, close the app and connect to PC in PC Suite mode to do the rest. You need to do that in that order otherwise PC Suite will complain that Maps is not installed.

Edit: Err, I see peterleinchen has beaten me to it.

No, you have it on your PC :) (But I see you've figured it out yourself, well done.)

When I start Maps application while being online (Wi-Fi), it takes some time to get GPS signal, it does show right coordinates, I guess, but no map =\ . I've found New York just for lulz - no streets, no roads, no nothing, just a marker and that's it.
That's weird. Yes it takes some time after the first start to set up. Maybe you weren't patient enough and it was still downloading the map around you. I remember when I was setting up one device after a reflash, I started the Maps app, put the phone on the window sill and went to give the kids a bath. Half an hour later, it was all set up, with my street proudly on the screen :)

Why it's not in FAQ, btw? Doesn't seem obvious to me. Thought PC Suite is pretty useless.
I agree it's not obvious. I guess Nokia engineers never imagined somebody would try downloading maps without running the app first.

Yes! :) But you gave out directly all info needed!! :cool:

@FlashInTheNight
on first start there is/will be created a file on (/home/user/)MyDocs named qf (or .qf) which holds some parameters for this (hackable html) app. E.g. if you want to download whole world.maps you need to rise space available (just have a look to that text file).

Well figured out. Do not ask me how much time I spent then as I was looking for info, too (but imagine yourself 3 or more years ago).
