That tweak is from IRC channel, by stskeeps, which is Jolla's man for technical research. Yes it does work. After that the device feels smooth like butter. I am using this last 3 days already. Battery lasts a bit less, but still much better than with the NFC bug :D

Try it. You will be surprised. It's gone after a reboot.

It really makes UI smoother. It is setting the GPU to max frequency. It may be possible to revert with using "ondemand" setting instead "performance" one.

It's a nice thing to do before showing somebody your Jolla for the first time. It does make all transitions very smooth.

Has anyone tried the Moga Game controller on the Jolla phone yet? I have one for my HTC One and it works pretty good. Lots of touchy touchies. http://www.mogaanywhere.com/

I suddenly remembered something about android apps not having access to bluetooth
I wonder if the upcoming update will make Android games work with bluetooth,

I wonder if Jolla will incorporate that new speed reading tech called spritz in their OS anywhere in future updates because I heard on the radio the Samsung Galaxy S5 will have it.

I wish there is a tweak to make it work after reboot, it makes such a differenct that I prefer sacrifising battery.:p

Of course it is possible. Just add that line to a startup script so it will be run when you boot the device.

That's a poor analogy, in what way was Jussi one of the keystone members of the organisation, please tell me, did he drive it from the very beginning, & does he continue to do so?
How are Marc & Tomi "copy cats", they each have their distinct roles, especially Marc from the earliest days (also a founding member -mind you)...
And how are they "riding the easy wave" in the wake of Jussi, I think that would be very offensive to them, you have lots of explaining to do, Dave...

I didn't start the convo with no logic, you responded to my benign sentence with some unfounded claims, which I called you out on, & which you still haven't addressed.
This clearly is becoming a pointless derailment, rather than a discussion about your unfounded claims, so it's best that we drop it, rather than subject everyone to it.

sure u did, with your batman line with unfunded claims. But again, you seems ignorant to that fact so i take resonsibility for your posts and my spin of your post. I hope thats ok and case is closed. You can go back to your task to bash and complain about jolla communication and i will ho back to waiting for the update with a short countdown.

Lets be clear here, I didn't make dumb assertions like:
"Jussi was the CEO who launched jolla, like bill gates and Steve jobs", or that Tomi & Marc are following in Jussi's wake by "riding the safe and easy wave", or that "Marc & batman are just copycats". All I ever said was, it'd be more pertinent if Tomi/Marc were used in such images nowadays, at no point did I make unfounded claims, apparently you don't understand what unfounded claims are.

I didn't demand that a new series of photo-shopped images be created, I merely made an absolutely correct observation.
Ofc for satirical purposes, having a new series doesn't matter that much, unless one prefers to be at least remotely historically accurate.
Anyway, this whole discussion has gone way past the realms of stupid, so, lets drop it...

I predict the release will be sometime in March, but they should take more time as needed if they're not 100% ready.
I don't want them releasing something half-baked, just because of lots of whining about them missing delivery targets.

I call Friday, seems to be the preferred Jolla release day ;)

On a separate note...

Given that this is the first full release is anyone else planning to do a full reste before the release? I know that on both my N900 and N9 the device always seemed to run better after this.

Question is do I do a full device reset before or after the update, or just not bother?

To change cpu governor at boot, do something like this :)
create /etc/systemd/system/cpug.service:

Code:

# nano /etc/systemd/system/cpug.service

(CTRL+O to save file, CTRL+X to exit nano)

Code:

[Unit]
Description=Change CPU Govenor performance
[Service]
Type=forking
ExecStart=/bin/sh -c "/bin/echo 'performance' > /sys/devices/platform/kgsl-3d0.0/kgsl/kgsl-3d0/pwrscale/trustzone/governor"
# If you install my cpufrequtils
# ExecStart=/usr/bin/cpufreq-set -g performance

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

start the cpug.service:

Code:

# systemctl start cpug.service

enable the cpug.service at boot:

Code:

# systemctl enable cpug.service

I attached the cpug.service file for you.
Remember to rename to cpug.service from cpug.service.txt

Test performance with terminal ;)

Interesting, since the update that we are all waiting is a "final" release, does that mean that after the update the default version after reset would be 1.0.4.x instead of 1.0.1.x.?

Yes, I noticed this "here" maps application really sucked. It was useless when it didn't update the location. It made completely brainless routing for a walk that was pretty easy.
It should be called "there" maps instead, or "not here" maps or perhaps "not anywhere" maps.

One thing though that almost made me throw the Jolla in the wall this week was at a visit on IKEA. I had to transfer more money from savings to the main account so I went called into my manual banking service. There I had to identify myself of course using the numeric tones. Nearly every time I tried entering my personal security number or the password that damned keyboard issued double-taps (sent the same number twice). This ended up in that I locked my phone service account. Of course I could get home and fix this over internet, but it did ruin my day completely.

This was a serious bug and it was consistent. It sent the same number twice intermittently and irritated the hell out of me. People though I was a madman standing there shouting at my jolla.

THIS thing has to be fixed. No#1 on my prio list.
