Aww no, Jolla! Along with SMS, phone call & browser, this is absolutely non-negotiable in a modern device. I've spent the last 3 hours thinking that things were going to be golden, but no such luck. I saw all that that calendar stuff in the change log, I guess I saw what I wanted to see there. Every day without proper mature calendar support I feel as though I'm going to miss some appointment. I think I'm going to have to go back to the N9 as my main device until this is sorted out. Not nearly so excited for this update now. I know there's lots of cool stuff and bug fixes and that a huge amount of hard work has gone into it, but this is a critical thing for me. Oh well, back to being [sort of] patient... |

Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I have tried more than ten times now to get the update, and each time it fails. I know Jolla servers are overloaded etc. etc. but I wonder why there isn't a progress bar or any message returned when the download fails - just booted back to "Updates available".
I had this trouble with 1.0.3.8 but not as bad as this. C'mon! It's the middle of the night in Europe now! Shouldn't you all be asleep? In any case, as per my previous post, the lack of proper CalDAV support makes this update probably of only entertainment value to me. The stability improvements are great, but until & unless Sailfish includes proper calendar support, the Jolla is basically a [very] shiny toy as far as I'm concerned... Edit: wouldn't it be better for everyone (Jolla and other users included) if the update just downloaded slowly, instead of starting and then failing over & over? Don't understand why it keeps failing - 5kB/s to completion is better than 150kB/s which keeps failing and resetting. I'm getting nowhere and I'm wasting Jolla's bandwidth too - what a result! Edit2: coming back to this problem in the light of day, I realise that I missed the progress indicator, which goes across the entire picture at the top! So, err... sorry for that misguided piece of my rant. I'm sure others have pointed it out below, but honestly I did realise it for myself - for what that's worth, However, I still wish there was an error message on failure (perhaps there's something hidden somewhere in a log file, but it should be presented to me without having to know some secret) |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Okay so i have issues now due to me not disabling warehouse repositories
I've downloaded the rndis driver for my mac Rebooted jolla in to recovery mode Connected jolla to mac Gone to terminal and typed in telnet Then typed o 10.42.66.66 Says operation timed out......it just won't work!!!!!!!! |

Edit: Also, are you sure you want to telnet rather than SSH? By default, telnet will attempt to connect on port 23 (telnet service) but SSH is on port 22 and is a totally different service. Important difference. If you point me to the instructions you're using I can see if this is a helpful comment or if I'm accidentally misleading you, but I'd be surprised if pure telnet is the answer here. I'm not a Mac expert, but I believe you should just be able to open a OSX terminal and type: Code:
ssh <IP of your Jolla> |

I don't have ssh enabled in developer mode so it looks like i have to go through telnet. The instructions I have followed are: http://thejollablog.wordpress.com/20...recovery-mode/ The IP address may be different on my phone, I have no idea how to figure it out though, as I can't open any apps :/ EDIT: Jolla phone only uses 2 iP addresses.... have used both, same result |

Ideally that expansion would begin long before Dec, if they're serious about putting down roots outside the EU. Damn it, I always miss these releases, apparently I went to bed just before this thread heated-up, lotsa reading! Okay all caught-up now*, meh, still sounds quite mediocre all-up, I hope they continue w/an aggressive release early/often approach, mediocre can soon disappear if they continue that. *including here |

anyone missing the ambience setting??

Edit: OK, so now I see the bit in the 1.0.2.5 release notes which discusses these two IP addresses as the ones to try - although there is no kind of explanation as to why these two are the magic targets. I freely admit that there are lots of Jolla & Sailfish things out there which I haven't read. Hopefully someone can help resolve the issue for Dared. Is it possible there's some sort of firewall on your Mac blocking these attempts? |

in MWC 2014, there is ambience setting, which is missing in 1.0420
|
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Still no luck! I'll shoot over an email to Jolla to see what they say
|

There's no DHCPD in Jolla when you enter recovery mode, if you have the correct drivers a new IP interface will appear but you need to give it an address in the same subnet as the device is, before you can connect to it. If that's not done correctly, and you try to telnet to the device, your telnet packets will just go out your default route :D |

can you ping the Jolla device? |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Okay, so let me list everything i've done
I go into network => advanced => tcp/ip => configure ipv4 => set that to maunal => then enter 192.168.2.14 and then save that Then I start phone with volume down key pressed, connect phone via usb, go into terminal, type in telnet, then type in o 192.168.2.15 |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
When i connect the jolla, all these usb listings and recovery listings keep popping up under network devices
|
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
That might be because of you are using a MAC... unfortunatey I don't know much of those.
Now as I tried it, I was wrong earlier when I told you thet there's no DHCPD in Jolla, indeed the device gave me IP addtess 10.42.66.80/8 when I connected it in recovery mode. I tried pinging it, and it resdponds: juice@osiris:~$ ping 10.42.66.66 Then I just telnet into it and get the recovery prompt: juice@osiris:~$ telnet 10.42.66.66 |

I like to have the ability to send pictures of my daughter to my parents. I (being the geek in family) completely understand their are better alternatives to MMS in 2014, but none of the alternatives fit my use case. And I can't think of another phone that doesn't support MMS. |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Think this has already been posted, nonetheless it'll be of interest to folks who haven't seen it, esp. those who don't have a Jolla:
Hands on with Sailfish OS 1.0 (1.0.4.20) After The Release |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Exactly.
Different things are important for dofferent people. For example, @shallimus is worrying about the calendar sync support, which is something I could not care less, I hardly use the calendar in my device at all, except for checking which is the current date. (no sync needed there) On the other hand, I have froiendas that regularily send me MMS'es, and I'd like to see them without logging on to my provider's MMS gateway page which is pretty tedious procedure. |

Not a single note on alien dalvik improvements. Installing paid apps still crashes play. Lets hope the tracker indexing problem at startup is gone.
couldn't care less about mms tho, stopped using it years ago. Device is buttery smooth now. Battery tests to follow I guess. Thanks Jolla, you guys are awesome. Keep it up! |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Did anyone else have adblock installed in the sailfish browser? At least for me, adblock doesn't seem to work after the update. And in about:addons I can't navigate at all.

The keyboard has never failed on me in that way before when it comes to writing sms or mails or elsewhere so it is indeed strange. I even tried to be extremely careful with my finger just bouncing it very quickly but STILL it generated double numbers. Can sweat or dirt or fat on the fingers be the cause for such behaviour? I haven't installed any weirdnesses as far as I know, so I can tell something was going on. |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
love to see all the happy faces after the update. We are not Beta any more. Woohoooooo.
first day of noBeta went smooth. Thx jolla and the jolla supporters around the globe. |

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
I can't get recovery with USB3 port :D when i switch USB2 it worked! but i can't get in to the Jolla's memory (mtp) if i do use USB2 port (odd), so i must then use USB3. Then i only write: telnet 10.42.66.66 . I using Ubuntu.
I have BIG problem, so can someone help me.. i did have repositories enabled and everything seems to be alright, but when i updated jolla-xt9-0.4.4* it's not ok anymore! I can't get in Peoples info and i can't write any txt or any other messages.. I try to remove it, but it didn't help. I don't like to factory reset, because i have many android games and those saves will be gone or i have to make my google play again.. |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Hmm, button on a wired headset still no go. No reaction or anything in media player nor phone app.
THAT thing I would have thought would be a rather easy thing to finalize by the Jollas. Not complaining, just saying...:D EDIT: Has anyone spied on dbus messages for that thing? Does it work at all, hardware-wise? |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Disabled open repos, updated, finished quickly
|
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Has anyone tested if the connections now work like they're supposed to? I was only out of the house for an hour today, but I got the feeling there were still problems.
|
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Update went smoothly
No issue. And now I feel it is better though still not perfect ;) And we are never far away from the next update :) |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
WLAN and 3G connections still require a kick (disable/enable from settings) occasionally before they start to work. Usually happens when connections haven't been used for a while. So nothing changed in that front, but otherwise new release works fine.
