So, the phone has to juggle with two different APNs. Ask frals, who did the implementation of MMS on the N900. |

Compass worked already since the last update.
What still doesn't work is the recognition of WLan with some apps  |

But IS it a play-store issue, or is it a matter of supporting android api's/features properly? |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Another couple of things that bugs me the most, the notifications screen (or whatever it is called) feels much to unused. Jolla should find out how it could be utilized better, a lot of screen estate is lost to nothing.
And...being able to categorize applications somehow. I have a jungle of applications now (even if I am not a user that installs too much crap) and I'd prefer them in maps or categories rather than launching that community-developed Quick Launcher (not that its a bad application or anything, its fine). EDIT: Oh, the email-application just bugged out on me. On the main screen (listing the different accounts) I couldn't selected any of them. It was like the gui elements was disabled. Restarting the email app and the accounts were clickable again. When it happened I had viewed a mail, zoomed out of it so that I could see the dots to go back. Then at the main mail screen, no accounts were selectable (even though they looked the same as usual). |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Hi. Didn't see this posted but this seems to summarize changes and some remaining issues.
https://together.jolla.com/question/...0420-ohijarvi/ Also just wondering, as I expect to get my phone on April 14 will there be another update by then? Just askin' ... Also, as I'm a big fan of mms, has anyone tried using an android app to do mms as it currently appears to not work on Jolla phone. The app I use on my android phone is called Hangouts https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...e.android.talk One more thing, for those in the US where data on Jolla phone is nonexistence. I just found out that you can get 2.5GB data on T-mobile for $20 a month using their 4G Hotspot device. Though not a perfect solution it is doable for many situations. |

I wish they'd just stop messing about trying to be different to the N9 and blatantly copied the 3 panel layout that was so good on the N9. Having all your events, notifications, meetings in one stream on one screen was great and didn't require some thumb bending swipe up from the bottom of the screen edge - a gesture I never used on the N9 either. |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
I also fully agree with Larswad and aegis. The lock/notification screen should be made to use much better. Right now there is "nothing" there to be used, except to use the pulley menu for few quick access items that we can't even arrange ourselves. Would love to have the N9 like notifications screen in place of the lock screen also.
Anyone been able to utilise bluetooth connections on android side? I wan't to get my Pebble working with this... Is there one "do it all" command to re-enable all my Openrepos repositories or do I have to do it one by one in terminal (PuTTy)? |

If you disabled, you can reenable like this Code:
for i in $(ssu lr 2>&1 | grep openre | cut -d" " -f3); do ssu er $i ; done |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
I did
ssu dr openrepos-name of repository so I only disabled them. Can still see them with ssu lr-command. So I can use that looooonnng command you provided, right? It is scary long :p |

It is an android/iphone one since I had to buy an adapter for it to work on my N900. It is the "Koss Porta Pro", the one with button on it. Even if the iPhone crap-standard prevailed, the Nokia standard was the best one from an electrical point of view. |

I hope I managed to mark my question as being sincere and not intended to annoy anyone, because it was a genuine wish to know why people still care about MMS. I started out assuming there are good reasons to want it still. Now I have some idea what those are :) |

Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
My disappointments after this update:
1. Still no Voice Mail Notification. 2. No Calendar notification 3. No MMS 4. Cannot click/swipe on notification icons on lock screen 5. No solution to avoid scrolling to top on long list/pages to access pull down menu. I like after the update: 1. Butter smooth - no lagging so far 2. Bluetooth audio A2DP lockup seems to have resolved with my car 3. Lipstick does not seem to take over the system. Haven't had to kill it. 4. Haven't had to reboot since the update 5. Contact showing type of phone number Final thought. I still like the N9/Harmattan interface. Why did they have to change it? It is like they changed it just to be different. It was so natural. We just needed some fixes. I wish someone starts an open source project to put Harmattan like interface on Nemo. |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Anyone been brave enough to enable google calendar sync? Exactly what will happen once I enable a google account? I'd like it to only interact with the calendar, but apperently that's not an option.

Me? I tend to use email a lot for sending images, as I don't typically need a quick response. A lot of people use WhatsApp (yes, yes, I know about the privacy concerns) or Facebook or that Apple thing (iMessage?) or Telegram or various other things I probably don't even know about. I guess there are as many combinations of valid ways of sending messages as there are people who send messages. I hope you get your MMS support on Jolla! :) Edit: hey, looks like you get MMS next update! Cool! (see below) |

I agree with other statements here that notifications screen thingie is just not used anywhere near to its potential and I would certainly rather just access it like on harmattan. I don't think I'm the only one that especially on the early days when they got the phone forgot the whole thing existed. |

1. Nothing happens when you swipe from the side edges of the launcher icons screen. What a waste! It is a natural gesture. 2. Swipe to left and right from Lock Screen and home screen - 4 screens - resereved for Ambiance. Why? 3. Can only see 9 running apps? And they call it the best multi-tasking platform? Home screen swipe left/right could easily get rid of the 9 open app limit. That is if Jolla wants to do it. These things are not my idea, but has been mentioned many times. Jolla seems to be ignoring them though. I had hoped Jolla will listen to some of the suggestions that the users made. Don't get me wrong, but I still like Jolla, but I wish they will start working or tell us that we will look into making the interface more intuitive. |

Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
Only because you think it would be cool doesn't make everyone think it is.
I am satisfied with 9 apps. I don't want horizontal scrolling on apps list. Give me folders and all is well. |

All these things you don't want/need! Presumably your experience is better with less choice, which makes me think of another ecosystem altogether ;) Still, I agree that launcher folders are a great idea. Hopefully they'll be in the next release. |

I must say. I am very happy after update :). None bug for me yet.. Only tiny lag in home view, when scrolling and wait a little and scrol again.

Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
I take the 9 app covers limitation as an effective warning. The device has only 1 GB of RAM, so you better not open too many apps the same time.
This strategy seems to work very well (On the N9 I used the same strategy). Sometimes it's just time to think about what apps to close. |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)

It was fine on N9. On Jolla, I keep weather app, calendar app, facebook app, twitter, etc in addition to standard apps. See you did not have to keep these apps open on N9. You could access all those information without any app open. Heck, you can't even see today date, unless you open calendar app. Why can't they display that on the lock screen. So just to get basic information, you need at least 5+ apps open. Then messaging, email and a browser. You are done. How about Whatsup, Vibor, Contacts, Phone, Notes, etc? |
Re: Sailfish now on 1.0 (Jolla MWC announcement)
I am sorry. I don't want to hijack this thread.
I appreciate the hard work Jolla has done to give us the needed update. Thank you sailors!!! Since Sailfish seems to be stable after this update, maybe Jolla will have time to start listening to (my!) whining. |
