Any U.S. T-Mobile users?
 

Is anyone in the U.S. using T-Mobile to successfully tether the N800 using Bluetooth? I'd love to know if there are any T-Mobile phones that work WITHOUT having to hack/flash phone firmware. Anything just "work" right out of the box?

I regularly connect through a Nokia E70 over Bluetooth, using my T-Mobile connection. It's not very fast, but it's Internet access anywhere.

I was using T-mobile for a short time before switching to ATT. I used a nokia 6682 and it paired up just fine, using the N800 connection wizard. I didn't have to add or hack any drivers. If I remember correctly, you need to pair it through the phone menu in the N800's control panel, and not by creating a bluetooth pairing first. After that it will ask you to create a new connection and ask for your phone provider. Make sure both are set up as authorized so they can connect with out a prompt from you.

used t-mobile with nokia 6682 (edge) and Moto razr v3 (gprs)

Just pair and go (if you have a t-mobile internet plan 30$ per month)

You can also use with tzones but you have to setup the connection manually

Yep, I set it up during the initial-boot wizard, where it asks you to first pair a phone, then choose a plan. No issues at all.

I've been unsuccessful with my N800 and a T-mobile Dash. The Dash uses windows mobile 6 and the N800 doesn't support the PAN format that windows uses. I've loaded a patch on my phone, but still no luck. Can't wait til someone fixes this problem.

Same here - paired it with a Motorola Krazr during initial setup, and configured the proxy for the $5.99 T-MobileWeb plan.

Hi,

Fellow TMob user.

Unfortunately for you there is no straightforward way to tether the N800 to the Dash because the Dash is Windows Mobile 6 and does not support Bluetooth DUN out of the box.

There are two solutions, both of which I have used to much success.

1) Painful way- Do some searches for Bluetooth PAN on internettablettalk. You'll find a couple of shell scripts to use that will allow you to setup a dummy IAP (which won't work quite right, but well enough). And you'll find some directions to follow to get it all working. It isn't as smooth a connection as the DUN connection because of a couple of well documented bugs in Maemo.

2) Pretty easy way- Search xda-developers.com forums for the WM6 Bluetooth DUN cab file. Copy it to your phone using ActiveSync and then run it. It will install the missing DUN profile and then you will be able to pair just like everyone else around here.

I realize you'd prefer not to install anything on the phone, but it is your best choice.

Yes. My Nokia N95 on T-Mobile works just fine.
Of course, I'm no fool and didn't go for any of their locked-down cripple-phones.
