Yeah
grudgingly and reluctantly agree :D
Gotta admit the Note would be the ONLY other option for me...
and only under duress.
It would be JUST bearable with the larger screen (lil' too large for my liking...) and debian or 'buntu running.
thank goodness I don't need to make that choice.

:D Sorry about that.

But, hey it is cool to hear that LibreOffice is working on the Note 3. Could you give us a quick summary of what works and what doesn't?

and if it doesn't have a resistive screen...

You know, I like the resistive screen too, but I was rather impressed with what Samsung have done with their screen and the stylus on the Note 3. You can even use the S5 wearing gloves! (not sure about the Note 3).

Big curiosity +2 that from me too...
I'm always curious...
I have kept 1 eye on the note 3...
but haven't done any serious research...
what else does it run?
what progs
what os's
huh...
For a non-resistive screen ...using gloves is quite an improvement.
yeah man I wanna see the list too :D

Well, I have LibreOffice, wxMaxima, Latex, Cadabra, evince, Emacs and Firefox on my Ferdora img. They all seem to work ok except for sound. I think there is a fix for that but I don't know for sure if it works. You can actually run android apps seperately while the linux distribution is running including making a phone call texting or using a youtube app for example. The android sdcard is mounted so I have access to my files on the phone from, say, the Fedora distribution I'm running. The desktop environment is made via vnc connection otherwise you will simply have a terminal to run basic commands. Let me know if you want to know something else.

Gloves work on the Note 3, but not 100%.
It can get annoying like today, I was holding a pack of gums between my thumb and the phone and it started playing music on its own.

There's also gloves with fingertips that have some sort of fiber that registers screen taps.

I gotta say, I haven't experimented much with the Note 3.
I can't remember chroot'ing it. I never kept AOSP ROMs.
The only thing I need is the VillainMOD ROM (its an "aosp-ication" of TouchWiz) but allows you to have the proper camera stack, radios, and not stuff up stability or battery life like most AOSP ROMs tend to.

Oh, ofcourse I need Xposed and my choice of Apps (Apex, Kii, 500px etc etc).

I can't ask much more from the N3, its close to perfection as Samsung has ever come to. S4 isn't too bad, S5 is just horrid... M8 is overrated.
