Some facts; Any iPhone can be opened, it just takes some time and you need to physically have the device in your possession. Of course both Apple and the feds know this.

Now both parties also have nothing against the popular belief that the devices are non-hackable; Apple wants to promote their devices and FBI has nothing against people believing that their phones are secure.

The FBI's real agenda is to get Apple to install such a backdoor into their devices that opening can be done really quick, with just a moments covert access to the device or preferably if it could be done by remote connection.

Good question. If they're identical sensors and lenses, it would have to be doing two things simultaneously that required different sensor settings e.g., gain, color balance. OTOH, if they had different lenses or sensors, they each be optimized for different conditions or purposes.

But it sure does seem awfully close together for stereo.vision. Although birds do it, we still haven't quite built eagle's eyes in silicon yet.

How about one-shot super-wide angle? Super HuweiScope? Kinda far-fetched, maybe. But doing really wide aspect shots wastes a lot of one lens.

This article summarizes some key features of the camera. One is actually color the other monochromatic. Supposed to enhance definition, replaces OIS, improved low light and so forth. But I was hoping for the larger screen P9 Max...

One of my friends is a retired RCMP captain...
I showed him this a week ago ...
It certainly makes him worried...
he is now of the opinion that with this new type of concealed firearm (which is highly illegal here...it is also illegal here to carry firearms around openly) disguised as a smartphone...(let alone the ones or cases with tasers)
it will mean that police will not take chances when engaging persons holding smartphones...and nowadays...who doesn't always have their smartphone in their hand?

I think this makes ChromeOS a viable option for use on phones. The great thing about ChromeOS on phones would be that it uses glibc and seems to be compatible with X11 (it actually uses a display server called Freon but from what I can tell, it is largely compatible with X11). We may start to see phones that have compatible graphics drivers rather than the Android-only mess that we are currently stuck with.

The other nice thing of course is that it also opens up the possibility of having an alternative to Shashlik and sfdroid for running Android apps on normal Linux.

Great ideas; but it will take some serious hacking to get all of this up and running.

A lot of the hard work has already been done on Chromebooks. Admittedly, the situation on ARM isn't as rosy as it is on x86 but the ChrUbuntu method for installing Linux might be a good starting point. Let's wait and see if anyone takes the plunge to release a ChromeOS phone.

If you're referring to X11 design flaws, thus security issues, I half take your point but many of those can be mitigated if you know what you are doing. X11 is still the display server of choice on probably over 95% of Linux distros. How about if you ask the same question to desktop Linux users?

Did that site mention security? Sorry I cannot check now as none of the devices I have on me can render that abomination of a website. Not that I would want to do that again. All I remember was some space cr@p and diamonds.

Further the phone has pretty good specs. Might prefer that over Note 7. There are very few 6"+ phones available in US. Hoepefully it makes it here! Another upcoming phone (6"+) that is rumoured to have a US release is the Honor Note 8

I believe you need specific hardware to use tango. There are a few tango based apps in the playstore and none of my phones are compatible with it.
