Donating my N9
Hello all,
I have been an avid supporter of this forum since my N900, have donated a couple of thousand USD to devs and will continue to help in any way I can as I appreciate everything everyone has been doing for this dead platform, Meego Harmattan. I hope despite the Jolla phone coming out there are some generous souls that would still like to develop and keep the N9 fresh and exciting until it's become overwhelmingly apparent there is no need to do so. For this reason I am going to donate my Nokia N9 which I have owned since Nov. of 2011. I paid $865 for this thing and it has never let me down. It has fulfilled every expectation and need I required from my daily phone without a hitch. The phone is in relatively good shape with normal wear and tear and has been dropped a few times and nothing has broken as a result. I am not abandoning this phone just yet. I have a backup N9 sitting brand new in the box that I'm going to use as the replacement until something else peaks my interest. Since Ancelad released the sailfish theme I feel like I have a new and improved N9 in my hands. Whether its all in my head or not I am happy with it. I am going to transfer everything over to my new N9, wipe the old one, and start with a fresh flash for the new owner. Any devs interested in having this phone please get a hold of me. I don't know who I will pick and maybe I'll have a private raffle to decide who gets it but I am hoping it will go to a dev that needs one to develop specifically for the N9. Please be honest and promise to continue to develop for the N9 and I will seriously consider you for donation. The recipient will only need to split the shipping with me to your location. That is all. Thanks again to everyone :) |

Re: Donating my N9
Thats really nice of you.

Re: Donating my N9
I just logged in to say that I'm impressed by your donation offer. It is refreshing to see somebody going out of way to push for N9's development past the end-of-life.
Although who wouldn't like a free N9, I'll hesitate to ask because I'd rather let it be in the hands of a developer or somebody who has/can/will contribute(d) for maintaining the beautiful N9's legacy. Good luck and thank you! |
Re: Donating my N9
Donate it to Cepiperez.he needs it most i guess

Re: Donating my N9
Hello all,
I have decided to donate my N9 to Cepiperez. I know it is going to a good home and that he will use it for future development with the N9. Thanks to all that were interested and I appreciate all of the support you have given to this great phone. The N9s continued growth would have surely halted without the tremendous group effort from everyone here. |

Thanking him though for all of his hard work and hoping he doesn't abandon us because we need people like him. |
Re: Donating my N9
Still, very cool to think about donating your phone to a needy dev.

Re: Donating my N9
no offense but n9 never had any decent community effort , ever.
I remember when n900 came out in '09 there were hell'a ton ports , emulators , hacks that even allowed for cable ethernet.. We are over glorifying people that add a few numbers on the standby screen or making a whatsapp replica. |

Also the community made much more than whatsapp and billboard. Please read through the forums before talking out of your hat. The diff between the N9 and the N900 is that meego is a bit more closed conpared to maemo. |

Never thought in my lifetime there would be a sucessor for the n900 , and on wiki 3 weeks ago I saw it. So I bought a 64gb n9 in a heartbeat , even though it costed a bit much. I guess you could say I am pissed at both , but mainly at nokia , because devs have no motivation for them killing maemo 6.. But I expected more from this community , especially a MAEMO 6 DOWNLOADS section on maemo.org.. I mean n900 was really exciting.. I was running early osx , a unique emulator , and some 90s rpg ported to it.. This feels like a iphone copy , with a little better multitasking than ios.. Idk there just is nothing more to it , not more to discover about the device or applications. |

iPhones don't belong on TMO, they belong on Apple forums. If you don't like your N9, why don't you just return it or sell it? It's not like you're obligated to keep it. Devs are in need of devices like the one you have, and if you don't want it, get rid of it. No need to bash it because you're comparing it to a flagship device of the No. 1 company in the world. Apple has:
Don't compare MeeGo to iOS, the two are nothing alike. Sorry if I sound rude, but you're seriously asking far too much from the community. The N9 is a much less hackable device, although it is somewhat hackable after openmode. If you prefer your N900, stick to that. New content comes out for it all the time, just as frequently as the N9. |

You forgot this important bullet point, especially talking about ccomparisons. |

This community didn't do a ton as it did to n900 period. There isn't even a downloads section on maemo.org for maemo6. Perhaps if there was , it wouldn't be as abandoned. |

HOWEVER, there are TONS of applications that have been made or ported specifically for the N9. You have to TRY a little. Openrepos has a bevy of great programs. This board (though not collected), has thread after threat after thread filled with the amazing work of this community. Just because you owned a N900 is the past does not give you the right to dismiss the N9 community as being lazy or unproductive. If it is not the phone for you, no problem. However, this community has made a forgotten platform viable several years after abandonment. |
Re: Donating my N9
I've donated the package costs to you, justadude. It's been a while now...
When are you going to send the package to CepiPerez? We're all waiting.... |
Re: Donating my N9
Cepi don't have a phone or what? I know the story but he still don't have a phone? Maybe he tricked you on the package costs...
|
Re: Donating my N9

It seems like justadude didn't sent the phone (yet) I've payed the package costs directly to justadude. He confirmed that he received the money |
Re: Donating my N9
Wasn't this incident months ago? Anyone know what'. Up with Cepi? How do you know where to send the phone. Cepi still a member?
|
Re: Donating my N9

'justadude' was offering his phone. But he asked for the shipping costs. So I donated the shipping costs, so 'justadude' could send the phone to CepiPerez. Yes, CepiPerez is still a member (I talk to him a lot, don't worry) |
Re: Donating my N9
