This grid 5x6 is also part of advanced patch.

You can use this launcher combined patch to make phone 5x7 for example :)

5x6 is not available. Pity!

As of today, Sailfish is still not on par with Meego in terms of usability, a port of Billboard would help.

As far as I have understood this Jolla screen has different tech than N9 so this billboard (standby screen) is not possible.

This is as far as I remember. Please correct if I am wrong :)

Yes, sorry, [excuses]I was extremely busy at work for a few weeks followed by a week off. Then 1.1.4-järvi came out.[/excuses] I am back to normality now and can have a look. Thanks for the kick.

Check Launcher Combined Patch and then customize your grid using the dconf command. :)

Uploaded a new Calendar Patch that combines all other Calendar patches to OpenRepos - Patch: Sailfish Calendar.

Unapply and uninstall all other Calendar patches before installing and apply this patch.

This patch will add "Patch Settings" option to pull down menu of the Calendar app. Coderus thanks for your help.

You may need to close and reopen Calendar for some changes to take effect. Try changing to another month and back if a change in Patch Settings did not get applied right away.

Please test and let me know if works! Enjoy!

Thanks a lot, it works, but it has some issues:
  • Strange, but when I enable it, the "Restart preloaded services" is not enabled and I had to reboot the phone, only me?
  • If you select "Begin week on monday", then the day name displayed on the colomn header is wrong, shifted from 1 day

I think that's because the patch doesn't affect preloaded services, only the Calendar app. So you don't need to restart preloaded services or reboot, just relaunch Calendar.

I am aware that it is not working correctly.

The weekday name header is displayed correctly, but the dates showed will start week from Sunday, when you open Calendar.

As a work around for now, you can swipe left or right to another month and swipe back, it seems to fix itself. But it will be wrong again when you restart Calendar.

I will try to figure it out.

Don't really know my way around commands in terminal.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

you don't need to do anything in terminal, it have nice settings applet to modify launcher behaviuor

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

coderus is right... open launcher settings applet and adjust to your needs :)

okourkoulos 2015-05-08 07:59

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

OK.
Then, I am missing something here.
From the launcher settings I cannot make 5x6, only 5x7.
That's because I am able to change the columns count and not the rows count in the same set.
Whenever I change column count in 5 it gets 5x7 automatically.
In this setting, the icons are too small (for me, at least).
That's why I thought you were talking about terminal.
It's no big deal, I have it 4x6 now, but just to understand.

Thanks for your patience guys!

Hello All,

Have anyone else noticed that screen is not going automatically black anymore? Or is it just me?

I mean this Options -> screen -> automatic shutdown

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Hi guys.

Over the last couple of updates Jolla changed the aplication loading animation and closing app animation.
Closing an app now looks like the screen is lagging and the background image is tearing, there is no smooth transition anymore:( It feels like someone forgot to turn on vsync on a old CRT monitor or when you freshly install windows and still dont have the drivers for your graphics installed.

What is the goal behind this UI changes, why change something that isnt broken? It feels like change just for the sake of change, no added value what so ever. Doesnt Jolla have more pressing matters to attend to, rather than messing with already working bits of UI?

I dont think I like where all this dumbed down, oversimplified UI is going.

I apeal to you masters of patch making, if its possible bring back the old animation of closing apps. Im willing to financialy support the author and his effort.

This is probably obvious, but how do you uninstall (not just not use) a patch? :o

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Possibly a bit offtopic (but related):

Dumb Jolla (or me ;))!

I updated device to latest äkaälöülëiöäkä version. All fine. Had all patches disabled. Updated all available SW/patches.
Then a few days later I decided to activate the patches again. Did it all-in-one step. Went through all installed patches and tried to apply (some did not work but that was/is known).
Restarted lipstick and ...
BAM
An empty screen (with just the wallpaper) looked at me.
Nothing works, no apps, no up-down-side swiping, no notification screen. The display stays empty all the time. Only the lock when swiping from top works (shows the lock icon). Furthermore the coderus lockscreen on power button works with displaying selections (and selected app -torch- starts but wothout screen). That's it.

Unfortunately it seems that the upgrade changed the root password? As I cannot ssh into the device (do I have to use root or or user or what account?). Even it worked I had no idea what to check else disabling ausmt.

Any hints?

Let us continue this one explicitly here.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Try the recovery mode (volume down + power button), then telnet into your device, then chroot into the rootfs and try to fix it.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

my root password was not changed by the update.

go to terminal and write following:

rm -rf /var/lib/patchmanager
pkcon install lipstick-jolla-home-qt5
pkcon install jolla-settings-system
pkcon install jolla-settings-networking
pkcon install jolla-settings-bluetooth

Then you need to install patchmanager and all patches again rom warehouse. It should work.

Hello Coderus,

Just for the check, does this work with this newest OS update also?

I should run clean installation :)

Decently written patches unapply themselves on unistallation.
All my patches - including the old remorse timer settings - do that.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Coderus,

I just got this patchmanager installed clean. Everything went well :)

I am still having one problem that my phone does not shut down screen after this time (in my case 15 seconds) Edit: I think that this is not related to patchmanager or any patches, because this did not fixed.. Edit: Now this is fixed via mcetool (a tip from a friend)

So is there possible to make patch close to this sneek peek? see suggestion below,

Is there possible to make patch that when you put phone to the pocket, it will shut down screen?

I think that it could be used something from sneek peek patch coding, but not sure, because I am not programmer :)

Best Regards,
Mikko
