I agree. There is too much space between rows.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Has anyone (with dev skills) considered a patch to prevent automatic reordering of covers by recency?

For me it's confusing more often than it helps, even if I understand this design choice (especially with multitask limited to 9 covers). But with unlimited multitask, or when there are less than 10 covers, having fixed positions would be really useful. I prefer the "manually arranged desktop" idea over the automatic-permanently-shifting-ordering.

nice idea !
I agree that with lots of apps opened, from time to time, you can get a little confused if you switch quickly from app to app without taking a look at the covers before :D

If Better Call-log still not work, you can try this:

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

i think i messed my system a bit, because something seems to went wrong when i removed some patches. they shows activated, but they are definitely not.
what is worse, that patchmanager renewed the backup file after the patches where installed. so i think the files get completly deleted someway and now i'm not able to use the browser, the gallery and the call screen anymore.
also an new installation of lipstick doesn't change anything.

maybe someone knows which files get changed by:
-better call-log
-vibrate when connected
-better video controls
and all 3 of coderus browser patches ?

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

got it!

i had to remove and reinstall "sailfish-components-gallery-qt5", "sailfish-browser-settings" and all of the dependencies without restarting the phone. :D

Ok, new version of sailfisos is out again (https://together.jolla.com/question/...11038-uitukka/)

Is it safe to apply patches with new version?

And here I thought the patch manager was broken after the 1.0.7.16 update :D... Tested it too again after a long time and it seems select text on browser patch as well as some other but quick settings for notifications patch and many others don't work. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. SDK should be released early next week.

Patchmanager does work but not the base and advanced patches... The only patches working seem to be Disable volume warning, Maths in Alarm, Select text in browser and Disable word snap selection in browser. Most of the patches fail most likely because of the updated Qt.

Hi.
I was using patch manager since few weeks, and it's very usefull !
But, yesterday i do the new update, and forgot to uninstall/unapply patches.
I saw that the new version of sailfish seems to actually not work with patchmanager, but i want to uninstall patches properly, can someone explain me it ?

Excuse my english ..

Nice day !

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Patchmanager works as it should with the latest update (1.1.0.x), however the lipstick home folder went through a major reorganization, so the patches need to be updated in order to work. Here are the advanced patches updated, some not yet working:

https://github.com/bundyo/sailfishos-patches-advanced

Don't try unlimited multitask, even if it installs fine - it will break your app list :)

I don't currently have the SDK installed, maybe someone can publish an RPM with the updated patches (maybe with a different name, so that we don't break the people with older OS versions).

EDIT: Also updated the base patches that didn't work:

https://github.com/bundyo/sailfishos-patches-base

EDIT: Built some RPMs, untested. Here:

sailfishos-patches-base-0.4.4-10.8.2.jolla.noarch.rpm
sailfishos-patches-advanced-0.3.2-10.6.2.jolla.noarch.rpm

Make sure to disable all affected patches before installation.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

agreed. patchmanager is NOT EQUAL with patches it applying.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Can we just paste the github content somewhere on our devices or will we have to wait for someone to provide a rpm?

Bundyo 2014-10-26 11:00

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Yep, you can.

/usr/share/patchmanager/patches/

Folders are named base-something and adv-something for base and advanced patches respectively. The contents are the same.

Make sure you only replace uninstalled patches.

Bundyo 2014-10-26 12:17

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Built some RPMs - in the original post above. Not tested. Also make sure to disable all affected patches before installation.

so did the silly thing of updating without unapplying the patches, none lf them remove now and.i've tried uninstalling the packages

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

Are you on update 9? The old patches can't be installed on it and the new patches can't be installed on the old one.

Hi! This is crutch i did for me.
Makes launcher 5x6. But permanently can't unapply patch.
Just replace /usr/share/lipstick-jolla-home-qt5/launcher/LauncherGrid.qml with this one. Don't forget to backup this. Then go to PM and restart services.

juiceme 2014-10-27 06:51

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

I am not sure about the removing of patches before update, why is that necessary in the first place? Update 9 was quite extensive which means it overwrites pretty much all the qml files that are patched; why is it necessary to unapply the patches before upgrade?

Reapplying the patches after the upgrade is a different thing alltogether, that should not be done until you have new patches that are compatible with 1.1.0.39 Uitukka.

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

I wanted to be on the safe side by placing the warning. However, if he had the old patches applied, then he didn't have update 9 in the first place.

Hi everybody,
And thanks for this great work.

I find the toggles in the event view very nice. But I wonder how to add toggles to control GPS, and how to remove unwanted toggles.

Any idea? Thanks.

Touch and hold on Control Panel items usually reveals Add to/Remove from Favorites menu (the icons on the first page are called like that).

Hello Everybody!

I am new here as a user. I have been visitor for few times, but now I registered here, because I got one question for this patchmanager.

I did not unapply patches -> I updated to uitukka -> now patches won´t work obviously.

Is there any way to unapply old patches? (while I have already updated to uitukka and even these new patches does not work)

Thanks for understanding!

BR,
R1v3r

Re: [WIP] App / Tweak: patchmanager a system-wide patching system + homescreen tweak

i removed those and installed the ones from a page or two ago, but the old patches show as activated and when i try to disable them , to hopefully activate the new patches it fails

There are many patches I can't disable anymore as well, but had no time to investigate the issue so far.

Hi everybody. I'm investigating issues with patches that cannot be disabled with 1.1.0.X. It seems that there is a painful bug in ausmt to be fixed regarding this.

I'm also porting my patches to 1.1.0.X at the moment :) stay tuned.

I can maybe then update. :D
Thanks!

Also I have new patch idea: In status area there could be small Android robot telling you that android is running on background.

That could be good because I rarely use android apps and usually remember kill android when I quit using android app, but ofc sometimes I dont.
