Will Sailfish's success help n9?
I don't wanna sound dumb , not a coder.
But will sailfish ultimately being successful , allow for N9 to see a whole new set of apps? if not , will sailfish apps be easily converted to harmattan? |
Re: Will Sailfish's success help n9?
No, not really, just on the same level that porting SW is "easy" between, say, N900 and N9.
Some applications are easy and some are difficult. |
Re: Will Sailfish's success help n9?
Love your threads :D . See a pattern here...
And the answer is NO |
Re: Will Sailfish's success help n9?
I doubt any "new" coder will backport to harmattan.
We could dream on fully working sailfishos running on N9. However there are plenty of issues too get the drivers working. And some may never work GPS is one... So simple answer is, no sailfishos will not make more apps coming to N9. Better buy Jolla Phone. |
Re: Will Sailfish's success help n9?
unfortunately not, N9 is in a worse fate than N900, the only good thing from N9's misfortune is Jolla.
Another thing you need to be aware is how quickly hw is getting old from new services. |
Re: Will Sailfish's success help n9?
I personally don't think so. In fact, it's not really helped thus far. What it has helped though, would be stuff like the Nexus 4, 2012 version of the Nexus 7 and potential Android devices that it will support.
The N9 is basically more ignore than even the N900. |
Re: Will Sailfish's success help n9?
I would say that n9 is very dead. What i miss is Harmattan, the UI was glorious and unique, and that is something worth to save.
I hope Nokia implement that UI and UX in some upcoming phone no matter what OS |

The success of Jolla has ended what little life the N9 had left.
