It says 89MB directly on Jolla with SSH closed. Also, SysMon shows very different results (only 480MB used, not 790MB as free is indicating).

I am more interested in the 830MB of total RAM. I was expexting 1024MB or thereabouts.

You can install ZRAM from Warehouse.

Mine fresh from boot: 10mb ram free (growing to 40-50 over time). No impact whatsoever. Killing android, extra 200mb, still nothing opens faster. Not sure if we should start 'ZOMG, so little RAM left, yet everything runs!' thread

edit: or as tiempjuuh put it, cached memory plays a role

I've had huge lag problems since update 8. Green flashing LED when trying to wake up, huge camera lag, system unusable when the browser and one other app are open or any time the memory usage in lighthouse showed over 80%.

df -h said I had 6GB free, but btrfs fi show said 13.75GB used. Now after a balance I'm on 11.13GB used, and all the lag has gone.

Thanks coderus!

Haven't had big problems, but reading this thread I noticed that I had some of the symptoms. brtfs fi show says 13.7GB.

So thanks from me too!

I think the zram module has not yet been recompiled to work on update 9 kernel.

May very well be possible, but that isn't to say it doesn't work. In fact, it works for me. I just installed the ZRAM package while on Update 9 and it's been working ever since.

I hope this is not too off-topic to ask:

If the result of the command "btrfs fi show" is...

Code:

devid  1 size 13.75 GB used 11.75 GB
... is that OK? Or should I be concerned?

Which means that probably you cannot install an OS update without cleaning up your device, as that will pretty much eat up your free disk. :(

OMG indeed! My phone has been so slow lately and this fixed it! I got my disk usage down to only 4GB, but the "devid 1" was still at 13.75GB. So I did the balancing and now it reports 8.8GB and the phone is sooo much smoother!

Thank you, so much!
