How to use N900 with dead touchscreen?
Hello,
My N900's touchscreen is failing. It doesn't register pressure in lower right corner and around it properly - buttons change colors but don't get pressed, sometimes it even stops working at all. Recalibration attempts made things even worse, had to use sudo tscalibrate reset. Replacement touchscreen will arrive in ages. I have a few android phones for temporary replacements to choose from - however, it will take some time to set any of them up, and anyway I need N900 today and probably tomorrow. Is there a way to control N900 via keyboard only in case I need to make a call while touchscreen fails completely, or at least a way to turn on and setup bluetooth from xterm so I could connect a mouse? :( I could also use some advice on lightning-fast way of transferring contacts from N900 to Android. :) |

install x11vnc from xterm that may help controlling few basic tasks .

Re: How to use N900 with dead touchscreen?
Install phone-control and you can do basic stuff from commandline.
See here for advanced dbus commands. and here for the application. Have extras-devel enabled and issue Code:
sudo gainroot Code:
phone-control --bton Also you can install extmou and usb hostmode and try to control your n900 with your mouse. For backing up contacts from commandline use: Code:
osso-addressbook-backup -e /media/mmc1/ /home/user/MyDocs for the eMMC |
