Jolla Being Sued By Golla
Not sure if it needs a new thread, but merge it with an existing one if not.
Just posted on Jolla's Facebook page an hour ago: Golla phone accessory maker suing Jolla Can't see where the confusion is going to come from, IMO. One company will be making an awesome smartphone, the other will be making a bag to put it in. |
Re: Jolla Being Sued By Golla
Its much ado nothing i.e. a PR-stunt by Golla most probably as the following quote shows Jolla is quite safe:

Luckily this is happening in a civilized country (Finland). Imagine if that was happening in the US! :) |
Re: Jolla Being Sued By Golla
In the Netherlands there was a tv channel that was going to be named: Me.
They were sued by WE, a clothing store. We won. |
Re: Jolla Being Sued By Golla
Swings and roundabouts. MTV Networks went after Mobiele Televisie Nederland (MTVNL) ; MTVNL won.

Golla vs Jolla
Quick translation from Finnish article: http://www.mtv.fi/uutiset/rikos/arti...voitti/4575648
At beginning of 2013 Golla opened a dispute in court against Jolla, because they considered the two names were very similar (and Golla was on the market first), Golla was a worldwide recognized brand, and Jolla was trying to take advantage of that similarity of names (and Golla popularity). Golla also claimed that in English the two names have a similar pronunciation and the logos style is also similar. Last but not least, Golla declared that while currently doing only cases and bags, they might step up and begin producing mobile phones themselves (yeah, sure! :D) Their request was for Jolla to change name. Jolla (of course) rejected all those claims, including Golla wide popularity. :) The court decided that it doesn't seem likely that an average Finnish consumer may confuse the two names and think that Golla bags and Jolla phones are from the same company, rejected Golla claims, and make them pay 19700 EUR to Jolla for the legal expenses. And Jolla can keep their name. |
Re: Golla vs Jolla
Excellent that jolla got some money for that **** show. Golla sound like shitty company. gPhone...nahh. Doesn't work for me.
Either way, Jolla stole the name in first place I read...this is the real jolla. But not sure what they are doing or even care. Candy or something. So maybe jolla should buy some candy from jolla :D https://translate.google.com/transla...%2Fjolla.se%2F |
