Is "/ril_0" sim1? Is there a simAll, or do I need to listen for both separately?

Yes I uploaded smsrun for you as a starting point and "/ril_0" is sim1 and "/ril_1" is sim2. But I don't know if the path is valid for all devices. So you could check the path and check if there is a sim card in use. After your checks you could listen on available sim cards and connect both listeners to same slot.

Dear Heikki,

I can't reproduce. However, I recall that choosing the Purpose made a difference when starting a new Situation. Not only did it start with several pre-set instructions for the What, but I could not add some of the desired Whats to this Situation. But again, I can't reproduce now.

What I can reproduce: I have this Situation called Car. When = Ambience "Sailfish 3". That will be recognised without any problems. Then the What: I want Bluetooth on, GPS Location On, Mobile data On, Wi-fi off, Volume 80%, launch app GPSinfo (it seems to trigger location, HERE does not seem to trigger location calculations).
Maybe it is the XA2 implementation, but GPS and Bluetooth will not be enabled. Wi-fi will be disabled, so some instructions do work.

Another update to Sonar & Situations alpha versions. Maybe this is good enough to make "an offiicial release"(?).

Additions to Sonar:
- Added list of supported permissions (features)
- Added support for uninstalling Sonar
- Other more or less useless house keeping

Thanks for the updates. I noticed one small glitch with the buttons on the About page:
When starting up Situations after the update, it asked for to update Sonar, and that seemed to work ok (didn't actually check, but got the usual toast about something having been installed). Opening the About page, there were still Install button for Sonar enabled and Remove was disabled. Tapped on Install, it seemed to do the installation again, but the buttons didn't change in the UI. Went back to main screen and back to About page, and now the buttons were Update and Remove. Small issue, but a bit confusing.
(I have Finnish UI so I might have guessed the English labels incorrectly)

Another thing I've noticed with the new Situations & Sonar combo is that the power consumption of my Xperia X (SFOS X 3.1.0) seems to grow quite a lot. According to Battery Log it grows from 80-90 mW average to even around 120-150 mW. In addition to Battery Log, Situations server and Sonar I regularly have also MeeCast and Working Hours Tracker running. I don't know how reliable those power readings are, but I do get less than 3 days with full charge in comparison to almost 4 days I've used to have.

I didn't add any new rules to Situations, nor added any plugins.
I also have tried downgrading to Harbour version of Situations and removing Sonar with (*):
and then installing Situations from Harbour. I think the power consumption stayed higher until I rebooted the device, after which I was again back at 80-90 mW on average. Ran a few days like that and again installed Sonar and upgraded to alpha release of Situations (the previous one from the current one), and the power consumption seemed to stay normal. Rebooted, and the consumption went up again.

(*): I don't recall what and where "situationreboot" had come from, first I thought it was the autostart service for Situations you mentioned in the initial post about Sonar, but as it hadn't reappeared I guess it was something I had installed earlier.

I must admit that the implementation for those button states does not properly follow Sonar availability. That would have required much more implementation.

When opening About page, it just does a point check if Sonar is available and based on that shows either Install or Update and Uninstall button active / disabled.

Something to be improved later perhaps...

I wonder if that situationreboot had something to do with the increased powerconsumption. That is, it may have been conflicting with the Sonar autostart implementation somehow(?).

Have you noticed the same increase after reinstalling & rebooting just Situations & Sonar?

Dear Heikki,

I tried the new version yesterday. My Situation "Car", depending on the Ambience, was not activated at first when I changed the Ambience. After a restart of the home screen through Jolla Utilities, the Ambience change did activate the Car situation. But then it didn't change back after choosing another Ambience.
So I decided to downgrade both Sonar and Situations for now.

Thanks for the reports!

@balta: There's no logging enabled by default, but you could looking at journalctl output after / during crash might reveal something - that is, if you have developer mode enabled.

Could you also try a clean install (uninstall -> delete old situation data in ~/.local/share/harbour-situations2application -> install new version)?

@rob_kouw: Well spotted. I guess something broke as I did some dbus-related refactoring to the latest version. Some other features as conditions are broken as well. Will look into it as soon as possible.

Hi,

I've now updated v250 plugins, so Ambience condition should work again. Fixed some other plugins as conditions as well.

The app was also updated because of updates to the built-in plugins, but it should not be necessary to update it to get Ambience condition working again. Just visiting Features page should update the plugins. A restart might be required though.

No updates to Sonar this time.

Hi,

I've been having the problem that the Situations app does not recognize bluetooth connections anymore. It is possible to scan for devices but when using a found device as activation condition for a situation, the situation just never gets triggered (only when I switch from = device to != device but well...).

Is this a known problem? I skimmed some pages of this thread but didn't immediately find something related. Also, I cannot pinpoint when it started to not work but I know it did before.

What I tried is removing and reinstalling the bluetooth pro feature but this didn't change anything. The newest version also did not help. I have not yet tried removing the entire application and all situations.

Looks like the conflicting app was the reason for the increased power draw, with clean reinstall I was able to get back the previous level of consumption. And Situations itself also works just fine, no issues with it. Thanks for the good work!

I'm having a couple issues with the latest release + sonar. I'm on Xperia X with sailfish 3.2.

I've done a fresh reinstall with removing the situations data in between.

1. The calendar situation isn't detecting keyword. I have multiple calendars and selecting only the relevant calendar doesn't help.

2. the wifi toggle situation isn't working.

Is the calendar event detected at all? Also, please note that the keyword is case sensitive.

I guess you mean it does not work as an action? How about as a condition? Any chance of you or someone else finding out what dbus command would work on Xperia?

Not detected at all, with or without the keyword. I have tried using a keyword in 'event name' and 'description'.

Hello, I have recently installed SF Hossa on my Nexus 5 on top of CM. Then I updated via Terminal to 3.2. I am having some audio/media playback issues and am looking for help.

The volume rockers are not working system-wide. I see no way in the software to adjust media volume, just ringtone volume.

MP3 files can be started in native media player, but not paused/stopped without closing the app. Also no volume control.

MP3 (audiobook) files will not start correctly in Talefish app. The files appear in app, but when you press play they do not start. The in app "cassette tape" wheel spins, but there is no audio from aux or speaker. And the file length does not count down/up. Thanks for any suggestions!

BT is also not working correctly. I can pair with a device fine, but the N5 will not connect again later on with the same BT device. Have delete and re-pair each time...

The calendars are from nextcloud. They have started working though occasionally stop mid situation.

The wifi problem turned out to be my situation. I'm on the edge of two cell towers that lose connection.

The donation link seems to not detect the language in use.

I have now switched to an Xperia 10+ from Xperia X. I notice that I cannot register any cells now while it was working before. Is the application compatible with 2 sim slots?
I tried putting the sim in either the tray 1 or 2 but it did not seem to change the outcomes: when I press "record" (not sure about the name as I am using the French translation), then the counter remains at 0 even though I am connected to a cell.
Or is it because of something else in Xperia 10+?

I suppose the dbus interfaces are different. Can you help figuring out what has changed? For example by installing SailDBusViewer and checking what shows under org.ofono?

Or if you have terminal access you could try what happens when calling:

Perfect, so that's the "updated" way to get cell id. That should be easily done even blindly, but how to get update notifications for this cell information is still a bit of a mystery to me.

So, one last(?) beta-update for 2019.

New beta-version of Situations is available here:

- Lots of small refactoring that hopefully doesn't break anything, but as always something could have slipped in
- New SMS send feature
- Initial attempt at fixing network cells condition

Network cell condition should now at least be able to read current network cell correctly, but whether Situations gets notified for cell changes at all or partially or not at all is the big question. Feedback is welcome :)

I did not have much time to test but it seems that when you start activating this condition, you get 2 cells. But not clear where they come from ? and no additional cell could be recorded apparently.

edit: it does not seem to work as the condition (with the initial two cells) is always on, even when far from the place where I did record cells

Found a small typo causing the "two cells" issue. But otherwise, to be able to get the cell updates working, I suppose I need to finally get my hands on something newer than Jolla 1 that has the new interface enabled. Might take some time though :/

I installed the latest version and so far I notice:
- I could not erase registered cells and had to throw the whole situation and start again (not a big deal)
- I have not anymore the two-cells bug but I started with one cell while I thought it should be from zero
- with flight mode on, the situation was still on
- the situation seems to react as expected when moving but I will test more during the day

edit: I can add that:
- enabling/disabling mobile data does not seem to work; it could be related to the fact that there is something special about having 2 sim slots.
