Yep.

And app restart should not be needed after renaming. But re-selecting the ambience from UI is.

@hhaveri, @Schturman

OK - unifying meticulously all the file&folder names solved it for me.
Thank you for your support guys! :)

While tweaking Situations to be more Sailfish 2 compliant...

Now that there is some sort of support for Ambiences and there will also be small fix to Ringtone Volume action (switch to silent profile on 0 volume), I'm planning to remove Profile action from the app in the next update.

Anyone here has any objections? :)

You mean you will remove "Purpose: silent" or "When: Profile" ?

"What: Profile"

As a side note, it will not be removed from existing installations, but new installations should not have it anymore. And as mentioned, setting Ringtone Volume to 0 will have the same effect as setting Profile to Silent.

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

Situations was updated today to version 2.5.80. Some of the changes:
- Improved conflicting action handling
- Minor fixes & support for new plugins
- Battery condition fix (Sailfish 2)
- Profile action removed (use Ringtone instead)

In addition a new Display condition is now available. Can be used to trigger situations based on display on/off state.

Heikki

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

Hi
Thanks for update! No problem with battery condition anymore :D
But now I have problem with Accessories condition inside the battery profile...
For example my Battery Low profile:
Quote:

When: Accessory = (NOT -> red line on the sign "=") Charger
and
Battery = Less than 10% remaining

What: Close 3G, Wifi, BT, less brightness
That mean if charger NOT connected and battery less than 10% it should close 3G, Wifi, BT and do less brightness. Right ?
But it not do this... A few min ago my phone was on 10%->9%->8%->7%... But profile still was not activated.
Any fix for this ? :)
Thanks

Hi,
I run a situation used to run the media application when I plug my headphones. It works pretty well. But is there a way to also unlock the phone and bring the media application in the foreground?

Thanks.

Hep,

Version 2.5.82 is now available for early adopters here:

http://www.pastillilabs.com/situations/sailfish

* Fixed Accessory condition (charger) for Sailfish 2
* Fixed a silly programming mistake in v2.5.80 that causes the background service to hang on exit

NOTE! Because of the second issue, the update will most likely require manual killing of the background service. Or alternatively rebooting the device. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Couldn't install this, no matter what I killed. Not even after killing the cat.
Had to uninstall previous version first, and after that it worked.
Also, the version number in about page is right this time... ;)

Are you use my auto-start app? If yes, before update stop it by pressing on the icon. Because when you killing Situations app, my app immediately start it again.

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

I think I have found a bug, but I'm not totaly convinced that it belongs to Situation. Anyway, here's the scenario...

I have configured Situations to fail over to a quiet theme (ambience), between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00 which works well for itself.
I also have a Sailfish calendar alert that urges me to take my medicine at 07:00 each day.

The problem occurs if I don't touch the phone between the hours of 06:00 and 07:00, meaning I need to unlock the phone between theme switching (06:00) and calendar alert (07:00), if I want everything to work normally. If I don't do that, the phone somehowe revert back to the quiet theme background (theme colors stay normal), as soon as the calendar alert sets of.
Also the entire events view gets unavailable, and if I try to access it, I can only see a grayed out empty screen and I have to reboot my device to get out of that state.

Please, let me know if I can do something to help you track down this bug.

Sorry, I have no idea how to deal with your problem but... why use Calendar for the above? Is that not a job for Clock?

I've never given it much thought. Clock should probably work fine, but it's a life long medication and I have always used a calendar reminder to keep track.

...and the bug would still be unsolved if I changed to clock alarm. ;)

It does sound more like a Sailfish problem, but I'll see if something can be done about it on Situations side.

I wonder if this could be related to the somewhat known issue where the situation doesn't change unless the phone is (relatively) active when the conditions change. Active here means being used, or having been used just recently, ie. not in deep sleep. In my case I can usually see right after when I unlock the phone that the situation has not been changed at all before the situation gets changed. Sometimes it takes pausing and resuming the app. Now that I have had the GUI app not running at all, I haven't had the need to pause/resume or kill Situations, but I still do need to wake up the phone if it has been idle for a longer time. Maybe you @eson could also check the settings/current situation right after unlocking/waking up the phone?

This would sound to me like a SFOS bug, but I haven't run into anything like this myself. BTW, what version of SFOS are you running?

Don't think so, because the situation does change, perfectly as it should. I can also hear when it changes at 06:00 because of the e-mails coming in (WiFi/Mobile network off, during night). Current situation is (none) after 06:00, also as it should.
The issue appears only if I do not unlock the phone before 07:00, when the calendar alarm goes of.
Phone is running SFOS 2.0.0.10, with no Alien Dalvik.

Sorry, I can't seem to find my custom ambiences in /usr/share/ambience. Only the stock ones are there.

Code:

[nemo@Jolla ~]$ ls /usr/share/ambience/
affection            fresh    intense  party    silent  vigorous
ambience-snow-white  harmony  origami  sailing  urban  work
[nemo@Jolla ~]$

I have the same problem with the custom ambiences not showing up in the Situations App.

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

I'm actually having a really hard time finding out where the damn location of these custom ambience files is (SfOS 2.0.0.10 Saimaa)! I searched the whole filesystem for everything I could imagine with the 'find' command:
- display name of the ambience
- filename of the used image
- 'ambience' itself
- ...
Not a single useful result, I'm a little frustrated... Since after a reboot, the custom ambience stays activated, it has to be somewhere on the system.
The Situations app is super, but I guess if the custom ambience doesn't show up in /usr/share/ambience/, Situations can't find it...

Any ideas?

I had the same problem and my workaround was to skip the custom made ambience, create my own "stock" ambience and place it among the others, in /usr/share/ambience/.
After reboot it shows in Situations app and it stay in the system "for ever".

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

Thanks @eson, I will try that. Still strange that the custom ambiences are unfindable...

I don't think there is any custom ambience files. It's probably just a reference in some user configuration file. I didn't spend time trying to find out which one.
Let us know if you need help with the workaround.

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

Hi,

To my understanding information about custom ambiences is stored in a database under /home/nemo/.local/share/system/privileged/Ambienced -folder. Obviously the storage format is different from packaged ambiences.

Also, as the path name suggests, it is privileged data and thus not accessible by Harbour applications. And this is why Situations does not list custom ambiences either.

Br,
Heikki

Ah okay! Sure, on the one hand it's logical to put custom ambiences somewhere into the home folder and not under /usr/share/ambience, which would require root privileges every time when accessed. But why blocking harbour apps from accessing this (to my mind) quite unsensitive information? Does not make a lot of sense to me...

I will try to follow eson's approach. Maybe I find a way to avoid a whole reboot...

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

Hep,

New version of Situations (2.6.86) is now available for early access in familiar location:
http://www.pastillilabs.com/situations/sailfish

Consider it beta that can screw up your current configuration, though. It is not submitted to Harbour yet as I'm hoping somebody does install it first and reports back if there are problems in the update.

Biggest changes are on Android side (support for Marshmallow), but there is some general & Sailfish specific development as well:

- Fixed evaluation of timed situations after restart
- New json storage format (the most potential source of problems in the update)
- New vibration action available in the downloads

The new storage format should make it easier to do manual changes to situations configuration. That is, you can edit at least /home/nemo/.local/share/harbour-situations2application/harbour-situations2application/situations2/situations.json by hand - for example to add or remove cell ids as the current UI remains quite limited for that sort of use case. You can of course also mess the configuration and kill the app by doing weird stuff there, so be careful ;)

Also, note that storage gets read in application startup only. You should stop the app completely before doing any manual changes. Otherwise they will most likely just get overwritten. Initial conversion to json format will be done only when necessary, so you might need to edit something from the app first.

No documentation on the format is (or will be) available and no guarantees that it will stay the same.

Br,
Heikki

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

Great, seems to work fine so far.

One enhancement would be nice (or maybe it's in there already but I don't see it): Is there a way to create a situation that is active when the Situations app starts?
Background: I would like to autostart some apps, like e.g. CuteSpot and Battery Log, I can create a situation that starts them, but how can I make it active at start of the Situations application (and not all the time, since I don't want to have the apps restarted all the time)?

hhaveri 2016-01-20 16:33

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

The only way that comes to my mind is by creating a situation that launches the apps, disable automation for it and activate it manually (swipe the situation item left & right).

This of course means that the said situation will always be active. Situations does not monitor the apps it launches, so they should only be launched once.

Br,
Heikki

Re: Situations app - bugs, questions, answers, help etc..

Thanks, so I created a situation "Startup" now which is active when battery is not less than 30% - so when the battery is good enough and the Situations App is starting, it will start the various applications for me. Good to know that it only tries to start them once, so I don't have to worry about it draining my battery.

Small update released today (v2.6.90), fixing some bugs mainly on Android side of things.

Celebrating 600 likes for the app in Jolla store, also new Log action is available for download :) Can be used to record situation start & end times to one or more log files. Files are written to /home/nemo/situations -folder. But I guess relative paths can be defined for the log files also.

Seems that the version string inside the application got out of sync in this update again...
