Latest version of WhatsApp available for Android and iOS uses encryption (not sure about BB) that can be reason why you are not able to receive messages but can send messages.

Yes it works especially if you have a different sim in the N900. But you will not be able to rceive encrypted messages and yours will disapear when detected. And once they know you they will be banned. Am sure you would not last long.

What do you say about development client Telegram? There is open source code and good APIs. I wanted to write a client application in Java, but it would be better if the app will write in the native platform language.

View info about Telegram API: https://core.telegram.org/api#getting-started
Source code Qt-based clients (Win, Lin, X): https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop
Source code Android client: https://github.com/DrKLO/Telegram

And unofficial CLI-version client: https://github.com/vysheng/tg

I think if You post the source code, then other developers of applications for Maemo will join You.

Thx!

I've thought about writing a compatibility layer between Yappari and https://github.com/Kaffeine/telegram-qt

I have been able to compile this project succesfully for Maemo, so it can be done.

I need, homewever, some time to disconnect from this so I can go back with some energy :)

That sounds great and will be greatly appreciated. No rush take your time.

1. tdesktop or telegram-qt? If first, that very good!!! But where great compatibility with Android client?
2. It's great! Take my energy :D

No, tdesktop is too modern for our little machine. telegram-qt only a qt based library implementing telegram protocol.

The idea is to reuse yappari's gui to connect to this library. This way I don't have to care about Telegram protocol as upstream will do it for me, and my only concern would interfacing our current interface with that library.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

Nonononono....
this just won't do...
can't take time away from this man...
I got a new love in my life...
I mourned long enough of my ex...
6 months...
It was time to get busy and frisky again ;D
So a few months ago I found me a sex powered and driven, loyal, devoted, faithful and true, good catholic chica from veracruz now ... who wants to marry me, cook with me (I do love cooking and baking), love me forever, and scrog me until I die of a heart attack.

So good ol' Paully here ...
(never thought I'd being saying this EVER...)
good ol' Paully here reaaaalllllyyyy needs to stay in touch when not with her...
sigh...
so ... dammit....
I recant...
Social media apps ARE truly necessary when one is in lust...I mean love..errrr.... both.
she uses whatsapp to keep in touch with me..
and is more than happy to use an alternative....
so...
sigh..
I NEED WHATSAPP OR AN ALTERNATIVE.
as it stands..
I have been using (shudder) a cheap android phone...
(boy... saying that leaves a horrible taste in my mouth..)
to type ...um.. words of endearment back and forth with her.. when not together..
and it of course would be preferable to use my n900 instead.

So man.... no rest for the wicked... get busy.

(and of course ..
I cannot say voice my thanks enough ...
for everyone's kind words..and support through a very horrible time...
enough of all the weepy crap.
time to get lovin'
hehe..)

the big question is ...
how many microwavable hot pockets do you need to burn through this...

Nobody wants that Android crap anyway. SFOS on the N5 with sfdroid installed or multibooting NITdroid on the N900 could be the solution in your case. That project is about to get mature AFAIK.
