Hi all!

As you may know, Yappari's coder Scorpius, has decided not to maintain Yappari anymore as of January 1st.

However, I am happy to announce that Yappari development hasn't been abandoned and that I myself I'm continuing to add new features, fix bugs and release new versions through maemo repositories.

From now on, please use this thread for new posts, and refer only to old Yappari post for information on the whole project, previous versions and questions&answers. Please read this post before continuing.

Scorpius has been very helpful and the transition is now fully done, so since yesterday you can already download latest version using Application Manager, HAM or apt-get (or links on this post).

Development is now public under Yappari's github. Please, note that only master branch is stable, final merging is realized on develop branch (send here your pull requests) and other branches (develop-*) are usually subjected to rebase, so you probably won't be able to fetch from them without deleting your local branch before. You can submit issues, patches, pull requests and whatever you feel is useful for development.

All new features are shown below on the changelog and longer explained on following posts and linked in changelog below.

Whatsapp wants just OFFICIAL apps made by them for IOS, Windows Phone, Android to work with their server.

Yappari and other apps like it, get away with being unofficial by not revealing that they are, well unofficial. It is a bit like the arms race of the old cold war.

The point being made to nagarendra and others is of you get banned then yappari cannot help you. You need to put your simcard into a phone running one of the officially supported OSs, and use an official app to request the unbanning.

Posting again asking for help from within Yappari is pointless.

Most of us using Yappari don't get banned. A good rule of thumb with an unofficial client is, if you see some or other suggestion that the server not talking to your device, DO NOT TRY AND TRY AGAIN to connect. Get to this thread and 1) READ and 2) if not noted, post asking if anyone else has the same problem and 3) do not hector the devs for a solution.

I am no developer. But I can say that what you post is sufficiently unclear that none can know how to help you.

Ceene, again, thank you for your efforts and time given to Yappari. I have updated to 209 and it is working perfectly and better than before. Ps. I am no computer techie ... If I can get it right, anyone can :)

Had been a long time user. Never had any issues with this app. just a question arose after reading some posts. how does Yappari get away? Why don't WhatsApp Servers recognise that it is an unofficial client?

Ceene, Thank you very much for all your efforts on this app. Its a real life saver. I am sure someone has already asked this, but did no see it on this tread. I cannot receive vcards from my contacts. It sometimes displays vcard but its empty. Is there a chance of implementing a fix for future releases?
Also would it be possible to select multiple contacts and send the same message to those contacts only?

Took me about 10 days (including a weekend) to get unbanned. You are able to see your status at whatsapp.zendesk.com/ . But trust me - they are really slow and incompetent.

It took 3 days for me to get unbanned after a request via "contact" button from an official app (as suggested by Coderus).

I don't know how they happened to know about me using YAPPARI but in the email I got from them, they warn me about not using again an "unofficial" app., otherwise they thread with a never-ending ban!! :eek::mad::eek:

Could anyone give some clues for not to be "caught" in their net again?

I really, really, really love my/our N900.... but for professional reasons not being able to communicate through YAPPARI would mean having to carry (and to use) an android piece of shi*.

(It's been two spicy years of lovely "marriage" between N900 & me now and I'm not willing for a divorce whatsoever, especially due to whatsapp corp. threads)

Any advice is most welcome ;)

hello CODeRUS , ceene . greetings ... In former days wrote them for the problem which was not yappari in n900 , but got the solution want you to see the answer I gave inc whatsapp on my own and in which it added ...

My question to units and the community if possible bring the application of yappari as official client for n900 for whatsapp and so to enjoy the program . In my case I use the N900 as work phone and I've very useful .

You'd better keep it that way and find some alternative which is not a proprietary closed source crap, under the control of whatsup inc and the likes. Dammit, even MS is not that evil when it comes to skype (it still works on n900, albeit with some problems).

Honestly, this whatsup madness looks like a kind of Stockholm syndrome to me.

When i tried to contact support by attaching a screenshot it redirected me to either a EMAIL client in andriod/ Gmail.I then sent a mail from gmail it already had the data and log attached.
They unbanned after a few hrs.

They also warned not use unofficial app again or will result in a permanent ban period.

I contact what's app support and they said me that i'm banned and they will not unban me. Pratically I have closed with What's app and yappari :/

absolutely nothing strange: chatting, sending images or vocal notes. They ban me when before last yappari's update (in that case yappare tried to connect for 3 or 4 hours)

Same happened to me :mad: (plus the registration screen showed up asking for a number; tried to log in with my number but no success at all; later checked with an official version: result "your number is NOT authorised")

Got unbanned through email+log (+ threat not to use ANY non-official whatsapp client) :mad::mad:

Still waiting for any gentle/witty piece of advice regarding how to proceed for not to be "caught" again... NOT USING YAPPARI YET but crappy android+official whatsapp :mad::mad::mad:

... and that is exactly why I asked what I did, so that we know what not to do.

Things is, I use Yappari daily but I don't stay connected and so log on and off. When the protocol changed, and I saw the connection error, I held off using Yappari and came to this forum - that told me what was happening.

Problem is if Yappari hammers away at the server after a protocol change that may be enuff to get noticed. And trying to register dug the hole deeper.

I believe so too. Most of the folks got banned during protocol change. I wasn't using Yappari at that time though. But followed the thread. What I saw that most of you guys tried registering again and again until there was a fix. Even when people here suggested not too and even WhatsApp itself. Right now I can only say that if you get unbanned then try not to register too many times from Yappari or else you will surely be noticed. And if there is a protocol change again, then everyone just stop using Yappari until the fix. I also believe that communities one wrong move can lead to the downfall of Yappari.

So. be cautious, smart and patient. :)

I have received the same warning (for both numbers) as the other folks “don’t use unofficial client again blablabla”. Both numbers are unblocked now – took the support 2 days.

If you did not get blocked yet, I think you are just lucky, but I am afraid it is just a matter of time.

However: I would like to thank again everybody involved in this software, I have enjoyed using it! Now I am left with whatsApp and a second phone to carry around, because I do not want to give up my N900. Sad times…:(

They know we are using an unofficial client. Hence, new users can't register with Yappari and nor the blocked ones.

Could anyone share their experience if they recently registered with Yappari. I believe that is the case.

I suddenly lost my connection "server connection closed"
restarted yappari..
I had to register...clicked on "call me"..server response: blocked

is this a ban?...or some changes in protocoll or something like that?
