Try removing the old version and re install a new copy. But i suggest you to atleast wait for a day as version 2.0.12 will be updated.

ekze 2015-05-11 18:35

bad suggestion to remove the old version. you won't be able to install a new one because the package is corrupted

Many new features are available in Iphones and Android when it comes to instant messaging. Specially on whatsapp. IOs 8 introduced a new and quick way to send quick replies without opening the main app.

The best thing about N900 that makes it different are its widgets. With the help of widgets it can possibly be achieved. I am not a developer myself but as i was using this conversation inbox widget, i kinda thought to myself, what if Yappari has that same conversation widget OR a new advanced widget for quick replies. So as I designer i started making the UI for the widget.

The first one is pretty simple and a direct copy of the conversation inbox widget showing just the current number of unread chats and group chats.

Attachment 37049

The real power of widget comes in this one as its a Quick reply widget for Yappari. The idea is that you can reply to your incoming messages right from the desktop, and the maximum word limit is 40. which defines the word quick.. And if you want to go to the app, simply click on the Yappari title bar and it directly takes you to the app for a full length message.

Attachment 37050

Once the user has replied all the messages, the window will be empty as all the messages has been replied. Its a widget and not a desktop messenger guys. Lolz..

Attachment 37051

If you find this concept of Yappari widget useful, then i hope you make it one day as I would love to have it on my N900. Cheers to the developers... Long live TMO..

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

Hi i'm searching for connection parameters, phone, password and id.
At /home/user/.config/scorpius/yappari.conf i can locate "phonenumber" and "password", but there is no "id" field.

How can i get the id value?

Thank you very much for maintaining yappari, you are doing a great job guys, just one suggestion:
Try to keep as light as possible, ram is really a scarce and precious resource in our devices.

This still is the old, corrupt version. I have upgraded to 2.0.12-1 just fine.

Same here! Upgraded to Yappari 2.0.12 (build 5212) yesterday evening by using HAM, install went without any problems, application works perfectly! I haven't experienced a single disconnect since then, and no application crashes either. Tested both on Wifi and GPRS/3G (while on the move).

Thanks a lot for the update ceene, super sweet :D

New icon is much better too, by the way. Thanks for that BlazingBird :)

You are most welcome mate.. I have proposed a new Yappari quick reply widget. Lets see if someone can make it as well.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

why this status always changing by it's self

sicelo 2015-05-13 08:09

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

it is a rather unfortunate issue. i've wondered same myself, and opened a ticket regarding it. but it guess it's something a little out of the ordinary, and few of us affected

princefakhan 2015-05-14 08:56

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

I think I have an idea about the status problem.

Whenever we change the Status, it should be saved in a file. So everytime Yappari restarts, it loads the status from there.

sicelo 2015-05-14 09:26

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

isn't the status supposed to stay on the whatsapp servers? i seem to think Yappari is mistakenly resetting it on each login. Then again, I don't really know the inner workings of Whatsapp, but for most other IM services, the server does keep your last status.

I could be wrong, but I think in the Yappari code there is a section that asks the server what our status is ... which again makes it weird why status keeps changing.

Guess coderus/ceene will figure it out soon enough :)

I don't think it's going to be that much of a celebrated release... Just a couple improvements, but I wouldn't make a party :p

ceene 2015-05-17 16:30

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

Well, this is the changelog for release 2.0.13. As you can see it's quite short, but I thought that it's better sooner than later :)
  • Fixed regression on reporting read receipts.
As it says, latest release broke this, as reported by tonydaan
  • Minor refactorisation to avoid regressions like that one.
This is of more interest to me than to you, but well, there were several methods and variable names that were confusing...
  • Request own status upon loginSuccess and remember last set one (should fix #36)
I've tried my hardest to solve this issue, as reported long time back ago by Sicelo and a couple people more. I finally decided to do as princefakhan suggested, because I couldn't find the real motive behind this bug, so this is more a workaround than anything, but of course it works just fine.

Nothing else for now. It's already available for download on extras-devel and I've already promoted it to extras-testing, but it'll take a few hours to reach the repositories.

Hope you enjoy this release, thanks to all the people that keep contributing with their reports and ideas.

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

i can confirm that status works better now.
it just takes a long time to show on other contacts (up to a whole day or slightly more), but eventually they can see it :)

Thanks

ekze 2015-05-22 05:24

"Yappari" case-sensitive

marmistrz 2015-05-22 09:34

Re: [Announce] Yappari - New maintainership and new features!

A feature request: brokenness check.

Ceene, you could set up a free hosting, such as 000webhost. Let's suppose that you set up the address yappari.comli.com. Let's suppose that there exists a file accessable under yappari.comli.com/api-broken

Before Yappari first connects to WA servers (or after a connection error), it would fetch the file. If its content is "yes", it means that the API is broken and Yappari should not be used so as not to get banned.

Of course the user should be able to disable the feature, for axample in case the server is down.

Besides, you might set up a quick-and-dirty Yappari homepage to be on the safe side, cf. marmistrz.comli.com

Rather wait to see if anyone else has issues but whatever, don't try over and over again.

And yes, there should be a log file in

Code:

/home/user/.config/scorpius/yappari.log
