Latest android whatsapp is now sending data to facebook. All the data. Scary thing. After making whatsapp free they can do anything they want, because you no more paying for service and have no any rights and can't officially complain anymore.
I personally moved to Telegram and dont want to touch Whatsapp anymore. It is not worth users attention.

Scarry and enough to not support that crap. Agree.
But, no, they cant do what ever they want with your (yes, YOUR) data.
At least EU have coming regulations to prevent that. That is one reason why US is no longer "safe harbour" in EU.
Penalties can be , so far, 4% of a companys total turnover.

I asked one of the Facebook developers about this, and this was his reply:

[07:40] let me tell you two things
[07:40] 1) WA is separate - they're independent and we don't control what they do
[07:41] 2) as a company, we try to keep the least amount of data per user. remember that storage and bandwidth costs money

I guess he didn't define "minimum".
Sorry. I am pretty sure minimum=all.

Here is a screenshot of what is recieved when you ask for a download of your profile, before deleting FB account.
Messages, events, posts, wall, information, friends, videos, pictures et all is saved.

Another security concern around FB.
Someone created an account using my wife's mail.
Well, bastards, You used her mail, so I now have control.
Facebook is crap. Just saying.

Whatsup v0.2-4 doesn't work any more. I could not connect this morning, then I needed to registrate again.
Registration error. Reason: Server response was: old_version.

yup same boat... given the security concerns and 'ease of access' it makes sense to jump ship at this point. Is there *anyone* working on a Telegram client?
