Whoever is making this app cant put it on openrepos for reasons. ;)

thanks man :)

Im still getting

Code:

Server response was: old_version
during registration. Is this to do with my number being blocked, or is the entire client/protocols being rejected?

What about integrating SMS messages to whatsup?

I don't know anything about coding or **** but this thing just came to my mind :D as we know we have this Telepathy thing which allows some messaging services to be integrated with our messages -app.

What about thinking outside the box and integrating SMS to whatsup

Not very drunk yet...

I thought the main problem to that was telepathy doesnt support images/videos

More reasonable would be integrating Whatsup to the messages app :)

Telepathy does support media, Jolla-messages app doesn't.

If CepiPerez has a PC, he might still maintain some major things for Whatsup... But then again, we really need some fundraising campain....

are you able to register at all?
if not, I registered my number using the WART tool and pasted the credentials into the whatsup config files by hand

Hello,
i bought my Jolla two weeks ago, received it last week and installed whatsup immediatly after i've found it in this forum.Since I'm new to the "Jolla-World" and to whatsup, i have som problems.
If somebody writes me a massage via whatsapp during the time, in which may cellphone is switched off, i don't receive the message in whatsup, when i switch on my mobile.

Is there anything I did wrong or can do better to solve this problem?

Second thing is, that the In-App notifications are very quiet...

I hope you can help me, because in general it is a great phone and the people, who are dedicated to programming for Sailfish making it fun to be part of the movement ;)

There is an option in the Whatsup settings to enable auto start Whatsup when you boot your phone.

It should be tight to the ringtone volume iirc. Or just select a different tune :p

Welcome to our world!

I've allowed whatsup to start during booting but still i don't get some messages especially from people with iphones. It seems as if the messages get lost nowhere. During the time my jolla is switched off, they send me something, but when i switch it on, i dont get it, even when i start whatsup and it connects without any delay... the message doesn't show up in the chat.

sounds like a permissions problem on your .whatsup or Whatsup folder if it has to write to /tmp all the time...

Do you receive any messages while you are online using Whatsup?

Yes, this isn't a Problem at all. Just during the time my phone is switched off and in fly-mode the problems occur…
I can't imagine why!?

Problem still occures... anybody, who can help me?
Just for better understanding:
When Jolla-Phone is switched on and not in fly mode messages will arrive on my phone.
When it is switched off or in fly-mode, messages of iPhone-user don't come through.

Update: One of my Friends (iPhone-user) can't write me at all via whatsapp. Maybe they (iPhone-Users) have to change somthings in settings!?

I have the same issue right now! Three of my friends with iphones (all three - girls :rolleyes:) send me messages but I get only 70% of them. On their side they see grey check mark (not double green).

I don't get some messages even if my phone is switched on and I'm having conversation with contact right now.

Hi

Whats the current situation with groups management? I am an admin in one group and I really need to change something in the group. Either add a new user or change someone else to admin. Will this definetly result in me getting banned?

Otherwise the app seems to be working well still

I got banned after trying to add a user to a group, so I'm avoiding it. However, in the past I was able to do so with WhatsUp, so it might not happen all the time

Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Whatsup on Jolla [UPDATED 7-11-2015]

Hi,
I just noticed that I missed a message as well yesterday, coming from an android user. The user said one tick was shown, i.e. not delivered to the mobile (I think). I didn't get any notification. Here are some excerpts from the log, it seems to have something to do with encryption:

<message from="xxx@s.whatsapp.net" id="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" notify="Someone" t="1452872879" type="text">
<enc type="pkmsg" v="1">
(some encrypted characters following)
Encoding message from xxx@s.whatsapp.net
OUTGOING:
<receipt id="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" to="xxx@s.whatsapp.net" type="error">
<error type="plaintext-only">
</error>
</receipt>

I did some tests yesterday with another phone running android whatsapp, normally the message seems to be re-sent in plaintext by the other phone when my mobile sends this plaintext-only error message, but in this case it didn't.
I don't think my phone was offline at that time, there are no notifications that it went only shortly before getting that message.

If more information or more excerpts from the logfile are needed, please PM me.

19.1.2015: Correction: The other user uses an iPhone, no problems with Android users yet

A small question (and please forgive me if it was dealt with before, I skimmed all 75 pages and didn't notice something clear on the subject):

Does Whatsup share my contact list with Facebook (Whatsapp)?
Can I control it?

By contact list I mean the numbers stored on my phone, obviously anyone who is a whatsapp contact is known to them but all the other numbers and their details I have stored....

Thanks!

Whatsup is just a native client of WhatsApp.
So if WhatsApp shares it with Facebook, then there is nothing that Whatsup can do about that.

It seems I didn't frame my question properly, Mitakuuluu used to not automatically upload your contacts to Whatsapp to see who existed and who didn't, as far as I can tell Whatsup does.

1. Am I correct in this observation?

2. Can I control this very undesirable behavior?

As a side note it would be very much appreciated by people like me that this behavior was either mentioned as a warning in the pages explaining about the program or that before it does the act it asks "may I" and if the answer is "no" and it absolutely has to be "yes" to be able to function, quit the application.....

Do we have any indicator at all whether the encryption implementation is being worked at ( for WhatsUp) or are we in the dark, thus should rely on Android WhatsApp!?

OT: If I use the android version I can Jolla provides me with the control to ban it from accessing my contacts correct?

AFAIK WhatsUp shares all your contacts with Whatsapp, yes, no way to choose (like it was in in Mitakuuluuu) which contacts to share.

And yes, you can ban Android from accessing your contacts, but then the Whatsapp application won't start (I just tried it out on the latest early access 2.0.1.7 SailfishOS)

Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Whatsup on Jolla [UPDATED 7-11-2015]

I was banned in wa. So here is the way I solved it. Maybe useful for others.

Recommendation:

you already got wu installed and the config file is still there.

Got you're account unbanned by wa support.
Install regular whatsapp and register your phone.
then quit the application (closing like any other android application)
download from openrepos aliendalvik-superuser by coderus
search via google for "passwordextractor apk smorra"
install the application.
run the application
grant root access
take the given password and enter it into wu config.

AND THEN UNINSTALL ANDROID WHATSAPP TO PREVENT TRYIN TO ACCESS WITH MULTIPLE CLIENTS

Maybe this helps somebody. For me the advantage was that the register process is made by offical wa (so no uncertainty like usin wart). Was afraid to get banned immedeately again.

ahoy

Just posting to add/confirm that for me whatsup (v.0.2-4) is also suffering from the 'not receiving all messages from iPhone users' error. This started to happen last week.
