I would be 'better off' if they sent me a piece of toast.
But thanks for your honesty |

too much, as in real world, want things just ready to use, free and well manteined. they are not going to waste effort in helping what they seems to like, they only want to enjoy it. And of course, if somehow the product isn't free, isn't open, or isn't perfect, ones who have spent their time on it are to blame. Too many directors, too little workers. |

I saw the picture of the Aigo back when you all grabbed your pitchforks, and I saw an identical design, sold only in China, six months after the Jolla fundraiser. As I said before, selling the design in a country they weren't selling the tablet in was a good fundraising step. Didn't they announce several months after the campaign that they were withdrawing it in China due to regulatory problems? That must have been the trigger. |

Oh and it runs Sailfish. I can mess around with the system as much as I like. There aren't many apps in the store yet, but all the essential Android stuff is in the Aptoide one, and most native stuff that wasn't in the store or openrepos I cloned from github and built myself. |

I must say, though, that you are coming across as more of a director than a worker. A worker doesn't tell others what they should do. |
Re: Marc Dillon left Jolla
don't take me for a fool. i am only remarking what i personally find a contraddiction. and waiting for explaination just in order to understand. I am no one , i am neither into nemo mobile team.
I am not saying what some company should done with its money, i am only saying what i think people should to just avoid being in contraddiction with themselves. I was trying to understand their reason, inviting all them to explain it to me. maybe i am just missing something so i would like to understand. to sum up: saying what Microsoft should (have) done without any role or investment into it is being a "director". saying what someone has to say just to not contraddict with action what they previously have stated, is completely different. indeed i have so much times told that jolla abused of open source and soon words, and i can blame them for that. Of course i cannot do the same for what was their strategy/ decision in the market.. edit: i read your linked posted and i find that we agree on that. i quote every word you said |
Re: Marc Dillon left Jolla
The current situation just proofs me that we are a strong community as we have an agile traffic on TMO and IRC channels. With this in mind everyone here should think positive. A community like this is something you can't buy for money;-)

Re: Marc Dillon left Jolla
What I dont understand is:
https://blog.jolla.com/jolla-tablet-operations/ They say that the first wave is sent... I was in the first wave, got NOTHING. Also, if you read the post, it also shows that they actually many tablets ready to be shipped.... Is the shipping costs just high? I really really dont understand it. IF they do NOT have the tablets at all... Then I call this a fraud. And I'm sure there are some laws for this either. |

Hopefully they tablets shows up eventually, and Jolla can pay lastu and the employees gets rehired and we live happily ever after. |

Although I doubt there are many ready to be shipped. Maybe tens, maximum hundreds. Not thousands. The vast majority has not been produced yet. |

Crowdfunding is not buying a product, it is investing in a company and expecting a product in exchange. Sometimes your investment is lost. But: Jolla did a very bad job on communication and in my opinion producing a tablet was not the best idea in the first place. Also the decline in lead personnel was a sign since long now that Jolla is declining and now finished as it seems. |

But, there was one last round. Where some placed a pre-order. That, is another situation, and, if it can be somewhat proven, even the slightest, that Jolla knew that these would likely not be delivered , that, qualifies as fraud, definitely. Of course, given that money was paid by who orderes,. |
Re: Marc Dillon left Jolla
Given the pattern of pre-order and delays, it's reasonable to assume that the trouble with the next financial round started around September time. The extra pre-ordered were sold to increase the size of the production batches and save costs. These people took a huge risk to try to make Sailfish work - of course they meant to deliver at the time they were sold. I don't know why anyone would think otherwise unless they specifically meant to attack these guys.
Please remember that the alternative to all these claims of fraud is that a bunch of people are on the brink of bankrupcy after having their funding pulled. Everything they've built over the last few years, even a decade for some, could come tumbling down. Imagine how it must feel to see a bunch of your supposed fans rant on the internet about how you always intended to rip them off. Honestly, you should be ashamed of yourselves. If the money does come in, that the tablet deliveries get priority over the refunds mentioned in that last blog post. Tom should have to wait at the back of the queue to get his $242 off George Bailey. |
Re: Marc Dillon left Jolla
@billranton
I totally agree with you. But facts doesn't change. My personal stand is, the best way we can help make Jolla get back on its feet's are being supportive. And don't start asking refunds, charge backs etc. Etc. |
Re: Marc Dillon left Jolla
Indeed. A bank run is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

oooh.
ouch. that is one movie with probably the most desperate bank run depicted. I love "it's a wonderful life" watch it every x-mas. but boy that scene sure depicts a grim historical time. I'd hope no alternate device company has to go through anything like that. |

It is indeed hard listening to some of these scathing remarks and not being able to give much reassurance. I can however say that everyone in Jolla has been trying their hardest, despite financial difficulties, to make the tablet product the best we can. And what everyone really needs is your understanding, support and compassion. It's these characteristics we thrive on, which we do get from the majority of the community, and is needed to drive us forward, no matter how stormy the seas may be. |

P.S. And where is his tattoo? P.S.2: he is talking about N900 and idea of making it opensource. He is using opensource as always in any opportunity :) P.S.3: i want to point out that I do not like that people saying "I used to.." "I was ..." but at the end we see the results that there is no more maemo, meego or Jolla. It sounds like "I can move mountains with my thoughts, I just don't want to" =) |
