1. Fairphone 2 will come with Sailfish beginning of next year
2. Securephone for authority use (police, government, etc. use)
3. Jolla HW company will start The-other-half phone crowdfunding
4. Intex release info for 2016
5. Tablet hype that it is already send for first users

one more thing...
!! Sailfish will become totally open during this year !!

;)

Well, that was disappointing presentation. Where is the hype that Dillion was so good at?!? Go and get one "Hype presenter".

Answering my own Predictions
1. Why Jolla does not do everything they can to get phones to consumers? Fairphone 2 would be good option for Jolla to work with...
2. What has happend co-operation with SSH from Slush#14?
3. According this interview Jolla HW company still exists and Jolla is discussing how to get new phone to market. Discussion possible co-operation with Intex helping Jolla HW to make new phone. News coming later (or never).
http://www.digitoday.fi/data/2015/11...a/201514931/66
Own speculation is that there will be crowdfunded campaign and Intex is the manufacturer?
4. Partnership and phone to be sold out side India. No news about schedule?
5. Why they did not hype!? That's event to sell your products (even deliveries are late)!!

One more thing...
Why not to open Sailfish?!? Open it and people will come.

Is it by accident or intention that there was a U-boat on a slide (twitter) shown in the third vale of tears? Could be a sign for a secret or hidden project a Jolla...

I guess the fact only Antti Saarnio is on stage also means they have focussed the communication (i.e. no multiple sources). Nokia used to do the same. I remember Fredrikson (now F-secure CEO) speaking on stage and introducing lumia same year jolla introduced themselves on stage @ slush

I'm interested. What's the easiest way to put SFOS to the Nexus? Can a beginner do it? Sorry for offtopic :o

Sure, but I guess my hidden point is that open sourcing things isn't the solution for everything and people will suddenly drop all their projects and work on Sailfish.

The browser in particular is a hot hate target (see other TMO threads) and yet not many people bother with it.

Not to mention there are a number of native alternatives:

https://github.com/llelectronics/webcat
https://github.com/Dax89/harbour-webpirate
https://github.com/tworaz/quicksilver

All the native apps are replaceable, if you don't like them then write a replacement.

[OT]I for one don't bother because I have alternatives that work better. Not so much for Phone or Messages.[/OT]

That is nice and comfortable way compared to the way I hold my Jolla. Dropped it last week. It was third time I dropped it in a way that broke glass.

First two time just gave a broken line each time. This lastest drop created a screen with few dozen broken lines. Now it is like a jigsaw puzle of pain peeling the skin of my fingers. No spare parts left, said the official repair shop.

The dream is dying. To be honest it already died on Elopcalypse. Jolla just gave me few more years to dream.

I'm changing tempered glass protectors on every serious drop, but the screen is still fine.

The community ports are starting to get pretty good but without an Android layer, Sailfish is not viable for many.

nope no android, although some are getting closer to getting it to work, but that's no guarantee.

But theres some cool stuff happening like Tworaz's work on getting the Chromium engine to work on Sailfish. The showcase browser works better than all the currently developed browsers.

I think his work + Dax's UI would make something special.

If anyone does check it out, its best to install all the packages and then restart phone. also theres no UI back button, its just a left or right swipe.(cant remember which side.)

Oh wait, first inbetweenquote was about those, anyone? Would love to check it out (especially some heavy html5 sites, not sure if anyone noticed though that jolla browser is now pretty cool video player, putlocker (or 'their' jwplayer works wonderfully for animations (haven't tried yet with 1.5/2h vids), not only doesn't hog memory like ytplayer used to but coming back from another (even heavy html page, maybe it's adblock) works like a bliss, can't wait for tablet)

http://piratepad.net/sailfish-quicksilver

knew id forgotten something. and i meant web pirate UI with the engine.

It also has a pretty cool video player that just works, although it use cpu rather than gpu. basically its just the chromium experience on mobile, and for me its pretty smooth.

It's not beautiful but it is very functional. Sailfish browser is an unfunny joke in just about every respect.

I did not doubt the functionality; I was talking from a look and feel aspect.

Ugly can be functional. Pretty can be downright impractical.

Indeed. Just two words to illustrate it: pulley menus ;)

This is not an inflammatory post. Pulleys are great but not always practical. TJC is full of suggestions how to handle menus in apps with long vertical lists without having to scroll all the way to the top first.

This might sound like a joke, but it is not:
After my IPod touch fell down a few years ago, I just put a layer of wide scotch tape on it, because I couldn't be bothered to get it repaired. Looked pretty MacGyverish, but I got nothing but compliments for it and it saved my fingertips. Worked like a charm and cost me about zero $currencyunit. ;)

it is just a browser, the way it relates, atleast in my mind is that many apps can easily be replaced by there web counter part. but the browsing experiencing is very so and so at the best of times.

So you like status bars and don't like pulley menus?

I think you might have the wrong phone.

I recalled reading that @stskeeps being a 'booth babe' at Slush so I went to recheck his tweets and... oh dear! After he has been an 'interim' CTO now he doesn't seem to be any longer with Jolla and he's looking for new opportunities.
Sad. Sad. Sad.

Yes it's sad. I wrote about that in Marc Dilon thread.
Looks like old sailors are leaving Jolla for some reason.

CTO, R&D - we had a shared CTO office, me and Harri Hakulinen.

Doesn't mean that I don't keep supporting Jolla/SailfishOS or contracting for them. For a very long time I was a subcontractor, not an employee.

I'm becoming an entrepreneur again in order to pursue some ideas of my own that are a bit outside the typical thinking - while getting more experience in areas beyond just mobile phone OS.

I think some people here might enjoy those ideas when they manifest, so I'll let TMO know when I have something tangible. I'm still young, careless, so it's a good time to do things like this.

Hopefully no plans to change that?
