Re: 2.0.4/Fiskarsinjoki

It looks like Intex is in process to approve the update.
There is a comment from the official Jolla Twitter account!

So no early access for licensed Phones and updates will arrive slightly later due to approval process. Quite some news.

Yes, just open the Jolla Store, search for Utilities and install the update - somehow the Jolla Store won't notify you about this update.

Yeah, you've missed a few updates. I doubt that would cause this error you're getting though.

I have no problems with battery. Never did actually. But it depends A LOT on network quality, much more than on any other device I had.
But I do have problem with that freezing screen  Not being able to answer a call really bugs me.

thanks.
fails - tries 9 steps and then go bananas.

something is wrong with store. will try to remove it and add it again.

baaa. I think jolla server is down or they blocked me :D that would be epic. cant install stuff from jolla but all other applications. Epic!

Previous update was the first update to course problem for my jPhone after several great updates it seems that jolla are slipping with two ones with bad result. Luckily I don't use my jolla so I can restore it. But if it was my main phone it would have been terrible. Now it just annoying and takes some time. Jolla need to look into this to secure their updates.

Next update I don't want to do factory reset again. 2 times in a row is enough. Three would be disaster.

WTF: Factory reset didn't help. Still can install FiskarJarvi...

http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/...nt-of-fail.jpg

Thank you jolla for destroying my account. How is that even happen?

New jolla account didn't help...Brilliant user experience.
With new account I can at least install jolla apps :D But no fiskarjarvi. Now I get "cannot determine size" when trying to download, so one step in the wrong direction atleast...

Is it true that people actually was lucky enough to get fiskarsinjoke downloaded? I fear that this is a conspiracy. And everyone is involved.

Good. Are you using same account on both device? Regular, not early, right?

Do jolla provide tool to flash now? Or maybe it's time to flash jolla for good :D

Still find it dubious that everything works until the phone goes head to head with Fiskar. Not sure how jolla stores updates but It's an account issue since it can't download via terminal either. So jolla has managed to make something corrupt.

I think jolla shall discontinue updates and support for jPhone1 since they can't handle it. Better to invest these money into refund option.

Re: 2.0.4/Fiskarsinjoki

Since updatind to Fiskarsinjoki 2.0.4.14 my tablet have experienced start up problems more often. It would load up until Jolla logo and Intel sign, then freeze. Long pressing powerbutton will shut it down and then when I turn it on again everything works fine.

Any advice how I should start to troubleshoot and resolve this?

I experienced firmware update problems once, on a brand new device straight out of tbe box. Had to do factory reset through rescue mode. Never had any problems since, on two phones. I expect it will happen again at some point, since every OS update is a game of Russian roulette - Jolla phone or Windows desktop, all the same.

Dave, if you reset you pho e to factory defaults, you cannot update directly to 2.0.4. Depending on how old your device is, factory defaults take you back to 2.0.0, 1.0.4, or even (as is the case with my phone), 0.8.something. From there, you have to go through a series of updates to bring you up to date. There was a post around here somewhere listing the steps, but gou do not need to worry about that as the system will know.

But that works only if you follow the standard, GUI update route. If you try cvp's command line steps when you are on the "wrong" OS version, you may well screw up your system and need to factory reset AGAIN.

To sum it up, update errors happen occasionally and are impossible to avoid, but in most cases, problems exist between the phone's screen and the chair.

Regular account here on J1 with no Fiskars update either. Still on 2.0.1.11.

Still completely understand you. Just please don't give Jolla such advices, as they might consider it seriously.

I know. Developers are usually the issue. "Works on my machine" ;)
I have done factor reset 3 times always back to 1.0.4 and using the OS to move forward until I end up with Saimaa and then the OS want to move to Fiskarsinjovi. But noooo. cant download. Problem with store and cannot determine size :D Maybe I have to go some version before Fiskars :D who knows. maybe The OS have no clue. maybe I will try to install Aurajoki instead of FiskarsinJoki. Maybe even a random version will work better then what sailfish suggests...

Welcome to the situation :D Do you have a solution?

@ Dave999, the update doesn't seem to work for anybody. When you try to do it via terminal, you can see how the process fails immediately with the repository. The same problem has been reported in together jolla:

https://together.jolla.com/question/...-20414-failed/

I suppose there is nothing anybody can do except report a bug and wait for it to get fixed.

Aha, yes, thought it was my accounts that somehow was ****ed up by jolla since all others said they could upgrade. Thank you. I knew it! It was a scam that Fiskarsjorvi was release :D

Asked jolla friday, and also in together.jolla. Noone said it isn't working. Maybe jolla should say something if that is the case.

Good news anyway. now maybe jolla can solve it at least. possibly. maybe.

I am sorry to say it but this is a load of bullcrap.
I updated 3 devices; Jolla sbj-1, Jolla model-C and Jolla tablet when the update came online and all went OK without any problems.

The one and only device which does have a lot of updete problems is my self-compiled Hammerhead device which did not update cleanly with OTA and for which I was unable to compile a fully-working 2.0.4.14/cm12.1 despite several tries...

Great, that's promising! When did you do this? The complains specific to 2.0.4 seem to be from recent days. I had this naïve idea, that even though something has been working perfectly it might some day just go kaput and need some fixing. With something I mean here the repository for 2.0.4.13/14.

There are some (I'm one of them) for whom everything else in the Jolla store and OTA system update seem to work except Fiskarsinjoki. In my case, I'm sure I just factory reseted my phone with crappy procedure several times and the store/OTA otherwise working fall just under insufficient testing and bull like that.

Well, It doesn't matter much. It still not help my totally clean device to get the update.

Re: 2.0.4/Fiskarsinjoki

Can confirm that Jolla did/changed something today!?

Wanted to update two Jollas 1 today and faced the same prob (update size not determinable).
Thought of app registry cleaning (somewhere around 18-20 UTC+1) and suddenly it worked.
Checked the update once more on the other device (after restart) and there without the app registry trick it worked.

So Jolla is/was responsible for that inconvenience of Dave!!!

! My Jolla C had no probs ....

Liked the old backup routine where one could choose what to backup.
Now I switch to another small SD card, do backup and upgrade and then switch back to the old large one.
No hidden settings for old functionality?

I'm not sure but i think there is also one more new functionality. The backup utility deletes automatically older backups and only leaves the latest two.

Could somebody confirm?

Yea, at least I didn't find any way around that. I suppose it's a feature.

It's always possible, that I just couldn't figure out a way to keep my old back ups in tact. If somebody has a way, that would be nice.

It's normal for SailfishOS that consume more energy after upgrade.
After couple hours everything will go back to normal.

11% charge drop overnight (how long is that, 6h, 8h, 10h ?) is not too bad I think. I'd imagine you get that with almost any device and AF does not have anything like an exceptionally good battery.

Heck, I consider it extremely crazily excellent performance that my SFOS/Hammerhead on Fiskarsinjoki drops about 40% in 24h when idle... that's around 13% "overnight"

That is pretty bad. But on the other hand. Most might not buy jolla for its performance or power management :D so guess it's OK.
